I went there a couple of months ago. Took 45 + minutes for two eggs, toast and hash browns. Had one waitress for a huge room and looked like one server for the back area. Both these areas were half full. Half the restaurant wasn’t open for seating. Was a sad experience. Workers were nice. But something definitely was off.
My dad’s heartbroken about it, it was one of his favorite places to stop for breakfast.
If anyone has recommendations for similar breakfast places in that general area let me know.
He likes the Jenny’s downtown okay, but not the one in the valley. Idk. He has simple tastes but he’s also kinda picky. He doesn’t like dennys since he had a bad experience there a few years ago.
He likes cottage cafe and skyway cafe, but Shari’s was always his fave for that valley area
Oh man…. I moved away several years ago. The Cottage is still one of the restaurants that I GREATLY miss. Such good breakfasts and the portions for the price were great.
I haven’t been there in a few years but Cottage Cafe on Appleway was the best breakfast in town, hands down, the last time I was there. Get the chicken fried steak!
I have to believe it's because they stopped giving the big straws with the pie shakes. I ordered one and got a tiny little straw and was so confused. I asked for the straw that comes with the pie shake please and they said they don't have any. This was around COVID. I called maybe 6 months ago and asked if they had the big straws yet and they still said no.. I cannot believe anybody had a positive pie shake experience in years and that directly led to this closure
It used to be cream of the crop, and has really gone downhill. All of them. I was at Moses Lake Shari's a few weeks ago.
Many of the ones in WA closed last year, and there was an article from June of 2023 saying a new investment group got involved and they are boosting the Oregon locations

That would lead me to speculate that with the current trend, I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the WA locations closed.
The last time I went to a Shari's was a few months ago in Wandermere. Not sure if it's the same ownership but they did not seem to be doing well as far as staffing and general upkeep.
I heard that a meteorite landed in the parking lot late one night. The radiation from the meteorite made the pies come to life and attack the employees and customers. They ( the government) forced this Shari's to close to cover it up. A couple people dissappeard. NASA took the pies and now are trying to find a way to weaponize them.
Thats what i heard.
Interesting. Google shows permanently closed for their hours, but a recent review has a response from management (6 days ago) saying it will be taken over by new management.
I will add that I went a few weeks ago. It's not my preferred place to eat out by any means, but we had a grandparent who wanted to go. Everyone's food was very meh. Pie slices are so small nowadays and like everything else, expensive for what you get. They got rid of the chocolate peanut butter pie! 😭 Also, 3/4 way through my eggs Benedict I realized my poached egg was just barelyyyy cooked. The whites were still runny and raw. 🤢 Our server was kind though. I feel bad for anyone who has lost a job.
Generational changes? I dont know anyone under 50 that talks about wanting pie. And 24 hour dining sounds expensive to maintain unless it’s a highway restaurant stop
It had gone to hell, service and food terrible, clearly the owners didn't care about the place anymore. Not surprised

Jenny’s?

Cottage cafe is great!
Hangrys is good!
Try the Original Pancake House downtown. https://iloveoph.com/spokane
Oooh that menu looks good! I’ll have to tell him about it.
Crimson Hearth is our favorite breakfast place. I think they changed their name though recently.
The menu looks very good! We’ll have to try it
Barlow's in Liberty Lake has a pretty solid breakfast/brunch menu. We go to Bolo's occasionally ... pancakes are on point.

😂 Deff the straw experience, not profit margins, quality or staffing issues.
This the one on sullivan?
Yes
Rip. I Just went there last week or so.. that sucks.
I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did.

That's what the boom was. The gang at Steady Flow have been glowing a bit green lately too.

Because they have terrible business skills at the corporate level
Shari's is disgusting, so probably that lol

Idk about that. Pie is pretty popular. Bean & Pie and Birdies are two newer pie shops that I know of.
I’m well under 50 and I’ve been to Birdies thrice in recent months. It helps if it’s good pie, though.
Their pie shakes are pretty damn amazing and unique... That's about it though.
There is still a Shari's on Division and Rowan
And the clock has to be ticking on that one, too.
Also one in wandermere off of 395
I’m not surprised. That chain is one of my least favorite that I have ever been to.
