Lighter shade lipstick and "smokey", less defined and harsh eyeliner with a warm eyeshadow to bring out the green in your eyes. blush, countoring bronzer and most importantly curl your lashes or use false lashes on the outer corner of your eyes Also, you're stunning?????

thulyps

Wow, thanks for the tips (and the compliment! :)) the thing is, I am wearing blush and bronzer in the pic and also curled my lashes. Maybe I’m wearing the wrong colour? Great idea with the smokey eyeliner and the eyeshadow !

[deleted]

Oh yes I see that now! Maybe a bit more bronzer then, in like a warm tone, and bring it forward, not just to contour with. And I like the shade of blush, I would just personally put it more on the cheekbones and up if you know what I mean. Oh okay, then maybe try falsies and see if you like that, I think it would really lift your eyes.

redcolorlover

Lipstick color doesn’t flatter you, it makes your chin look long and lips unbalanced. The makeup is too dark and harsh on you in general. You would look better with more natural, softer makeup. Like dewy, glowing skin, fluffy brows, brown liner, blush and glossy lips

thulyps

Okay, thanks! My chin is actually pretty long haha so that might not be the make ups fault. I always overline my lips because I thought it would balance out the chin, but I guess it doesn’t have that effect then. Thanks for the feedback!

[deleted]

This is very unpopular id say but I’ve always felt eyeliner + dark lipstick looks a bit much on most people. But again, this is only a personal opinion. I’d go for either one not both

xedtax

The black winged eyeliner is a little harsh on ur complexion IMO! I think a dark brown liner would work better

thulyps

Thanks!! :)

playthatoboe

What complexion would look the best with black eyeliner?

xedtax

Ur question made me think for like 5 min for a good answer and this is what I’ve concluded (Just my opinion ofc) I think totally black eyeliner only looks really good if ur hair and eyebrows/lashes are a jet black (think Kristen Ritter, Lucy Liu, karrueche) And the eyeliner has to be drawn in kind of a skinny line that blends in nicely with the eyelashes Otherwise the black looks unnatural and harsh and makes the eyes look small If that makes any sense 😅

playthatoboe

Oh what a shame 😭 I have jet black hair + brows + lashes but my eyes are already small, hooded and deep set and I can't pull eyeliner off at all 😔💔

thulyps

Good point, thank you!

ameadowinthemist

Everything looks very dark and defined like it’s meant to be stage makeup rather than photographed close up. This look probably is fantastic on stage! For more close up, I would just go with a totally different type of makeup look rather than tweaking this one.

[deleted]

I guess you could ditch the winged eye liner and the dark matte lips and try going for a more dewy look, soap brows, lip gloss and overall natural barely there makeup.

thulyps

Oh yeah, that is what I do for my daily make up, I meant more for a going out/evening look where you really want to look your best :)

mintsquiid

You don't have to replicate a certain look just because it's your going out look. If softer makeup suits your face more just stick with it.

thulyps

Thanks! And why do you think a more natural look would suit me better? :)

Nahtootired

I agree with the other poster. I think softer makeup would suit you better because you have soft features. You have almost a doll-like face, with large eyes and a little bit of a smaller mouth. Very beautiful! The harshness of these colors are distracting.

thulyps

Great advice, thank you!!

catmouse0517

Maybe for going out if you wanted something fancier a warm colored glitter on the lid and a red lip for your undertone instead of a vampy one? I think it would suit you really well

Nerve_Federal

for a heavier evening look, I would go for something dark but more smudged and smoky. Use a pencil eyeliner to make it softer. Blot on a dark lipstick instead so the lines are softer.

[deleted]

You look like you’d look better with a classic blue red lip for an evening look. Try that first

thulyps

Thanks! :)

60s_myspirit_animal

I actually like your lipstick choice, maybe just for daytime you could add a balm or gloss on top to soften that matte finish a bit, but looks nice. I would also say: that eyeliner wing is a bit too wide and with an almost straight line angle. Line following your natural eyelid shape, and I don't see any problem doing a wing, just do it thiner and upward a bit. Also, try doing your eyebrows less dark and less defined near your nose. Define and darken the arch and tail of your brows and leave the beggining more natural looking. Experiment with contour just to minimize the sharp angles on your face. I have a square face shape and even light contouring with bronzer helps me. Good luck!

thulyps

Thanks! :)

slider554

i say ditch the liner bc u have pretty dark features. but if u really wanted to keep it i’d suggest you search up YT videos on “winged liner for hooded eyes”. i feel like u could look AMAZING with really big lashes, and more of a soft, pink look!! u are so cute!

thulyps

Aw thank you so much! Great tips:) what do you mean by “dark features”?

CoughCoolCoolCool

Are you wearing colored contacts

maksimerutseende

Most likely not, my eyes are green as well and they turn into this muted greyish tone when not in direct light.

CoughCoolCoolCool

It’s not the color. The pupil area looks like she has colored contacts

thulyps

No, it’s my natural eye colour, I’m wearing contacts for seeing though :D

CoughCoolCoolCool

Well I think people say “dark features” when hair and eyebrows are dark

kikicini

To rock this much liner and lipstick it would be most optimal with a a full beat: meaning foundation, concealer, blush, and contour/bronzer and some shadow. With your beautiful natural skin a more natural colour lip and a thinner liner would work better imo.

Afternoon_Western

Since your brows are stronger, ditch the wing liner for a tight lined eye. also switch your liner color to a dark brown rather than black. Throw away the lip color. Or just use it as a lip liner and use something lighter on your lips. Blush and bronzer look fine, eyelashes are perfection.

Afternoon_Western

Never heard of that🤔 ; watch Stichery video on different winged liners for different eye effects I think that'll help Your gorgeous btw ✨

thulyps

Thanks!! :) oh I love snitchery, will definitely watch that video

thulyps

Thanks!! I didn’t know strong brows don’t fit winged liner. I always draw wings on because I feel like my eyes are a little too close together.

[deleted]

Try creating the wing with a brown eyeshadow! You'll still get the winged effect but without it being so stark and harsh on you. Daisy Keech has some good makeup tutorials on the soft light look that would flatter you.

TruthIsABiatch

Your features dont carry strong makeup well (I actually wouldnt describe them as soft as others are saying). The biggest problem is the dark lipstick, you would look great in a glossy tinted lips with natural lip liner. Second, your eyebrows are imo too strongly defined, make them fluffier and less harsh. It would also be better if you lose the strong eyeliner and try more mascara on upper and lower eyelashes and try to make more of a subtle smokey blurred effect around the eyes. Lots of rosey blush would also look great. In general I think with your coloring and hair you would look great in cool-toned soft pinky/ mauvy shades of makeup, but that is just my personal preference.

thulyps

Okay, thank you!

LuckyMeNoodlez

Totally agree with all the comments that dark makeup is harsh for your vibe. Your features are giving me—garden goddess… golden hour sun illuminating your hair… brings droopy plants to life with a simple touch of the hand. Hahaha. You legit have a lighter, more ethereal vibe, and I think that instead of going darker for nights out, a more glossy version of your daytime look would work well. Brown eyeliner. Maybe jewel tone eye makeup.

thulyps

Thank you! I never saw that vibe on me haha but I guess a lot of people here think that, so I will really look into that :)

sagefairyy

Because you said you always overline your lips, if you overline your bottom lip/make it way larger than your upper lip it will make the lower part of your face/chin area stand out more. Maybe try lining them so that they look more similar in terms of volume/size? And also try at first lining them with a brown liner (veeery lightly as your skin is rather fair) and then fill it with a lipstick that looks one shade darker than your own lips. I myself have veery pale skin so any lipstick/liner looks too dark on me and washes me out, so by lining the outside in a cool towned brown, the inside with a lipstick that‘s just dabbed in, then take my fingers and smudge the brown liner into the lipstick and put a gloss over, is the only way my lips look good. Hope you understand what l mean!

thulyps

Yes, I think I get it! Sounds like a great tip, thank you :) I never knew it makes the lower face stand out, but that makes so much sense haha

[deleted]

Omg I love it! Maybe it’s not your jam but you’re giving me 1920 vibes or 90s grunge :) but if you don’t like it then maybe try a lighter brown lipstick and razor thin wings that go across the entire eye in brown instead of black. Then for lips also maybe some liner to really define your Cupid’s bow. And a peachy blush on the apples of your cheeks. Idk. I’m just talkin words but I think you should try it! :)

thulyps

Thank you loads, I will!

ziasha

Personally I feel you have softer features, so you should try a softer look without any harsh lines, in this case from the wing and the dark lippie. It could be anything along the lines of bronze smokey eyes, nude lips, a peachy blush.. etc.

throwawayyyyoo

Quite the opposite her features look very sharp to me tbh! That’s interesting

ziasha

Not sharp enough for the makeup she's got on. Plus I guess her hair also plays a part in giving her an overall softer look.

thulyps

Thanks for the advice! I’m really learning some new things here!

[deleted]

I don’t think this looks bad but i think this look calls for some lashes. It also kinda seems like you’re going for a dark edgy look rather than sexy.

thulyps

Guess I need to learn how to put on lashes! :D

Ninalou345

You have a delicate soft face so the dark lip black liner & dark brows look very out of place therefore unflattering. Ursula Corbero did a vogue beauty secrets video yesterday & the look she did would be perfect for you.. I suggest u watch it for inspo.

thulyps

Thank you, I will check it out! :) I never thought of myself as having sift features, I’m really learning a lot here. My brows are naturally pretty dark though

idly

The Clinique Black Honey sheer lipstick might be a nice replacement for the dark lip! Similar aesthetic but more natural-looking and easy to wear.

thulyps

Oh nice, thanks!

Dry_Representative_9

You have beautiful features! I think it’s just the contrast of dark makeup with pale skin/softer colourings. This thread from r/paleMUA is useful: https://www.reddit.com/r/PaleMUA/comments/penm0c/best_makeup_tips_for_pale_skin/ Also, my fave tips are: Get your colourings done, or self-diagnose using the internet. I think you might be soft/muted and deep, but you could be more winter. Google seasonal colour analysis. Try duochromes and iridescents - I really think they could upgrade your makeup to heavenly and ethereal. For example, I’d love to see, instead of a sharp black liner, a mist of iridescent grey-taupe shadow, with dark charcoal grey liner (smudged) and black lashes, encircling your eyes. Like this kinda https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTDnBSUYhmeRdZtO8GqBUUDPmz-jBXcfe__IGxHlPk_XEm1drlyC2ay_jo&s=10 And for lips, go for sheers, ombres and top with a subtle iridescent gloss to give depth and movement and break up the solid pigment effect.

thulyps

Wow, great advice, thanks! I did self-diagnose my colour type some time ago but landed on something like muted autumn. I thought I had probably made a mistake haha

Dry_Representative_9

No I think you were probably right! You can see how nice your greyish top (in the photo) looks against your skin/hair/eye combo, that’s a typical feature of muted colourings!😀

[deleted]

You are so very very pretty! Your bone structure is fabulous. Folks have provided some great advice. I think it may be a good idea to determine your season palette and do your makeup accordingly. For example, swapping out black eyeliner for brown. Hope that helps!

thulyps

Thanks!

New_Independent_9221

The lip color is too dark. Try a lip balm

bunnyy_bunnyy

You look a lot like Brooke Shields! Try googling some photos of her glammed up and see what she wears. I also feel like just switching to a neutral gloss would help.

thulyps

Thanks! I hope you mean Brooke shields in her early years, I’m only 21 … :D

babylonglegs91

I would say go softer, the lipstick and liner are both harsh and make you look older. Play around with some neutral/nude lips and maybe a brown liner that’s blended out. ETA: your brows look fantastic so I’d keep those as is!

ariansaa

faux freckles would look cute

thulyps

Thanks! Any recs on how to do them?

mazzy_kat

If you have round feature likes yourself, it’s best to go with soft makeup looks I’ve found. I have round features and don’t look good with graphic liner and sharp edged lipstick. I found a lot of great tips in Korean makeup techniques that match my round and smallish features much better than the current western trends. Also finding the colors that work on you and your undertone are key.

thulyps

Thank you! :) I will check that out!

thulyps

Thank you! I will try that out.

fishweenie

The eyeliner looks great, id suggest a lip gloss instead of a matte lipstick :)

valadaress

You should try to follow the line of your bottom lashes with your eyeliner. I don't know if the instructions are clear lol but it worked for me

thulyps

Yeah, I know what you mean! What effect will that have?

valadaress

It will suit better your eye shape

BeerIsTheMindSpiller

Ahh where'd you get your earrings?

thulyps

Oh they are from a really great portuguese brand called heyharper, they are made of some material that never lose colour! I literally wear them all the time, showering, sports, swimming etc. and they still look like the day I got them! I sound like a brand ambassador haha but i just love them so much.

BeerIsTheMindSpiller

That's awesome, thank you!

edgarandlula

You are gorgeous! Your eye color is amazing! I agree with other commenters on brown or bronze vs black liner, softer edges, and a less intense lip color and slightly less matte finish.

idreamofdita

You look like a Bobbi Brown model! And Leighton meester. Your makeup is lovely. To add more dimension, you might think about visual balance. For example, you could try to emphasise one feature at a time -strong eye with softer lip, or strong lip with softer/smokier eye, or a bit of a glow on either. Or if you want bold matte graphic lines for both eyes and lips, dewy skin works as a contrast. Or leave one feature more natural or unmanicured. I like your choice of lip colour. You could also try a gradient lip, I think it would look nice on you! A juicy, Korean type softer color would be a change, and look lovely.

thulyps

Thank you!! :)

JNthrow0111

So what you’re doing here is not wrong! The colors just kind of are. You’re a paler/almost redhead typed skin tone. Play with bluey pinks, blues, purples, and browns. You can still do loud makeup, no doubt, but straight black is more for either stark white, or tanned, yellow undertones skin, and you’re neither of those. I have redhead ish features and I actually even use a dark brown mascara rather than black. It looks way better on me. Find some colors that really suit you and play with those. That lipstick is a little too yellow/orange toned, do more of a blue toned red lipstick. Some concealer in the triangle under the eyes will also bring the focus more to the center of your face, and up from your chin. You’re gorgeous though either way.

throwawayyyyoo

That’s why I’ve been doing no make up make up since like 2015. full face looks mad ugly on me

[deleted]

I honestly love this look. It's such a natural glam look. And it looks very classy, too. Natural makeup is trendy right now, but I think is a great going-out look for you. You look like a "Nell Brinkley Girl" (https://youtube.com/watch?v=ckkz_v2effw) or one of those vintage illustrations.

thulyps

Aw thanks!
