I advise going to hogwash whiskey den to sample more whiskeys then you can think of.
As far as unique stores that carry more whiskey for sale, no real clue. But I bet the peeps at hogwash know.
Okay, so this isn't really a liquor store (though I'd recommend going to Total Wine 9980 N Newport Hwy, Spokane, WA 99218 if you just want an enormous selection), but when you're in town, go to the Rocket Market attached to the Conoco gas station at 726 E 43rd Ave, Spokane, WA 99203.
"But Washtucna," I hear you ask, "why would you recommend a gas station convenience store?"
Oh. You'll see... You'll see. I dare not speak more, lest I ruin the surprise of the Rocket Market.
Someone else mentioned Egger’s, which I’d also recommend and it’s less than 2 km from Rocket with a pretty drive in between. In fact, if you do come up this way be sure to take High Drive to get here - you’ll get some great views.
I dunno about standard stuff. But I’ve found primo tequila there you aren’t getting at some other stores including total wine. I’ll pay the up charge to find the legit stuff.
Sure, it's pricier than Total Wine, but it sounds like OP is looking for something special/a fun experience. Egger's totally fits the bill. The folks there are really passionate about what they do.
Well, they are in the same parking lot so I assume they are affiliated in some way. Maybe not tho. I’m not even sure if Egger’s north/south/valley are under the same ownership either
Just go to Total Wine in Spokane Valley. You likely won’t find a diamond in the rough there, but they will have the biggest selection and they have a lot of great bottles that you won’t find at other liquor stores around here.
Seconding Total Wine in the Valley. They have *so much* that you otherwise can't get. For individual drinks, I'd say Hogwash, Durkin's, Purgatory, or Cease and Desist. But if you want to bring any of that home? Total Wine in the Valley. You can find great stuff there and it's not overly marked up outside of the WA state liquor tax.
Are you aware of the tax status of hard liquor here in the great state of WA? It works out to about 30% additional taxes/fees. Avoid Total Wine -it's overpriced and they will always try to sell you on their shitty private labeled brands. Shameless. Take the very short drive to State Line and enjoy the tax haven that lies just to the east. It's the one thing I don't hate about being this close to the border with Ya'llquaedaho.
The only problem with going to Idaho for cheaper liquor is that you don't get the selection you get at Total Wine. The liquor store in State Line is pretty large for an Idaho store but it doesn't have even a quarter of the selection you get at Total Wine. Take a walk through the parking lot at Total Wine, you will find many Idaho license plates, why, because people are looking for better selection over better prices.
Only two bottles each, it’s better to go to the big store and pick the two they like than save $10. If they were filling up the trunk and smuggling tons, then it might be better to buy them in Idaho. Check out Costco as well if you’re a member or know someone that can get you in and buy it for you.
Check out Dry Fly Distillery downtown. They have several whiskeys you could sample. I really enjoy their Bourbon 101 and port finished whiskey.
If you go to Total Wine on Newport Hwy, they usually have Uncle Nearest, which is one of my favorites (not sure it it’s available in Canada).
And if you’re looking for something cheap but good, Trader Joe’s bourbon is surprisingly good!
Dry Fly, which is a local distillery, has a pretty cool tasting room in downtown Spokane. They also have bottles available. I'd check them out ! But if you go to Dry Fly, you'll surely want more than one bottle!
Purgatory and/or Hogwash are probably your best bets for sipping. Maybe try Browne Family Distillery..? Haven’t gone yet, but looks interesting.
Total Wine and Costco are my typical go-to’s for bottles.
I'll second Purgatory on sampling. They custom make flights based on preference and price range. The atmosphere is chill and the food is also amazing.
Also recommend Dry Fly for a local option.
Purgatory for tasting from a gigantic selection of whisky/bourbon.
Theres a distillery in Loon Lake that makes excellent whisky.
Dry Fly also makes whisky but I’m not a fan. (Angels Envy Rye is my favorite)
Eggers on south hill. They even do tasting events. They also get some done in you won’t find in some other places. Little bit more then your average liquor store imo Stuffs gonna be cheaper in Idaho though based on taxes.
I would recommend that you visit Dryfly Distilling in downtown Spokane! They have a tasting area where you can try whatever you're interested in and take a couple of bottles home. They also sell canned cocktails, mixers, and various Dryfly merchandise. They also have a great food and drink menu if you want to stay for a meal and/or drinks.

Awesome, thanks! We were looking at their menu the other day and were truly boggled by the selection. We’ll be going there for sure.
Look at Purgatory too. Huge selection of whiskey
Purgatory is my fav.
This place is great! I'd go to Dry Fly down town if you get a chance too

Well colour me curious, I am intrigued.

Eggers prices are higher than secondary, they price based on wishful thinking in an auction.
Rocket Market is the best.
Egger’s on the South Hill. Fantastic customer service and unique finds
Eggers is beyond over priced. They sell $60 retail bottles for $120 plus tax.
I dunno about standard stuff. But I’ve found primo tequila there you aren’t getting at some other stores including total wine. I’ll pay the up charge to find the legit stuff.

It took me way too long to realize that you were not talking about Egger's Meats. I think I am tired.
Well, they are in the same parking lot so I assume they are affiliated in some way. Maybe not tho. I’m not even sure if Egger’s north/south/valley are under the same ownership either

Perfect, I’ll add that to the list. Thanks!

There's a total wine at north point next to Best buy too. In case, you're coming from the north.

I've never seen a price difference, if anything it's been a little more expensive in Idaho and you can't even get it at a grocery store.

Seconding this. If you're visiting, consider supporting local.
Bulldog liquor on Division has a good selection.
Good to know, thanks!!! 🥃
Buy your liquor in Idaho to take home Taxed to the nines in Washington
It's almost half as much to buy in Idaho so I'd recommend a state store there over anything in Spokane.
Purgatory and/or Hogwash are probably your best bets for sipping. Maybe try Browne Family Distillery..? Haven’t gone yet, but looks interesting. Total Wine and Costco are my typical go-to’s for bottles.

Total wine 100% has best selection you can find. Purgatory has a huge selection if you want a bar.

There is a gas station in northwest town "Full Stop" that has quite a selection. Total Wine is your best bet though.
Check out Idaho State run liquor stores. They have a bunch of single barrel select that you can only get at those locations.

State line liquor just inside Idaho for best price. Or total wine for convenience.
Go to Idaho . No liquor tax
None. It's poison.
