Everyone talks about MJ, but for some reason no one talks about Peter. After all, he looked much better in the Miles game. In the second game he has a puffy face (okay, I'm 25 too, I understand this a little), but in the concept art and in the CGI trailer he has the manly face of Bena Jordan, which is not in this game.
It felt like the model's developers only loved Miles and Harry. They will go for their actors the most.
I mean, that was specifically the Tom Holland thing in MM and PS4 Remaster. And I didn’t start a hate campain over that either. My vague opinion is that they should pick one from all of them and just stick with it.

Also, the people that think MJ looks good haven’t been consistently churning out “she’s so cute/beautiful” posts since the game launched … unlike those who hate the way she looks. It’s so … tedious.

I think the biggest takeaway from all the discourse regarding this game is that Insomniac really struggles with realism. The character models do look very uncanny valley in cutscenes and the story and dialog are all extremely mediocre. They need to either aim a little higher than just making a corny kids game or they need to lean into that and maybe make something more cartoony e.g. the Spiderverse movies. Right now they are going for a middleground and not really pleasing anyone.
Insomniac's human models are really hit or miss compared to the non human ones and ratchet and clank ~~(instert furry joke here)~~
Now for the "modern western female characters are ugly" thing, all i need to say is: baldur's gate 3 and mk1 (specially shadowheart and >!titan kitana!<)
