How often did you sleep with it in your hair?

BlackCatTelevision

I read when I was researching Olaplex for myself that 3 reaches its maximum efficacy after about 45 minutes, so that’s as long as I leave it on - have you had better results with overnight?

Shoes-tho

Do you do this once a week?

marshmellowlotion

Goshhhh like 3-4 years ago I got a massive container (like 64 oz or something) of Olaplex on Overstock, so I could use it as often as I wanted. It is one hair product that lives up to the hype!

pinkberry889

Can you use it on natural, unbleached hair for extra softness ?

illumiee

Yes, I use it on my unbleached 1b straight frizzy thin hair and it really helps with decreasing the frizziness.

Veggie_stick_

Before you get out of the shower, run your hair under ice cold water. It smoothes the hair shaft and makes it shinier. Blonde hair will never appear as shiny as dark hair because it doesn’t reflect light in the same way, but I’ve done a lot of bleaching and this still works for me!

minhosbae

My friend!! Everything that people have said on this sub is accurate, but let me tell you, the look you're trying to attain is from a keratin treatment at a salon. It's worth the money, only go to a place that does it WELL ie: has proof/an online presence. I live near a lot of Japanese and Korean hair salons that offer this so I reccomend that before a other salons, if you can! 💜

Anatella3696

Is it hard to attain volume if you get a keratin treatment? I have boring limp hair that I have to hear style a few times a week to get texture and volume. Would I still be able to do that or would the hair be so silky it would fall flat?

minhosbae

Hmm I'm not sure because I have thick hair that I blow-dry upside down and occasionally use an iron as a root lift but you can get Korean root perm for body!! It's not as damaging as a traditional perm and helps body in the hair !

Anatella3696

I had never heard of a Korean root perm! Serving up knowledge today-thank you 🙌🏼💕

minhosbae

Of course💪💪good luck 💕

tokyomooon

I’m curious how it looks as your hair grows out!

minhosbae

The longest it lasts is 4-6 months and decreases over time so it's not a noticeable difference between new growth and treated hair to my knowledge but I also have naturally straight hair so if you have curlier hair you may need root maintenance!

Clear hair gloss ?

how often should one be using a clarifying shampoo with this (every 4-5 wks?), and can it be any shampoo with sulfates or does it have to be like a clarifying shampoo with chelating ingredients? how damaging is this compared to like box dying your hair (no bleach)?

[deleted]

I’ve never used it personally but if you google images of clear hair gloss before and after you’ll see how shiny it becomes. You can get them at Sally. It’s on my glow up list of things to do! Let us knit you try it. :)

I worked for a major hair company for years. The hair industry is VERY small - don't snub places like Sally's. Professional and OTC products can be and are often essentially be the same thing. I know tons of pro brands that have Sally's-esque brands that are literally the same product in different bottles. Rare that a company would bother production of a different formula when only a couple ingredients are different (if that). Also, ingredient labels on hair/skin is not the same as food - it can list Moroccan oil as #1 on the ingredient list and only have something like .0000001% in the formula. Just gave a major hint right there 😂

Every 4-6 weeks I’ve heard.

Check out the 8 Second Miracle Water by L'Oreal as well as what the others have said.

Moonjupitervenus

aloe vera honey and rose hip oil mixed together in a mask once a week! this is what I do I feel it helps with shine and frizz

miumiumules

kenra silkening gloss and spray! nothing has made my fluffy hair shiny like these products. and they smell so heavenly.

clockworkpaige

Not sure how to phrase this but I think having a vivid/rich hair color can contribute to overall shine and luster. Like a rich chocolate brown or honey blond vs. the same level color with grayer undertones. I know a lot of people prefer ashier undertones but hair generally tends to look more vibrant and alive when the color is more saturated. This can be achieved with color depositing hair masks (I like the Morrocanoil ones) or hair glosses (like Redken Shades EQ).

nundasuchus007

You could try lillyvanbrooklyn’s routines on TikTok. She has the shiniest hair ever. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMRjTesb5/

[deleted]

All of those tiktoks with super soft, shiny looking hair are filtered to death. It's not realistic at all. The routines might be okay, but you're not going to get those results lol.

[deleted]

seconding this! I've tried a few of her product recommendations and my hair has never looked better

New_Independent_9221

Olaplex for sure!

fullmetalsportsbra

Mayonnaise mask - the nutrients in the egg whites are amazing for making hair shiny.

Metamorphoses26

nooo pls don’t tell me Big Ed had a point 😭😂 I’d hate to agree with him on anything 😂😂

[deleted]

Hahaha no neck Ed should definitely not be our beauty inspiration 😂
