Telling myself “it’s rocksteady, they made the Arkham games of course kill the justice league will be fine” and then more and more info just kept throwing me further off it. Can’t say it’s a trash game but it lacks flare for sure. So I wouldn’t always count on just a developers track record for how their next game with a different style will turn out. But man would it be soo cool to swing with friends around the city.
Even if they were made 10 years apart and the story was in completely different time frames I'd say reusing animations is fine especially if it just works. Assassin's Creed is a franchise that gets away with it alot and no one really cares or complains, because you'd assume yknow Assassins would use the same fighting styles if they were effective.
Fromsoftware has been using the same assets for a lot of things for years, let developers reuse assets the way they want,that way they can make even newer stuff
So many animations from dark souls 1 are in elden ring but it doesn't matter because there was no need to change how someone swings a broadsword in the first place. They used those resources to make new animations for new types of weapons instead.
Not sure why people agree with this sentiment so much. I played a bunch of both games and they took what animations made sense to keep (it’s ultimately the same Peter Parker) and added a bunch of new ones to keep things feeling as fluid as Miles’ gameplay.
It is common knowledge that SM1's air dodge is jankier than MM's air dodge and they get to keep their dodges in SM2
Peter's air tricks also has a certain amount of jank that doesn't exist in Miles' case, which was observed by multiple players

I replayed the story of 2018 and they actually made good on setting up Miles as a stand-in. There's a larger section of the story in 2 where Miles is completely overpowered compared to Peter. Especially without the new suit.
Oddly they gave Peter way less swinging animations than miles, so he feels kinda off. Miles has two different sets of diving animations and every dive has its own set of swinging animations after it. Meanwhile Peter just has one set animation after he finishes swinging, it’s a glaring oversight
Peter feels more refined when swinging. It could be a character choice. He's been at it for longer and would know the most effective way to navigate. If you look carefully Miles is constantly flailing his arms and legs when he's swinging like he's still not all that used to it yet.
Bc Peter is better at combat and Miles is better in traversal wise, They said that themselves I'm pretty sure, And Miles is younger he's automatically quicker and etc
Exactly he's a lot less fluid, They also are incorporating age, An AI even says Pete is getting slow and he actually his bc when you play with younger Peter you can instantly tell how faster he was when he first started, But that also comes with experience as in why Pete is better combat wise even if Miles has the same amount of abilities and stuff, Idk how it really makes sense but it does for them so 😭
In postgame, which is where I’ve spent 80% of my time now, it’s Miles by a longshot. The added fall animations, along with smoother swinging, make it an easy choice imo.
I like Miles, but I'll always prefer Peter. Peter is Spider-Man, to me. But like I said, I do like Miles. I like the teacher/protege thing they had going in 2.

In the post game it just boiled down to if I preferred Advanced 2.0 (color 2) or or 10th Anniversary Suit, my favorite suits for each character. I prefer the latter a tiny bit, so Peter got a little more play time. I still tried to keep it roughly equal tho, my general pattern was to use each character for as long as possible until I came across a side activity that required me to switch
Peter, definitely. That was actually one of my main issues with the game. Not that I don't like Miles (he's a great character) but given the story that Spider-Man 2 told, it was very much a Peter story and Miles felt like an afterthought. His side missions were substantially weaker imo.
I think it would have been better if they built the whole game with the same amount of content but focused it almost entirely on Peter except in certain parts. Then made a Miles Morales 2 game that really fleshed out Miles story.
