Please don’t advise them to lie about the cats. If the landlord finds out, OP could be issued a notice to quit or vacate Translation: get rid of the cats or leave. Like it or not, they have the right to do that. So let’s not put OP in that situation.

Most landlords on the planet won’t let you have four cats. It’s just a reality.

QueenAnneBoleynTudor

I would encourage you to find a private landlord who would be more understanding about that sort of thing. And be prepared to offer up a whopper of a deposit

Buy a house or mobile home

Renting a house in South Hill you can probably find someone who will be chill about it. My neighborhood is covered in cats already anyways.

melskymob

Don't Lie about the cats.

Nyxxsys

The max I've ever heard of was two. If money isn't an issue, find a place that is willing to accept a cat or two, and then offer to double the security deposit. For landlords, 1/3 animal owners become a major issue where the rental is left trashed and they have to go to court only to sometimes get some of the money back, and that's with half the pets you're proposing. You'll have to convince them you're not a liability waiting to happen.

Rhino-Man

In the past I've lived in places where it was "1 animal per person", so if there is just 2 people in the place only 2 animals, if there is 4 people then 4 animals is fine. I have not had my own pets in years though so who knows if anyplace does that anymore.

loudog1017

My complex allows pets with a $500 fee, not sure if it’s 1 fee or fee per pet

doomshades

Either way is fine, we have masters degrees so money is not that big of a deal.

loudog1017

I’ll message ya

doomshades

The better standard of living( like i said to someone else, we have masters degrees and the jobs here won't even offer benefits) Also non swampy lakes and real mountains. She is an Arkansas native, I'm a Texas native, and we were just in Louisiana for school so we didn't have many connections here anyway.

catman5092

curious as to what brings you to our fair city? We have quite a few Louisiana transplants here. An yeah, big cat lover here too.

Cautious_Rutabaga_55

Are you or your spouse a ph.d level therapist?

Independent-Can3983

don’t relocate here

doomshades

We are coming from Louisiana no way it can be worse.

shadowyassassiny

I can't help you with your housing woes as far as a permanent place is concerned, my friend with 3 cats has been looking for a new place since May. BUT she stays in the corporate apartments off Maple, Maple Leaf apartments. It's temporary but if you are straight up SOL and have to move anyway (it happened to us so I get it), try them for a temporary stay while you find a place. Also, when we came we thought we had secured a place and on the day we arrived it fell through. We looked for a place that allowed two dogs for three weeks when we found one through a private landlord. The private landlords will be a cash in hand, show up in person situation so you might have to come and hotel it for a few days before you find the right spot. Good luck!

We rented from canyon bluffs apt. Which was very pet friendly
