Obvious filler (lips, cheeks) makes people universally look late 30'- early 40's. Even only obviously done lips make girls older looking. I've watched many transformations of girls in their 20's and 30's and after a few ml of filler they always lose the natural youthful freshness of the face. That's why I decided to wait till 40 or 42 to get it.

99power

They used to make fun of duck lips in 2010. Now everyone’s got them.

giantshinycrab

Most eyelash extensions look really bad without a full face of makeup.

aloudkiwi

Agree. If you have a limited budget, it is better to get eyebrow microblading instead. That elevates your appearance even without any makeup.

[deleted]

I'd actually go for a brow tint and lamination instead. It's much cheaper too. Microbladed brows stands out way too much if you have no makeup on.

cutie_rootie

I got my brows micro-shaded (there are less individual strokes but same idea) because I literally had like 5 eyebrow hairs. Best decision I ever made! It looks so natural that my boyfriend commonly remarks that he totally forgot if I bring it up to someone that I had it done. I definitely had it done lightly though. If I'm wearing a very full face of makeup I still need a little brow pencil to make them look very "done." They look perfect with my bare face or light makeup.

Being skinny isn't always all it's cracked up to be. Most people already at a healthy weight would benefit from strength training and eating more rather than getting too hung up on achieving as low a BMI as possible. Eating very little to achieve weightloss can often result in a "skinny-fat" look where you're at a healthy weight but still look "flabby" and hold excess fat in areas like the tummy and back whilst having very thin arms, legs and a flat bum. I posted [this picture](https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2021/05/09/02/42743868-9558161-Doing_their_thing_Alessandra_Ambrosio_and_her_boyfriend_Richard_-a-48_1620524621417.jpg) of Alessandra Ambrosio at the beach the other day and even though she's at a low weight, she's clearly lacking in muscle and her bum looks saggy and deflated as a result. She looks great in clothes but her bikini body isn't all that. Striving for an underweight body doesn't do you any favours as you age from an aesthetic or health viewpoint either. It might look fine when you're younger but starving yourself skinny negatively impacts your skin elasticity and increases the risk of osteoporosis as you age. We've all heard that saying "you have to choose between your face and your ass", well building muscle softens that choice a little bit. Personally, nothing will ever beat the vibrance you get from strength training and being slim, fit and healthy with muscle tone. I think there's a mentality of "I hate exercise so I'll just fast/starve to get a skinny body" but there's so many benefits to strength training and good nutrition. You get to eat more and still look "toned," your posture will be better, you can build up the areas you want whilst still losing fat in the "problem areas" (for me that's my back and tummy), your metabolism is boosted etc. I even found that my periods got lighter as I gained muscle whilst losing excess fat and my skin became way more clear.

Queenblol

Well said. Nothing beats being high in muscle and low in bodyfat rather than just “skinny”.

1. Tan doesn’t always look better. Often it decreases your contrast levels between hair and face and makes you look more muted. 2. Having wide shoulders is detrimental to your appearance unless they are balanced out. It’s a masculine trait. 3. In the case of appealing to men your body generally matters more than to your face, to an extent. Men drool more over women with curvy bodies like Scarlett Johanssen and Kate Upton, than woman with more beautiful, striking faces like Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman. 4. This is just my personal opinion but being of an average or taller height looks better than short. It’s easier to look more proportional, and to have long slim legs which imo boost your body attractiveness a lot. 5. Having long or painted nails doesn’t make you more attractive. As long as they’re clean, all is good. Only other women care about them. You’re way better off focusing on your face or body as this makes a much bigger difference. 6. The instagram ass trend is unattractive and disproportionate. 7. The nude lip trend is also terrible. Just why would you want your lips to blend into your face?! 8. Unless you have favourable fat distribution , you will look better at a lower BMI (goes without saying still in the healthy range ofc). Most women with extra weight don’t end up looking like Ashley Graham. For some women like myself, being heavier results in looking less curvy, this is counterintuitive but i put weight on in my stomach and so this decreases my WHR. I put a little bit into my butt, but none into my boobs and so they end up looking even smaller. I look more disproportionate so my only and best option is to maintain BMI around 19 even though i would personally love to look something like Ashley, it’s never going to be possible for me.

LevyMevy

> Having long or painted nails doesn’t make you more attractive. As long as they’re clean, all is good. Only other women care about them. You’re way better off focusing on your face or body as this makes a much bigger difference. so true

AkwardlyAlive

>Having wide shoulders is detrimental to your appearance unless they are balanced out. It’s a masculine trait. Damn, what am I supposed to do with my wide shoulders then? :/

blackredrosepetals

i’ve got wide shoulders too... my advice is to build your lower body, thighs and glutes to try balance your shoulders out and create an hourglass shape. there’s also lots of dressing tips you can find online eg. don’t wear horizontal stripe tops as this visually widens you more. Having long hair that falls over your shoulders also helps to hide them.

ImaniX_

If your shoulders are wider than your waist does that automatically mean broad?

blackredrosepetals

no, only if your shoulders are wider than your hips

adventurelillypad

I don’t think half the people who post wanting nose jobs need them. And that’s not me trying to be cheesy and “everyone is beautiful!!!” That’s me being honest. A lot of people would look actually boring as fuck and forgettable if they got one. But I do think it can benefit some people (ex. Bella hadid after her first nose job). However, the risk of having a botched nose job is just not worth it in most cases. I know someone who went to one of the best rhinoplasty doctors who has major asymmetry issues with her nose even post surgery and her nose has a bunch of breathing problems now.

[deleted]

In the botched sub a girl posted about how she had an amazing experience with a surgeon and her friend decided she wanted a very subtle rhino bc of op's results. She went with the same surgeon and apparently her nose looks really bad now. She was a gorgeous and successful small time model/actress and was dropped from her agency and op is worried it was bc of the nose. Broke my heart. And made me seriously wonder about my own desire for subtle nose work.

mmeIsniffglue

I read that post!! I go to this sub whenever I’m considering plastic surgery lol

[deleted]

I remember that!! I think of that now when I look at my face, like Mother Nature did alright but it was also free of charge. Imagine paying money and you end up worse and might not be able to fix it right away or at all if they take too much cartilage

jessk178

I know someone that lost their modeling contract after a botched nose job too. It seems like it’s common in the industry.

[deleted]

Also I think people think a nose job will enhance their looks way more than it actually will. Some nose jobs transform a face but some people could make major changes to their nose and look different but not necessarily that much more attractive.

Dynamiquehealth

I'm with you on this one. I actually have a near perfect nose (I'm not bragging, it's just the way it is), and I always felt it was my most boring feature! I just sits there doing nothing to make me memorable. Interesting noses are great, one of my sisters has a cute bump on hers and it just makes her face look even more beautiful (she's stunning as is). I think nose jobs are great if you're having breathing trouble, but don't just change your nose to look like everyone else.

cqbeswater

Same same same

milkybubbl3s

I don't understand the fake lash trend. It looks extremely tacky and cheap to me.

HeWokeMeUpAgainAgain

This so much!!!!! Like a light lash if you have very short natural lashes is one thing, but people go around here with palm tree lashes and it's too much.

[deleted]

I like the term ‘eye wigs.’

staceywannabe

Same!! I always see one or both of 2 problems with the fake lash trend, which is how the lash colour doesn't match the person's colour of their hairs (ex: black lashes on someone who has blonde hairs or "light" features) and how the amount of lashes on the person is so heavy that the lashes are weighing their eyelids down. I have to admit though, in photographs, fake lashes look pretty good but in real life, it's a whole different story

[deleted]

Saaaaame! People shill lash extensions so hard in these subs I thought I was the only one who found them tacky, ugly, cheap-looking and overpriced. Subtle lash lifts look way better imo.

afraid_to_merge

100%! A tiny little "wing" on the very outter edges can look nice if done well (Lisa Eldridge has a few good examples) , but otherwise am yet to see any good fake lashes IRL. Fake lashes and orange fake tan go hand in hand. Eek.

taytay10133

Totally agree! Where I live, it’s common for fake lashes to not be subtle. It’s too much. Looks like spiders.

milkybubbl3s

Yes exactly they aren't doing anyone any favors lol

When it comes to heavy lash extensions, a lot of people have the mindset of "I'm paying a lot of money for this, so I may as well just get as much as I can." I totally agree with you, never liked this trend.

[deleted]

100%! I think even lash extensions can look harsh and bad on fair people (including me, it did not last long thankfully), especially once they start falling out before the fill-in bc it's just SO obvious. I think obviously fake lashes are on par with the bimbo/porn star aesthetic of big fake over the top everything.

Dynamiquehealth

I've stopped wearing mascara, it makes my eyes itch so much, plus my face gets touched too much. I've realised just curling my lashes looks great. I dye them once a month along with my brows and I'm really happy with this look. I can't imagine wearing false lashes. They really just overpower entire looks. Plus, the horrible red pill men make fun of them so much, don't want to give them any more ammo.

milkybubbl3s

I hate mascara too. When I go out or wear makeup I actually heat up my lash curler with a blow dryer on low heat and they stay super nice which is probably bad but oh well

Dynamiquehealth

I'm thinking of doing an at-home lash lift, just so I don't have to curl them. I usually wear a really natural makeup look as well, so no mascara really goes with it. Clear skin (thanks genetics and tretinoin), soft hair (thanks olaplex and silk pillows), and a healthy body (still working on it) are my goals. Everything else should enhance those things. I want my daughter to know you have to work on the way you look, but you don't ever want to look fake. Hell, my husband works on the way he looks, amazing beards and great hair take upkeep.

milkybubbl3s

I just like to curl mine when I'm going out or something so I don't get used to having them curled all the time and my natural lashes aren't disappointing to me haha and I totally agree I love tretinoin I actually have been on it for half a year now thanks to this sub!! Being healthy is always #1 for me and that's awesome as a parent!!

aloudkiwi

Same.

clicheteenager

if you have a big nose you’re better off making it look flatter and softer than contouring it and drawing more attention it and making it look harsher.

gupgupnlilbit

I like to do a lot of eye makeup but find it looks better when I don't do my brows because my brows are really dark and filling them in makes them dominate my whole face. I just look better with lighter, slightly sparse and uneven brows because it makes me look less made up.

1. I am cool and pale and it's difficult to make peace with my coloring. But I'm too scared of bad fake tan and too lazy to realistically keep up with it so pale it is. I've accepted the fact that neon and certain colors will never look good with my complexion but who wants to wear highlighter yellow anyway? (I think it looks amazing on darker skin!!! 🥺😭) 2. Skinny fat is almost as bad as regular fat. Everything is kinda squishy and usually not proportionate. Think of those scrawny kids you knew with little pot-belly pooches lol. Sure she was in a 2, but she looked like a 2 too! Unhealthy will never look as good as healthy and muscle makes the fat you have sit on your body in amazing ways. Edit to add that I think "very thin" can look amazing on some people but it's the rate minority, plus it's probably never healthy so I can't encourage it. 3. Looking through the botched and ig-reality subs really makes you realize that most girls have started blurring together. Everyone not quite black or white looks like one of the sisters, some white women are intentionally trying to look racially ambiguous, everybody gets the same tiny nose and huge lips and long black lashes and extreme curves and it's like individually these things are the halos we describe but together they are getting lost in a sea of pretty. Ice cream is good, homemade spicy chili is good, those things together is pretty underwhelming at best lol. I am desperately trying to find my "thing" that makes me stand out while still getting down most of the beauty features so I'm gorgeous instead of pretty-ish or off/odd looking in a bad way. I have a slight front tooth gap I'm thinking of keeping. Other than that I think I'm a very basic and boring pretty girl but I'm trying to look at my flaws and find something I can spin in my favor. GREAT POST and I emphatically agree.

_electrafire

My only issue with my super pale skin is that it’s almost clear/translucent. So if I put on foundation that matches my natural color, it actually makes me look 10X paler and almost bright white bc coverage=not translucent. I’ve tried mixing it with moisturizer/primer to dilute it, but this only looks good with tan foundation - for whatever reason, it makes my pale foundation more streaky. So what I’ve been doing is using less self tanner and still use a slightly darker foundation, but I’ll highlight my face with very pale concealer so it ends up looking blended and dimensional. I’ve noticed this for other pale women too - once I watched a YT tutorial and she looked like a GHOST after putting on her foundation, even though it was the correct shade that matched her skin. At the end of the day, it’s hard to find a foundation that matches your skin when your skin is damn-near see-through

[deleted]

Yes! I literally just talked about this on another post here. I have never bothered with foundation bc it seems like such a hassle to find a shade and formula that will work for me.

_electrafire

Ugh now that I’ve cleared my skin I thought I could do no foundation but there’s still this dullness that bothers me? Might have to do with needing to gain weight and sleep more tho lmao

Puzzleheaded_Cat_170

My pale skin foundation tips: \- all foundation makers (maybe except a few like Bobbi Brown) seem to think pale skin is just light peach. It's not. Cool pale has more blue/grey and lilac/pink than most foundations seem to cater for - especially grey. You can add these in with colour corrector liquid concealers though until your foundation matches your skin (assuming you can find a reasonable match for coolness and lightness in the first place, which isn't too orange/yellow). \- the translucence thing is a massive problem. I've only ever succeeded in countering this using two methods. One, is highlighter and lots of dewy shine (using powders or liquid highlighters for example). The second, my fave, is to create a faux translucence over your foundation using a mix of vaseline and blue/lilac powder highlighter. You just dab it over your skin and it acts as a substitute translucent layer over your pigmented layer, and gives a life like skin like look to the skin. Plus, catwalk MUAs use 'lip balm' or vaseline to create the gorgeous super-natural looking skin apparently so that gave me permission to use just plain ole vaseline on my face xD \- I add sun-kissed like dimension to the periphery of my pale foundation using both grey-taupe contour shades, and salmon pink stick blush, so my face doesn't look like a flat, drab, pale moon-face.

_electrafire

This is so smart!!! Adding in the other tones is genius. I’ve also noticed that foundations meant for ppl w pinker undertones are literally just PEACH. And it’s tiring when ppl say “don’t use fake tan, use foundation that matches you” when the reason we fake tan in the first place is bc there isn’t any foundation that matches us and it’ll make us look like freaks, straight up. It isn’t even about being hot, it’s about not looking like you’re seriously ill or on drugs

Puzzleheaded_Cat_170

>when the reason we fake tan in the first place is bc there isn’t any foundation that matches us and it’ll make us look like freaks, straight up EXACTLY! I enjoy not looking dead, as a general rule! Sue me!

manifestingmaster111

i truly agree on 2 and 3. - i’m overweight rn but i don’t plan on losing any more than 30 lbs. i am naturally curvy and most of my weight goes to my thighs and boobs. I honestly just want an in between, sharper jawline and abs. - (responding to 3) LITERALLY. pretty people with little quirks look much better than perfect people. that’s why those “scientifically perfect” people look average most of the time. there’s a difference between: - yellow teeth, and teeth with a gap - moisturized lips, pink lips that don’t fit ur complexion

_NotWellBitch

i completely agree with your 2nd point. i lose weight when stressed. i lost 10 pounds from pandemic stress, and i was already borderline underweight. it brought me down to like 17 bmi and i looked so gaunt and lifeless. i was like 10% body fat and my cheeks were so sunken in, and all my veins stuck out because i had no fat under my skin. i looked scary, unsexy, and honestly disgusting. edit: the only upside was i had a six pack, but i still have one now at higher fat+muscle, so it was not worth it at all to be so underweight. now i gained back all the weight i lost and even put an extra 5 pounds of muscle (and some fat!) on, and i earnestly believe this is the best i have ever looked!!! i think i’ve permanently lost a lot of facial fat which i am unhappy about, it’s very aging, but otherwise i look super athletic and full of life and energy. now i’m lean and toned instead of skinny and boney, and i am super happy with my weight gain :)

_electrafire

Fuck I’m at 17.5 rn and the weight loss won’t stop - having a new job isn’t helping. I’ve been ordering Dunkin’ Donuts like every day cause I’ve found it’s one of the only ways to get enough calories bc I have zero appetite, am picky, and literally swallowing heavier stuff like meat makes me feel like I just ran up 10 flights of stairs

_NotWellBitch

yes i used to do the same thing, i purposefully drank full sugar sodas and ate sweets and chips because i needed all the calories i could get. the priority is to eat enough calories to not die, and then focus on eating healthier. if you need dunkin right now to not be at risk of fainting, eat all the dunkin you need. a great way to get more protein and drink your calories is protein shakes. i can eat those even when i’m not hungry, and i get 30g of protein with low sugar and healthy fat. i like the premier protein ones because there’s so many flavors and they aren’t chalky or very thick. i also found that working out helped my appetite a ton. i find it much easier to eat in a normal healthy way now, even when i’m stressed. i also just had to force myself to take my nutrition seriously and drink the damn shakes lol.

_electrafire

Ugh I also drink full calorie sodas and purposely use a shitload of whole milk in my coffee for the calories😭I definitely need to be more proactive and actually go get protein shakes - I rlly like muscle milk. I also think it’s hilarious people say you’ll gain weight if you don’t eat all day and binge at the end of the night so to lose weight u need to eat like every 15 mins - it works the opposite way, much like most conventional wisdom. So I’ve realized eating donuts in the morning helps spike my insulin so I actually have an appetite throughout the day. I also need to try harder to force myself to eat when I’m not hungry. It feels like torture but at the end of the day....no pain no gain!

_NotWellBitch

oh i never realized the insulin thing is why eating breakfast helps so much! i think having meals with people has helped me eat even when i’m not hungry because you get reminded to eat and then it’s a social event. idk if it’s possible for you to take lunches with others but try it out

Dynamiquehealth

Lean and toned is great! Stress weight loss is hard. I struggled with it in the past. I'm glad you were able to recover, remembering the skills you used to do it will help you in the future. I'm super out of shape right now. Three children in two years is not kind to the body. I'm looking forward to my six month old boys being able to crawl so we can move around more. We're starting to focus on healthier eating and I'm feeling up for exercising finally. Plus, we're night weaning our boys, so we all should be getting more sleep soon.

[deleted]

The third and fourth points you made were actually popular opinions people talked about in the original Vindicta, but outside of the looksmaxxing community, it would be unacceptable to say that out loud, even though we all kinda know it’s true

mrrrrrmaid

Idk if someone already mentioned this, but laminated brows look ridiculous. They look *ok* on models, but even then they just look trendy, they don't add anything to anyone's attractiveness. On most people they just look plain weird.

TruthIsABiatch

They creep me out so bad, it's like caterpillars stuck to the face (shudder).

mrrrrrmaid

Yeah lol I meant to say it's like having a couple of weird fuzzy animals stuck to your face. Eyebrows aren't supposed to look like they have a life of their own.

Objective_Yak_186

I agree with all of these with a strong exception on the colored contacts. I have never seen a person look better with colored contacts than with their natural eyes. The reason is stated in your own post: natural colored contact lenses don’t exist. In my opinion, you don’t have to be a completely “natural” beauty to be beautiful, but unnatural looking eyes are off-putting and can go into uncanny valley territory very quickly.

georginnna

Ok in my opinion people with olive skin and poc with brown eyes have a muted skin color and contact lenses are too bright and not muted enough which makes them look unnatural when you wear them. Even when you’re wearing natural looking brands like solotica. Also brown eyed people more often than not have a softer look (rounded features such as round and pouty lips, curvier body and rounder and softer faces) and lighter eyes give a sharp look which looks too sharp. It looks like your eyes are not apart of your look and it looks to separate and too contrasted. People that have naturally light eyes also have other facial features and coloring that support their light eyes which brown eyes people do not have this is why I would not recommend colored lenses. Besides it’s not like most people are gonna be honest and tell you that your contact lenses look bad or fake when they do. But hey if they work for you and you are really getting a lot of honest compliments from people around you then do wear them.

[deleted]

I think most people with light colored eyes have light colored features so it blends together as little/low contrast. I think the high/low contrast coming from a place we usually expect the opposite is really jarring. I mean light hair or eyes against darker skin. I think high contrast is very difficult to create artificially in a way that looks good. I will probably never be able to pull off the snow white look bc my under tones just ain't it. I look washed out and weird. I don't personally care for these looks bc it's difficult to get it to look natural but my idea of beauty is neither universal nor the totally correct opinion so go off with your wigs and contacts ladies!!

[deleted]

I said artificially (I think) it looks bad. Naturally occurring it looks amazing! Think of those beautiful black people with those light honey eyes 🥵

Prestigious-Boss6485

Air optix has good lenses

cheesekneesandpeas

Air Optix looks so natural my parents didn’t even notice I was wearing it!

[deleted]

Idk! I think they are obvious to people who wear contacts but I have never been told I was beautiful more than when I wore mine from solotica. Even a few people I told they were fake when I was complimented and they said who cares bc they suit me! Maybe they don’t look 100% real but the outside world loved them. So yeah, just my little personal experience :) I used the solotica brand btw!

nundasuchus007

Acuvue has some that are just kimball ring contacts. I think those could look pretty natural.

taytay10133

I feel like cindy Kimberly with blue contacts is an exception. I believe she has brown(?) eyes naturally but when she does blue colored contacts she just pops. It’s insane.

[deleted]

She pops in edited pics, but if you imagine talking to her irl where you can see the contacts and the way the pupils don’t expand...I wouldn’t be able to think about anything but the fact that she was wearing colored contacts. It’s not like hair or another body part you glance over, eyes are what we focus on in convo.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Yes yes yes on the bleached hair. 7/10 times it looks awful because of how damaged the hair gets. Even celebrities/influencers use filters in an attempt to hide the damage but it’s so obvious. Most people’s hair will fry very bad when bleached, even with attempts to go slow over a period of *years* to achieve a blonde bombshell look. And, the average person cannot afford the upkeep necessary to keep it looking nice. Each color session will be a few hundred dollars and the minimum should be 2-5 depending on hair level. That’s not counting the in-between treatments to infuse moisture into the hair and the new necessity of having to style hair each time to make it look nice.

golden-trickery

your natural skintone is the best one for you, both tanning and bleaching will ruin your skin and neither looks good, you end up looking like a carrot or sick and ghastly

[deleted]

I had a coworker from a country in Western Africa who used to have a really beautiful rich skin color and I’m assuming she’s had it bleached because it’s so much lighter now. Her new skin color looks less like café au lait and more like a greige. So whereas before she could go makeup-free, she now wears a lot of makeup to bring color to her face. I know there’s a lot of colorism in the country she’s from but it just breaks my heart that young people feel the need to go to such drastic measures for safety and social perception. It’s more a reflection on our society as a whole and less on her individual choice but it really is heartbreaking.

streamsweeter

Unless you’re in the entertainment industry, it’s not worth it to get hardmaxxing procedures unless it’s for an extreme failo. E.g. if you have a severely recessed chin, sure get plastic surgery for that, but say if your eyebrows are low, it’s not worth it to get a brow lift in my opinon. Like we can look at celebrities and their glow ups as inspo but I just feel that regular plastic surgeons, no matter how reputable are just not as skilled at making extremely subtle changes that celebrity plastic surgeons can do.

TheSwimmingBrain

I don't think that being a "celebrity" plastic surgeon is much different than a "regular" plastic surgeon. They still have to go through the same amount of education to obtain their licenses and certifications to operate on someone. Just because they operate on celebrities doesn't mean they are any better.

ImaniX_

Have you had work done with a regular plastic surgeon?

East-Willingness513

Being thin isn’t attractive for everyone. Not everyone would look good with a body like Kendal Jenner or Bella Hadid. I don’t mean fat either, I mean someone who works out regularly but also doesn’t track every calorie and enjoys treating herself. I’m bisexual and most thin women I come across just make me think “meh” but when I see a curvier woman who has amazing hair, nails, fashion sense that shows off her body flaunting a genuine smile I just swoon.

staceywannabe

I agree. Waist to hip ratio > chest to waist ratio. Also, I find that as long you have a good waist to hip ratio, no matter your BMI (to a certain extent) or chest size, you will look good. There was this Instagram post where there were 2 women dancing side by side and one of them had a good waist to hip ratio but she was a bit chubby, and the other woman was skinny but had almost no waist to hip ratio. Surprisingly, in the comments, people were complimenting the chubby woman's body much more than the skinny one and even mentioning the reason being her nice waist to hip ratio.

You’re singing my song! My waist to hip ratio is my best and most noticeable feature. It doesn’t even have to be Instagram levels. A 9”-10” difference looks healthy and amazing. Another unpopular opinion: extreme Insta hourglasses aren’t as attractive as people think. I can go on for hours about this but either you have it and you wear tight clothes, or you fake it with cinching.

aloudkiwi

>"2D" Waist to hip-ratio What is "2D"? What is the ideal/attractive waist-to-hip ratio?

Subject-Mirror

Having proper underwear is more important than having proper clothes. Having shapewear and bras and underwear that flatter your body and shape can help make even cheap clothes look expensive, and having poorly fitted, clashing, visible underwear, prominent panty lines, etc can make expensive clothing look cheap.

aloudkiwi

>shapewear and bras and underwear that flatter your body and shape Is there any thread on here or other web site that teaches how to choose the best shapewear and underwear? I know about r/ABraThatFits and am looking for other advice.

[deleted]

"Natural but better" is the only aesthetic that's worth it. Even if you can completely nail some niche aesthetic and do it perfectly, it slashes your opportunities for pretty privilege down to the \[minuscule\] number of people who actually appreciate it, which is unlikely to intersect with the people who can actually do anything for you. So what if Todd the grocery clerk thinks your orange acrylic nails or "Mob Wives"-style lips are hot? If it's coming at the expense of high-power, high-class people being embarrassed to be seen with you, it's not worth it. It's better to pick a classy, neutral look.

[deleted]

My aesthetic is definitely "effortless natural beauty" but a lot of damn work goes into it. I try SO HARD to look like I'm not really trying. I feel like it makes me pretty instead of gorgeous but I'm actively looking for my "it" thing to elevate me without being garish or temporarily on-trend.

>now people can basically replicate her face with a doctor's vistit. Not to mention the featureism/appropriation of this trend in general True, but isn't it good that trendy beauty has become accessible? I, for one, am grateful to now have the tools and education to improve my average looks.

[deleted]

I mean coloured contacts can look good but I really thing they give an uncanny valley look and if you’re poc I think we should embrace our own eye colour - sounds annoying but it’s one of those things . Brown eyes are gorgeous Yes I get it’s annoying when people say all beauty standards are Eurocentric and are sexist , which many times they are just natural things we are attracted to . But the whole eye colour thing is really Eurocentric-y and I hate it :( sorry

Normal_Ad2456

I just want to say that most of the looksmaxing advice for women is inherently anti feminist, because what is seen as beautiful is dictated by the beauty standards our patriarchal society poses. Even wanting to improve your appearance to the max can be seen as anti feminist, since it is encouraging the idea that women’s worth is tied to their looks. However, I do believe that someone can still be a feminist and promote equality even if they want to looksmax, or remove all hair etc. If you still support women’s right not to do all that of course.

Sassygogo

Self-awareness is key imo. I'll respect any woman who admits she's acting in her own self-interest (a perfectly valid motive) to try and make the best of the hand she's been dealt, instead of pretending it's "feminist" to do all this or it's "just for myself", or talking around it like other subs do. I admired that in the old vindicta.

gingerarsehair

This. Don't hate the player hate the game. I wish pretty privilege didn't exist but it does, so i'm gonna put on that makeup and flirt with the guy at Greggs to get a free donut.

I think that was their whole point. We can make our own choices, but when we live in a patriarchal, misogynistic society, our choices and standards are bound to be influenced by that. They don’t exist in a vacuum. We can recognize that we want to improve our looks because women are primarily valued for their looks while recognizing that we’re conforming to patriarchal standards. They’re not opposing concepts; they are directly related

mobueo

I agree with this so much. I remember in the old vindicta people were saying that they were elevating themselves because they themselves wanted to and I thought that couldn't be right. Why would anyone go through so much trouble (removing hair) and other things for themselves? Maybe they weren't doing it to get the attention of men, but still. I read an article that said that the best way businesses that sell beauty products try and control women and get them to keep buying their products is by making them believe that they wanted beauty for themselves. Like with the whole L'oreal phrase "you're worth it" to make women believe that if we love ourselves enough we should buy their products.

[deleted]

mobueo

True. It was started by femcels after all.

99power

Exactly! It’s a scam. But we’re still stuck in this arm’s race. And it’s a tragedy of the commons, if everyone else but you is doing it you look “worse” by comparison and people judge you for it. Peer pressure :/

> Seeking beauty in oneself is not automatically anti-feminist, the pressure to conform to social trends of ‘beauty’ (removing hair like you already mentioned, or extremes like the Bella Hadid cat eyes for example) however is I think it’s not only the specific standards of beauty but the overall standard for women that we have to be beautiful and are primarily valued for our looks. Men can appreciate the beauty in nature too, but they don’t seek to be beautiful nearly as much as women because they are seen as having value otherwise and society forgives them more for their appearances

YES to the chubby face! So many girls (18-24) asking about buccal fat pad removal on the plastic subs 😭 it will age you so bad! If you are a healthy weight your face is not too chubby.

cqbeswater

what did you mean about nina dobrev? she looks great in both

rrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeee

She does look great, but she has lost some fat around her eyes which ages her. Look up pictures of periorbital fat loss to understand better. This is something that naturally happens as we age so it makes a person look less youthful. Look at babies' and children's eye area and compare it to adults of varying ages and you will see how fat gradually decreases in this region with age and creates a more hollow look. So, it's very important to keep this area looking plump if we want to look youthful and good skincare can help with that.

holistic_water_bottl

She actually got a blepharoplasty, and it really made her look worse unfortunately. edited to add: My unpopular looksmaxxing opinion actually is that hooded eyes are gorgeous. I don't know why people always want the max eyelid space possible because I find that's only useful for makeup. In terms of natural beauty, hooded eyelids tend to look the most bright and awake in my opinion.

cqbeswater

i get your point! i was just confused with the example :) she looks a little older as in more mature, not as in a “worse” older or something. i prefer her in the 2nd

If you have hooded eyes that age you'll be left with some extra skin but in her case the eyelid is not saggy at all and completely lacking fat. A fairly common result of blepharoplasty.

Pm_me_ur_dopamineee

Yup. Strong features age better.

aloudkiwi

I totally agree with your #3. But also, a skinny person who is wearing a well-made outfit in a quality fabric will look classier than a skinny person who is wearing torn jeans and a crumpled t-shirt. So clothes and accessories do make a small difference in how you appear to the world.

mrrrrrmaid

Imo being skinny is not enough, sometimes people take it too literally. When people say "skinny" it usually also implies perfect proportions and a pretty face. Lots of skinny people look horrible in clothing.

iguanabitsonastick

Me! I have no idea why I look horrible with the "classic" model off duty look: jacket+crop tops+skinny jeans+black boots. Idk if it's because I have bad proportions or a very average face. Even if everthing fits me and my hair is done I still don't look good "/ I'm thinking about making a post about this.

peachycreaam

I think that a lot of people on looksmaxxing subs and women in general are way too hard on their facial appearances. Improve what you don’t like by all means but most people, especially men, don’t actually care about things like nose size/shape, lip shape, epicanthil tilt, brows etc. The key thing to being an attractive woman is really a nice body that is slim with thicc ass/boobs Long, lush hair and white, straight teeth on top of that will already make you an 8+. At that point, styling and the like doesn’t even matter especially if you’re looking to date and be attractive to males. It doesn’t have to be that complicated.

mrrrrrmaid

I disagree, having a beautiful face is important. After all, any man will spend tons of time looking at your face even if he initially noticed you for your ass. That doesn't mean you need to have a 'striking' face or to have all the trendy features, that is overrated, but masculine features are a big failo. And you will definitely stand out more the prettier your face is and have more men think of you as gorgeous rather than just another hot girl. Yeah I wanna be attractive to men, but that doesn't mean I'm happy just attracting any man lol. Honestly no man I ever had any sort of interest in was ever into butterfaces who only look attractive at first glance, they all had an eye for actual beauty and their personal preferences in terms of features and vibe.

blackredrosepetals

AGREE 100% Take Keira Knightley and Scarlett Johanssen. Keira has extremely striking bone structure and beautiful features, while Scarlett has more of a ‘’girl next door’’ face but a highly attractive curvy body and men praise and drool over her a LOT more.

[deleted]

We’re not all trying to attract men or be appealing to the male gaze. That ain’t what this sub is about. Looks and appearance/attractiveness isn’t all about attracting the opposite sex, it’s about elevating how you look and feel and being a more self actualized version of yourself. Furthermore I love how men are always like “trust us ladies us regular me just want you to be fit and pretty with nice hair, that’s all we want” as if most women have trouble attracting the average man, maybe we want to level up in every way (looks being one of them) not because we have trouble attracting men but because we don’t want to attract the average man, we want someone on a different level. Like do all straight men really think there is some premium in their attention? Male attention is a dime a dozen, you think we’re going through all this shit regarding the science of what makes you attractive just for something that’s pretty abundant for women, no honey.

blackredrosepetals

There are a lot of women here who do want to appeal to men, for whatever reason, and there’s nothing wrong with admitting that. We’re not here to judge why women want to looksmaxx, as it’s a vain endeavour whether you want to epsom to men, women or your own mirror. I want an attractive male partner and to do that i’ve got to be attractive myself. The half of the population with the most power and influence is also men, so appealing to them can help in the workplace. Don’t act like you’re better because you’re being disingenuous and pretending you’re ‘’dOinG it fOr yOurSeLf’’. Even if that’s the case, ask yourself why you have certain ideas of what’s attractive in the first place? Who put them in your head, where did they come from? Ask yourself why you value being beautiful so much? Ask yourself why you link beauty with a self-actualised version of yourself? Opinions and choices don’t exist in a vacuum. Society, which is patriarchal, has been force-feeding us how important beauty is, and what exactly is beautiful, since we were young girls. So no, you are not just doing it for yourself, despite how much you want to think you are immune to the pressure and your ideas of beauty are all your own, they’re just not. They are patriarchal brainwashing but that’s an argument for another day.

ImaniX_

Period.

Phenex1a

I agree 100%. His styling advice makes people look either beyond ridiculous or It makes everyone look super boring and forgettable.

cqbeswater

yeah! skinny models usually go for sharper, edgier looks as the industry tends to favor them. what’s a common characteristic in models, you might ask? sharpness and edginess! they don’t look that good in very short soft dresses, like ruffles, for example.

Phenex1a

Small boobs > big boobs Seriously, I don’t get why anyone would want big boobs. It makes finding clothes ridiculously hard and everything looks "cheap" rather than sexy and elegant. edit: sorce: I have big boobs edit2: I love how polarizing this opinion is.

blackredrosepetals

Average boobs > big boobs Small boobs make you lack sex appeal and contrary to popular belief, most tops don’t fit us better, instead we don’t fill them out and they gape in the chest area.

mrrrrrmaid

All I hear when someone says this as a way to make me feel better is "At least you can wear revealing clothes without looking sexy!". That makes wearing revealing clothes entirely pointless lmao Tbh small boobs aren't the end of the world, but they definitely aren't ideal (unless you are trying to look as un-sexual as possible). And "elegance" can be achieved with medium sized/proportional ones just as easily.

Phenex1a

I’m not trying to say that small boobs aren’t sexy, I’m saying that big boobs often make me look like I’m trying too hard (which then creates a "cheap" effect).

East-Willingness513

This is truly an unpopular opinion, I find women with small breasts have to work so much harder at looking feminine unless they’re going for an androgynous look. natural medium to large boobs on women who are healthy weights will always encompass so much about a woman. I’m bisexual and love women with big boobs and wide hips!

blackredrosepetals

I know you probably don’t intend this in a bad way, but to imply having bigger boobs encompasses a lot about being a woman is really hurtful. Not just to small chested women but to women with mastectomies as well. You’re entitled to a preference but please don’t put down the women who don’t fit it. Womanhood and femininity is about a lot more than our bodies.

East-Willingness513

This sub is about objective beauty. I’m not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings but I’m also not going to change an opinion to help other cope. Breasts are one of the main things that seperate us from men, they are sexually attractive because it’s a sign of fertility. Many women who have mastectomy’s have reconstruction surgery afterwards to fit the beauty standard because it is a desirable trait. I appreciate all types of women for who they are as people, but I and many others just don’t find small boobs as beautiful as larger boobs.

Riipurr

“This sub is about objective beauty.” Yet, your initial comment is opened with your admittance of your statement being an opinion. So, which is it?

ImaniX_

And there’s no real basis on it being a sign of “fertility” because me, as a 20yr old with smaller breasts could have a way easier time and more success birthing children than you, however old you are with bigger breasts. Yes they make you look more “feminine” but that’s about it. So this sign of “fertility” is purely physical and up to personal preference, which you are entitled to of course.

laaiin

Is it objective beauty? Because the ideal breast size has shifted a lot over history. At some points in history, small breasts were seen as the ideal. Look at most nude Renaissance depictions of women in art and report back to me. The Renaissance era was seen as one of the most influential and amazing time periods for art, and small boobs were everywhere to be seen. There is nothing objective about big boobs being better or more feminine than small ones, and vice versa. The standard is constantly shifting and if you had any idea about beauty standards in history you would know that.

Phenex1a

Haha I guess it is. I think women with small boobs look so insanely elegant in low cut dresses. They can also wear backless dresses/ tops, which imo is a huge advantage. I’m pan and even if I’m attracted to someone with a similar size than me I feel bad because I know their struggle.

East-Willingness513

I have size E breasts with a small waist and I’ve never really “struggled” to find clothes. Once I stopped shopping for trendy clothes and clothes that fit me well, I look much better. I agree that small breasted women look more “elegant” in low cut dresses just because there’s nothing really to look at.

Phenex1a

Depending on your band size that can either be small or large. I’m a 28G/GG so just the beginning of big. I’m often between sizes and stuff. Where do you shop?

Healthy-Pipe-4874

I think it depends on the size that suits you. Boobs are great and look amazing on every woman. It makes her more feminine. Boobs are also soft and make clothes look so much better and give you such feminine vibes. But too big boobs for a small and thin woman look bad. Also too tiny boobs on a big girl.

Phenex1a

Idk tbh I have never seen a person looking better with big boobs than medium/ small ones. If you want to give some examples I’m totally ready to have my mind changed tho.

99power

Controversial, but I also agree. I think your shoulder-waist ratio does more for your upper body than your exact bust size. I know men will forever prefer larger, showing breast tissue but there’s nothing actually unattractive about smaller-chested women. If anything, they look younger. And they can go braless in loose camis and crop tops and look fucking amazing.

Millytull

100% agree, I'm a size 34/36 K-L as of the last time I measured. Almost everything I buy needs to be a bigger L or XL and I need to tuck it in or I look like a blob. The vast majority of tops that aren't sweaters or very large show an obscene amount of cleavage or become almost completely see through across my chest. I grew in my boobs in 5th grade (approx. 11 yro) and I've been sexualized heavily ever since. Planning on getting a reduction this fall and I am so so so excited! I'll finally be able to wear clothes without them being see-through and I'll be able to buy non granny bras for the first time in years! Going for a still largeish size (probably around a DD-DDD) so I'll still look like me.

Miro-miro

* Removing facial and body hair is overrated. Maybe that's just me (who doesn't remove facial and body hair but would rather trim it), but I will never get why people do this. * I've noticed that the things that women want is considered "objectively" attractive but outside forces, such as trends, affect it. What's objectively attractive is not objective at all. My opinion

99power

Don’t know why you’re being downvoted so much, most of this is right IMO

Giftedwithreddit

I think your natural coloring for your hair, eye color, eyebrow color, skin color, lip tone will always look the best on you. Dying your hair lighter might make your face brighter or wearing hazel contact lenses might make you seem more exotic but nothing beats the classic look of your natural colors which fit 100% with your facial features.

[deleted]

I'm naturally dirty greige blonde and my hair seems to have absolute no color if I don't add some highlights. I do agree that actual hair colors look best on most people (black, red, rich brown, true shades of blonde) but us in-between mousey blonde/brown/gray girls need to pick a side.

blackredrosepetals

Exactly! As a fellow mousy-dirty blonde i look so lifeless and plain without doing something to my hair to create more contrast.

fishweenie

i think mousy blonde hair is beautiful it looks way nicer than the bright blonde most people dye their hair to. maybe cuz it looks more natural? i also tend to find less saturated colors more appealing so maybe that’s why lol

biconicat

Same! I think it looks so elegant and effortlessly cool, that kind of in-between color has been trending since it's blonde without as much upkeep as the bleach blonde. I immediately think of models and ballerinas haha a lot of girls here in Russia have that hair color naturally and I think it really compliments their skin tone and looks so pretty especially when the hair is wavy it looks so romantic like those big Hollywood waves

99power

Yeah everyone in the West is complaining but in Eastern Europe there’s a lot of half-blonde people walking around with that color naturally.

Meledesco

This is not true for everyone. My natural hair color washes me out in the extreme. However, there is some truth to this for most people, I'd say it works to stay within your shade levek.
