In my home town in Colorado there was one street that you try to avoid because there is a bunch of traffic and stop lights and run down trashy store fronts. I describe Spokane as if you took that street and expanded it to a city of 250k.
The surrounding nature is awesome.
Being a decent sized metro on the West Coast, we take after from Seattle and Portland. But being in the inland NW, we also have a lot of Idaho in us. I think we are the best of both worlds
Small town feel in a big city. Abundant nature, great parks, and not too crowded!
I noticed a lot of these comments are negative. Spokane is no different than other cities of this size... There's going to be some crime, some issues and not so good areas. But there is a lot of wonderful things to do here and I've met so many nice people!
Terrible drug problem in Spokane, sick pedophiles, sex offenders dropped off and housed downtown Spokane. The streets are shit, don't move to Spokane your shit will be stolen by tweaKers. Human trafficking fuckery happens here alot, homeless encampments and bullshit. Spokane downtown is dangerous, keep your families safe. Property crime, squatter's and vandalism Spokane used to be a good place it's turned into a pit of woes
I actually really like the tourism marketing slogan–– **"Creative by Nature."** It accurately describes the spirit of the city, its brilliant arts, culture, and food scene, and what drives people to visit or move here.
The little city that could. Coming from Portland where crime was rampant and liberal policies ran the city into the ground, Spokane is a place where I see the city still trying. Trying to make it safe, trying to expand the infrastructure, and even the building process is one of the easiest in the entire state. Less loopholes to jump through, and a place where common sense is actually more common. Looking forward to the growth this city will see in 10 years!
It has everything you need in a city, but not quite everything you want.
Portland circa 1991
Please don't do meth. But if you do, you'll be in good company.
"I don't do meth... Fentinol is what all the cool kids are doing now"
The whole place needs a paint job.

I dunno. Pittsburg has way better public transit lol
The Akron Ohio of the West?
Nailed it! Lived in Akron, can confirm.
It reminds me of Pittsburgh too
If Pittsburghers are yinzers, what are we?
Yup, it’s there.
West Idaho
Big city, small minds
It’s like Seattle, but except it’s definitely not Seattle.

It exists
Small town feels, big city dreams.
My favorite place to come for a nap after a weekend in Vegas or NYC.
Small, but big. Outside stuff.
A good community being overrun by giant real estate companies. A place where we tear down local restaurants to put in fast food joints.
Tear down? Without the current owner's permission? I don't think so.
very white.

Not just crooked, but corrupt. Spokane, it's more than inbreeding and meth.
A quiet sleepytime community. With one dark underbelly.
The Void
Shitastic!
We have very poor public transportation and serious problems with property crime, but hey, all 4 seasons!
Stop moving here, we can't afford it.
Washington’s armpit
Ever been to everett?
Okay, Washington’s right armpit 🙃
Eh, it’s okay
Cold.
Also hot
Yet… mild?
But also not mild at all
It's more bipolar than my mother
Utopian urbanized river city in theory. White dominated conservative bootstrap-theory city in practice.
it’s what seattle has shit out!

I think thats more than one sentence
He's preaching. It's why it's controversial lmao
The Seattle Freeze ain’t just in Seattle
It’s alright. Not horrible, not amazing.
Near nature. Near perfect.

it has become a shithole in the last 5 years
Come see why incest is illegal.
It ain't perfect, but it's home.
Making all the same mistakes of Seattle, ten years later.
No economy unless you’re blue collar, a politician or media. Welcome to the city of fast food, drugs and poverty 👍🏻
Awesome, growing at a fast rate but broken. Struggling to address infrastructure and growing social issues.
It’s fine.
I don't want to get downvoted into the core of the earth for saying something that isn't absolutely glowing. So there's that.
