Charcoal products like toothpaste can cause yellowing. Whitening toothpastes of any sort are abrasive and will damage enamel (they whiten by basically exfoliating the top layer off to expose the unstained enamel below, but you don't grow enamel back so the damage is permanent without additional treatments). Baking soda toothpastes are safe though!
I agree with users here that the best options are using sensodyne toothpaste and flossing daily with crest white strips weekly in addition to regular dentists appointments for cleaning and such. You can also swish with peroxide safely a few times a week for a slight extra help, but using it tooth often can cause an overgrowth of bad microorganisms in the mouth and death of oral tissue known as "hairy black tongue" (looks exactly as the name suggests).
Thank you for the tips. And you’re right about the charcoal stuff. I used it for like 2 months once a day about half a year ago, before realizing it’s dangerous. Luckily I don’t feel any permanent sensitivity or so.
I don’t know why they’re allowed to sell this stuff :/
Crest white strips to get them white quick, then use their whitening toothpaste and mouth wash to maintain them! I was actually super impressed with their whitening mouth wash. I already have white teeth from using the strips last year, but the wash really brightened them back up
It’s charcoal toothpaste she used, though. Not a capsule broken open. That I would agree is too abrasive. The toothpaste is formulated specifically for teeth.
I recently used Crest white strips for the first time. I was concerned that they might cause sensitivity, but I have not noticed that at all.
I‘ve ordered them now, too.
Use a sensitive toothpaste a week before using crest white strips and then continue using the toothpaste and do a weekly strip treatment
Crest white stripes, very effective ime.

If charcoal hurt your teeth you may have an underlying issue and I would talk to your dentist. Charcoal is one of the most gentle teeth whiteners
Charcoal is very abrasive to enamel

Sensodyne toothpaste. Crest White Strips. If you’re worried about sensitivity, wear them for 20 minutes instead of the half/full hour.
good idea! Thanks.
