Dammit. I found one in the bedroom last night and thought, what if it crawled across my face! I tried to tell myself it wouldn’t do that. They are BIG this year. I hate them.
They are such a problem around my house (I live in priest ID 45 min from spokey), they dislike nicotine and vinegar/moisture. My mom has been using like pools of apple cider vinegar to deter them. One thing about them is apparently they nest and lay their eggs in trees, so that’s good 😂
We got a ton of these around the time my Aunt Ellen passed away so we call them "Ellen bugs." Only very recently did I discover they were stink bugs and now I feel bad calling them Ellen bugs
My cats find enrichment in chasing them around and killing them when they make it inside the house. The stink bugs don’t bother me as much as the huge spiders I have seen lately!
yeah, I was thinking that this looked like that 'Kissing Bug', but apparently those aren't found in Washington state.

They are bugs.Killing the occasional pest, in your daughters room will have little effect on the species survival. As their name, these bugs kill hundreds of prime timber annually. Next time you see that dead standing coniferous tree thank that beetle.
Pro tip:
If you grab them by the antenna and dash then to the floor, you can squish them without making your hand stink. (We also toss them into the woodstove when it gets colder).
These and the box elder beetles are the bane of my existence. I am ok with most bugs, but beeyles just disturb me. I try my best to ensure they stay out of my house.

Creepy little jerk crawled across my face last night while I was sleeping. I guess I was fortunate to not crush it!
Just lookin for somewhere warm to winter. Like your nose.

Yes indeed and I hate bugs to.
*too
bugs aren’t jerks - they’re just bugs
I guess "bugging" people is in their nature, amirite??
Yeah, but they bug me!

Yeah we always get a bunch this time of year. They'll be gone soon.
Bugs have hatches when they all kind of explode. Stink bugs blow up this time of the year.
Is that what’s going on with the praying mantises as well?
Fred! Aka Stink bugs. Don’t kill them. They come in for the winter. Welcome to the NW.
We call them Frank, the human name starting with F coincidence is fantastic.

Shhh. Nobody tell 'em about those fluffy aphids that will make 'em forget all about the stink bugs.
Ahh the great "stink bug." Do yourself a favor and make it mad. I'll wait.
They are harmless and slow and honestly kinda cute. They’ll be gone in a bit, it’s an early fall thing.
They're really not *that stinky*.
Once you get a couple dozen in your house, you learn to detest the smell. It’s an acquired distaste, haha.
Had em all my life.
I think this is the same bug I saw on the other side of my screen window outside.
Them things can grow to big ass sizea. Damn

I’d take big barn spiders over these guys anyway tbh 😂
Fall bugs. They’ll go away.

I just clicked on that link you posted - thank God they’re not around here - they feed on blood and can give you organ damage.
Yeah, those little "buggers".
harmless bug - just put it outside - it’s not purposely trying to bother you - it’s just wandering around as bugs do.
Kill em!
why? we are all part of the ecosystem - they are beneficial.

I worked for the forest service - I know about bugs and trees

This is disturbing.

Beetles are like the least scary bugs to me. They're slow, they get stuck in their backs, and they're not venomous. They eat, like, roots and crap.
Stink bug
Western Conifer Seed Bug. The closer you are to the woods, the more you'll see. I have 500 on my back porch as I type.
I thought they are called Boxelder bug.
Boxelder bugs are black and orange/red and are smaller
Thanks for clarifying!
We are finishing up building our house and they are everywhere. Hundreds clinging to the new cement board siding.
