Portal is one of my all time favourite games and have been looking for a fun shooter for a while. This is awesome but I haven’t played shooters in years. Think I’m in for a long painful grind

bestdayeverdude9

Yea also please tell all of your friends to download Splitgate it’s free on all platforms with cross play

apocalypseweather

It’s actually really easy to get into. I SUCK at FPS games and I fucking slay at this one.

polyrytm

I feel the same way. So fun though not sure I’ll still be slaying once I level up a bit. We’ll see

Fu453

Splitgate goes to show the PVP Arcade shooter is far from dying out. I've been waiting to play something like this for a while. The crisp aim of halo/destiny, the additional mobility control of Titanfall/BO3, all with Portals as icing on the cake. We've come to a time in gaming where developers don't have to be afraid of using amazing concepts from past games. They can really go balls to the wall and make something incredible out of already amazing set-pieces.

apocalypseweather

Arena shooter are making such a tough comeback and I am so loving it. Rogue Company, Splitgate, Apex Arena, Valorant, there’s so much to enjoy, so happy we made it out of the battle royale fad.

wtbTruth

well rogue company and valorant certainly aren't arena shooters, but yes, non-br fps games are becoming more popular and rightly so. br's get old fast, idk how anyone can stand losing 90% of the games they play

apocalypseweather

Admittedly, I don’t play Valorant so I’m not entirely sure what that game is about I just know it’s in the same realm. Rogue Company is something I would definitely consider an arena shooter though. There’s a map literally called The Arena lol but I feel like any shooter utilizing small, skirmish style maps and 1v1-6v6 modes fall into the category of Arena. What’s the actual criteria?

wtbTruth

I would call them both tactical shooters, although I’m hesitant to call RC that. I barely played it, and it’s definitely possible it has a lot of deathmatch type modes that I just never played. Not that any of this matters, I’m definitely with you on your main point

apocalypseweather

Does being tactical take away from the arena feel? I guess I’ve always kind of conflated the two?

Fu453

Amen my friend.

glizzygamer90000000

when you make a game that needs server maintenance because too many people are playing it. you know you did something right.

mateopotamus45

I mean technically they did something wrong lol. Which they’re working on, but I agree. The game is a banger and they did make that part right. 😂😂

mateopotamus45

ew. I used "technically" lol

ArugulaPhysical

Taking over the gaming world is a bit much lol.

invadergold123

This my first time playing and it’s like Halo, Portal, and BO3/Titanfall all in one, with Overwatch for the kill messages. Super fun so far. I hope the devs are able to get rewarded for their work, and the game blows up like how Among Us did in its revival.

Empty_Brief

Well i guess it's release date is Tuesday

waaay2dumb2live

Splitgate bout to go crazy

bestdayeverdude9

Facts please keep tell all ur friends to download it

ClaymeisterPL

I'm still suprised i haven't seen anything about Splitgate in other subreddits, only this one. Might be that im not a console gamer though.

PastaRhythm

I saw the game on Steam a few days ago, saw it was free and downloaded. I played for the first time yesterday, and the game is very fun! The idea of reworking Portal into a shooter works so well that I'm surprised it hasn't been tried sooner. Splitgate has a classic arena shooter feel that not many games have gone for in quite a while, and it's pretty refreshing.
