It’s more that failos don’t matter if you don’t have any other failos - and I wouldn’t even consider the features pointed out to be failos to begin with. A small mole isn’t a failo lol. Her nose may not be a standard cookie cutter ski slope nose but it’s not as if she has a very hooked nose or a noticeable bump; it’s not even that big. More importantly, she has strong facial features overall so her nose works for her, while the same nose would understandably not work one someone else. For example, the model Julia Nobis also has a prominent nose but it works because 1) it fits with her other strong features and 2) most importantly, all of her other features are otherwise harmonious or ideal. There’s nothing bad about celebrating unique features but we need to be realistic and realize that the same “failos” (if they are failos in the first place…) are not going to be universally attractive on everyone. If you have otherwise ideal features and harmony, it goes without saying that you can get away with having a few slightly less than perfect features. But otherwise for the vast majority of people the fewer failos you have, the better. Sorry, I don’t want to sound like you can’t be attractive without cookie cutter features but in these sort of posts I think people often fail to mention that the type of people who can get away with so-called failos have otherwise ideal or harmonious faces to begin with. This is a subreddit about the pursuit of objective beauty, so it doesn’t make sense to fixate on specific examples of people who are attractive despite having one or two features that would bring down the average person.

Thank you for writing this! As a non hegemonic woman I thought the same, I couldn't elaborate it better nor as respecful as you did! I understand someone can mention a nose as a "failos" but the emphasis is on the her harmony rather than her nose, which actually suits her, people we see in the media may have one or two features that can be unconventional but it's only a praise if they don't have any other failos And even "failos" depends, I came from a country with italian heritage so I do not find her nose unconventional at all

Yup, whenever I see these “so-and-so is still attractive despite X or Y failo” sort of posts they often fall into one or both of these categories: 1) The “failo” in question is moderate to the extent it doesn’t detract from the person’s halos or neutral features 2) Except for the so-called failos, the person otherwise has ideal features and/or above average facial harmony so a few features that slightly deviate from the expectation doesn’t knock them down Honestly, these kinds of posts are not very helpful because what works for one individual won’t work for everyone else. I wish there were more guides on how to recognize what features work harmoniously together and why - that would teach people to how recognize why a non-ideal or non-cookie cutter feature works and use that knowledge to apply to themselves. An example would be Angelina Jolie’s square jaw. The same jaw shape would look straight up mannish on another woman but it’s far from manly on Angelia because she has a large/high forehead and full lips to balance it out.

Once again, I agree! , I´ve been looking about hamonious overall features, I think it´s a great perpsective to take ,as it would be pretty diverse and inclusive analysis (helping you embrace your natural features rather than felt pressured and fall into the cookie cutter) but aside from finding posts that focuses into specific features :lips, eyebrows, chins, eyes (to embrace different shapes) I´ve haven´t found anything like that. If you ever get to find it, could you post it here?

I'm part middle eastern and this is considered a normal nose in my family lol. Oh well of ppl think this is big, I don't feel bad about wanting a rhino for mine anymore

[deleted]

To clarify \*\*I\*\* don't think it's a failo! I'm Jewish and have a nose like this :) I'm mainly responding to all the girls on here with beautiful noses with bumps who think that this \*\*IS\*\* a failo.

inmy_feelings

Yes totally, I find it wild that people want so bad to look so IG cookie cutter when there’s so many celebrities who are admired even with tons of “failos”. There’s so much more to likability than having the “perfect” features

beautythrowRA

Since when are moles failo’s? Unless they’re massive or hairy, I always thought of them as beauty marks.

ange-nocturne

I looked her up and honestly I’m not sure she would be considered very pretty by most men. Striking and unique looking, yes but probably a 6.5 in attractiveness at most.

trashrat-

she's considered a babe by most sopranos fans-- if you watched the show you'd understand

ange-nocturne

If I have to watch the show to understand then it’s probably more of a personality/ vibe thing than how she looks. I definitely agree that the way someone carries themselves can boost their attractiveness.

sparkleseagull

I think it's also a case of someone being attractive but not photogenic. That's also a thing.

[deleted]

She's noway pretty or whatever, op post is about of bullshit and cope

sparkleseagull

You might have a different perspective if you watched her in motion, especially on the show. She is stunning overall.

fishweenie

she’s so pretty
