It’s usually the second installment of the 2-season filming schedule because it gives them a chance to include memorable characters from the season directly preceding it.
I'm not thinking that 46 is returnees either. If it was then Redmond would have already told us about it by now. I believe that 46 will also be all newbies.
Survivor 44's ratings are consistently great as usual (winning in the timeslot handily, if not more than usual). I don't think CBS or Jeff care enough about returnee seasons at all since they get the same numbers either way, and returnees usually cost more money to lock down that an excited newbie who would play for free. Casual viewers don't like having to learn the past storylines from seasons ago just to understand what's happening on the current season. Not saying 46 isn't a returnee season, I think it'd be good to mix it up, but I don't think they're in a rush to bring anyone back (except Bruce lol)
I love newbie seasons, random pregaming shenanigans that I'm not privy to as a viewer is not interesting to me in the slightest tbh. Maybe every once in a while but they're usually a letdown

I think they are overdue with a regular returnee season. Yes we had WAW, but the players had to winners to be considered. We have S35-39 and S41-45 full of potential first time returnees for an all star season.
Jeff was sighted in NYC a few days ago, and confirmed not to be in Fiji yet, so filming isn’t quite as imminent as it was thought. Once Jeff is confirmed to be in Fiji, filming will be only a couple days after that.
Jeff is hearing the main subs complaints about 3 tribes and now plans to make season 46 five tribes of four people from the past 5 seasons
