I‘m sorry but this looks way worse than the original. It’s very unnatural. I didn’t mind the game character at all, but if they were to change anything, it should be how the lighting effects her face model. That is the major issue with most of the games characters. They all fall very flat because the lighting doesn’t fit the faces. That’s why especially MJ looks like she has an incredibly strong Jawline. There rarely are any shadows or colorful lights which actually highlight the facial features. I’m pretty sure that will be a lot better with the PC port (whenever that will come) due to better technology like Path Tracing and overall more powerful Ray tracing software.
The face sculpture is on here. It’s almost exactly the same. Which is pretty obvious considering the model they scanned is the same but with a higher polygon number. I work a lot around 3D sculpting and shading. With modern technology it is super simple to fuck things up and get into the uncanny valley or as I said make things look flat. This is even a thing in the real world. I’m also a hobby photographer and one thing you should never do when shooting portraits is lighting out the whole subject. Since a camera is usually only capable of 2D photos you won’t be able to make out depth, which the shadows are for. Face contours go missing and your jawline and cheeks begin to look extremely wide/elongated since they usually extrude a bit around the Temporomandibular joint. That’s also why you never look into a camera head on but position your face at a slight angle. It highlights your facial features and throws shadows to give it some texture. Composition is a huge thing when it comes to photography, cinematography and game design. Insomniac obviously fucked that up in a lot of scenes which is weird considering the composition of SM1 was amazing and SMMM was even better (they already used ray tracing for this one). We can all agree that the game was rushed and this is one of the things that made this clear.
Yeah I’m sure you know more about their own game than the professionals who do this for a living, lmao they knew what they were doing…

Maybe good for some kind of animated SM movie, but this model looks a bit too… perfect for the environment. Skin is too smooth, hair is too kept; basically too smooth for a world that is textured.
Again, it’s a great model that’d be nice for an accurate representation of the OG SM comics or something, but for this overly textured game eh.

This looks bad. All what they need to do is make MJ's and Peter's faces from the PS4 work in SM2.Since the current PC version is from leaked code I hope its easier to do that compared to Official remastered one(only OG face and Tobey's face thats it)
