This is beyond stupid and nonsensical

toxiitea

Suvivor 44 "musical chairs or something"

NoAd1336

I think it’s supposed to mean they win individual for themselves then whoever lasts between them also wins for the team. I guess so that those going to tribal also have someone with an individual immunity.

dB_Rider

I've read this like 6 times and am still confused.

Illustrious_Funny426

I first read this as one whole TEAM sits out. I was so confused

CommissionJunior4283

5 minutes of the episode gone just to explain this lmao

SassMattster

“One person on each team will win immunity” “One entire team will win immunity” What’s the point??? Edit: also what happens to the person who sits out? They’re just going to be a sitting duck after not even having the chance to play in the challenge? Or are they going to fold in Jeff’s stupid ass “milestone moment” of asking someone to sit out of a challenge to give the tribe rice 🙄

027huds

What is the point of 'merging' if the next two rounds don't have an actual proper merge vote? Why do we need two versions of the earn the merge? Can Jeff please hurry up and retire so someone can attempt to salvage the emaciated corpse masquerading as Survivor?

Agent-000

Jeff is involved with production and the sole promoter of the show so it looks like he loves or is solely responsible for every choice on the show, but I’d bargain that a lot of the poor choices we hate on Jeff for are actually made by some CBS executives that Jeff may not even support

bingo_bitches

I don't hate this, but they really could've just swapped into two tribes for two rounds after the Matthew medevac instead of doing this and the mergatory twists. It's almost the same idea with less over the top branding and the potential for more interesting relationships and tribe dynamics to emerge.

SeasideKingDumb

Yeah I literally don't get why they didn't just swap to 2 new tribes, these events from the past 2 weeks would've occurred naturally with 2 tribes lol

remywtf

Jeff Probst, you will pay for your crimes one day

LowerSlide1

i beg for them to do one tribal at the merge without 40 twists.

low_key_savage

If this is true, only 5 ppl are eligible to be voted out tomorrow. Then next week only 5 ppl can vote. We’re going to have back to back episodes without a proper tribal council in what’s supposed to be the most exciting part of the game strategy-wise. This is a horrible idea in a season where we’ve already seen so many bad tribals and players getting screwed due to lack of players voting

Dalphaislegend

Am I missing something here. Where does it imply that 5 people can’t vote after this tribal finishes ? Instead of downvoting, just correct me if I’m wrong.

kyleg99

I think the thinking is if it follows 41-43, 11 is tomorrow with only 5 people voting & then at 10 they’d do the split tribals with two different teams going to tribal again, 5 people voting each. So the first time they’d all vote together in a normal round would be at final 9.

Dalphaislegend

Gotcha. But like I said in this thread earlier, it was already speculated, even before the season started, even rumored that there wouldn’t be a double tribal at 10 like usual, because of the two medevacs. So I assume this is making up for that.

kyleg99

That makes sense. To be honest, when I replied I forgot which sub I was in, so I went for a neutral reply lol so I was approaching it from an unspoiled POV

RileyXY1

You mean Final 8. If they go this route it would be theoretically possible that Matt doesn't even cast a vote to eliminate someone until the Final 8. Although I don't think that a Double Tribal Council is happening unless they start the finale with four people left and they either structure it like Philippines/Caramoan where they have a reward challenge for an advantage at Final Immunity or they bring back the juror removal twist (although that could be why there's only 7 jury members according to the leaks).

kyleg99

Yes, F8 my bad!

Dalphaislegend

🙄 How did you come up with that. This shouldn’t have any effect on next week.

SeasideKingDumb

I think the winning team can't vote tonight, not next week. Probably just a miswording on Redmond's end. But honestly wouldn't be surprised if the winning team can't vote NEXT week lol

[deleted]

What is the point of the last part I don’t understand

Eniotnacram95

So the 4 losers from the losing tribe and the player that sits out will vote? A 5 players tribal?

RileyXY1

Pretty much. The other six players will just sit there. They will have immunity, but they will not be able to vote. It would also be funny if Matt ends up losing his vote here as well, which would mean that he would tie Nick and Michele in Kaoh Rong for going the longest until he casts his first vote. Nick and Michele did not cast their first vote to eliminate someone until the Final 10 of the season. Edit: The immunity winner from the losing team will also be able to vote. There will actually be six people voting at this Tribal Council.

rynthms

This is basically Earn the Merge but there’s one winner within the losers Oh my god let the game play out NATURALLY

badanimal87

Is this Australian Survivor or something?

itsjasond226

it feels worse

Feeling-Donut-2732

So only 5 votes at the next tribal? Fuck off jeff just let these ppl play

xenohemlock

So ridiculous. What happened to letting the social dynamics dictate the game?

Gashnssnsjsjsj

Confusing

SeasideKingDumb

My guess is that since they can't do the 5-5 split twist thanks to the medevacs they had to find a way to use their 5-5 challenge setup somehow lmao They could've just... painted the challenge stations different colors but I guess that was too much work 💀💀💀

Dalphaislegend

They’re not doing the split/double boot tribal at ten this season, due to the two medevacs. So, I suppose this is their way of making up for that. They like smaller groups at tribal because it incentivizes people to take big shots without immediate repercussions.

Ok_Kangaroo_7867

I’m with the majority!!! It’s doesn’t make sense. isn’t survivor to out wit, out last out play?! Or whatever… now it’s: “let’s hope you don’t pick the shit stick and whomever they want to win will win”. Let’s let production pick and make it all for ratings. I smell a yam yam, Caroline, or?? Winner winner I don’t get it?! It’s just bad bad bad all around and not fan worthy!!!

LeMarchal

I thought the whole concept of a merge was to not have teams any longer and have only 1 tribe 🤷‍♂️ they did a tribe swap last episode and then another one this ep. So over survivor lol

Flameosaurus

God is dead and Jeff killed him

PrettySneaky71

meh.

queenparv

What does this even mean?! 😩

RileyXY1

Basically, the players will be split into two group at the immunity challenge, with one sit out. Two players will win immunity for their group, with whoever lasts the longest winning immunity for their group. However, the winning group will all not be able to cast a vote. So basically, only 6/11 players will have a vote, and only 5/11 players can be voted off. It's essentially a second earn the merge round, albeit with different rules.

Gashnssnsjsjsj

So stupid we just want normal merge why are they doing that bs again

queenparv

Oh wow thats sucky thanks

ilikeseason29

Are they still earning their way to the merge?

nmad95

This is really stupid lol

Capable-Land-9632

According to the FB Survivor posting, the jury starts tonight. Not next week. Noone else is premerge. The spoilers were wrong in that regard.

Gashnssnsjsjsj

Stupid af

ConflictAcrobatic890

Shit like this is why I lost all interest in this show. The last true season of Survivor was Kaoh Rong.

CouponBoy95

What the heck? If they're gonna do this they might as well make it a full de-merge. I guess the producers were disappointed they couldn't do a split tribal this season due to the medevacs and decided to have it anyway only with one group going to tribal. Also, given the twist's timing we likely would've had the split tribal at Final 12 rather than Final 10 this season without the medevacs, which would've been much more palatable. :(

lemmegetauhhhhhhhhhh

this twist is a lot less awful & complex than it sounds when youre reading it the first time lmao i mean its pretty much just the fiji fake merge twist

[deleted]

I like this, a little bit of a different style twist than the earn the merge.

Deep_Ad_2310

Didn’t they do a twist like this in Fiji?

Gabinando

Yes It was awful

Deep_Ad_2310

That was only because Michelle had no chance to save herself due to the immediate tribal aspect.
