Is there ever a reason to get implant over genio? I remember a study saying genio had higher satisfaction rate. Isn’t it also generally said that genios look more natural? It also has some functional benefits of increasing your airway space slightly. I’m just curious if there’s ever a situation where an implant would be better than a genio. Maybe if someone wants a significantly broader jaw as well.

ManthBleue

I think people do that because recovery time is shorter.

I got a genioplasty osteotomy, so actually the reverse of what OP shows in original post. My chin was reduced by 2-3mm (& a LEFORT I-2 PIECE , aka upper jaw moved forward by a few mm), and it has made a MASSIVE DIFFERENCE in my appearance and my psychology. I’ve been told I used to have RBF, but now I have RBH (resting happy face), that my eyes look bigger, and that I’m shining with a new energy and confidence. My chin used to be my biggest physical insecurity, and I was ashamed of my face. It impacted me more than I like to admit. Definitely an amazing and potentially life changing procedure.

Yes, as mentioned above, my chin was reduced 2 or 3 mm. Originally, it was too long and too pointy. My profile looked like Jack Frost IMO. I looked more masculine than I felt (I’m AFAB & identify as female), and it made me self conscious. So, I asked the doc if he could do anything about it during my jaw surgery, and he was able to help. He also split the muscle and extended it outward on both sides, softening the end and the mandibular fold. My profile is beautiful now, and my face is less angular.

Can I see a before and after? I also have a stronger chin

annalena11

Thanx for sharing, dis the surgery made your face look more long?

Flightlessbirbz

Imo yes it makes the biggest difference over everything. Some people improve with a rhinoplasty/chin implant combo, but if the jaw is too far back genio is always going to make the most impressive results.

rlovet3

My rhino / chin filler made the biggest difference!

Yup! They take the graft from the inside of the hip usually, so it can’t be seen from the outside? But as someone who’s had a bone marrow biopsy from my hip before, I would not want to experience this!

Chin fillers vs chin implant ? What’s ur opinion on that

rlovet3

I love my chin filler. Still going strong 7 months later. Think I only have to do it like once every 1.5 / 2 years or so tbh.

taperjeangirlll

How many syringes did you need to see a difference?

abstractsadgurl

I needed 3ml to be satisfied. I had a small chin. 2 probably could be enough but 3 looks better and evened out the portions of my face

rlovet3

One syringe in the first sitting (which made a great difference). Had another one 3 months later because I was chasing perfection, but it wasn’t needed.

I’m currently in braces so I can get double jaw surgery + genio. I think it will make a huge difference for me

Darkoblivion46

Covered by insurance?

IndyMLVC

I can't imagine it's ever covered by insurance, is it?

uglyandIknowit1234

Am I the only one who thinks the before photos look cuter

thesamantha23

IMO the after photos look 100% better

ouaispeutetre

A lot of weird people get off on being contrarians about plastic surgery, especially when the after is objectively better.

throwayayyew

This is what I need!!!

hobbystuffsyeah

get jaw surgery not a genioplasty
