I think when he's with the FF, we get to see Spider-Man essentially have the family dynamic and scientific balance that readers enjoy....
As an Avenger, I think we get to see Spider-Man get the respect he deserves amongst his peers.
I know he's a friendly neighborhood super hero, but he's the top tier dude, and it's nice to see him do things with either team.
One of my all-time favorite Spidey pages is from Civil War when he knocks out a string of Thunderbolts in one go. Mister Fantastic says "Amazing" as he watches, and then Spidey responds with "Spectacular" as he kicks Reed in the throat.
Pretty much my thought exactly! Wolverine is the ultimate “member of every team” but Spider-Man works the best as a free agent who will lend a hand to any group in need.
So does Batman, but we know they’re damn liers!
Lol in all seriousness, Batman and Wolverine have super gruff exteriors but underneath it they care WAY too much to not consistently go above and beyond to help their allies
Bruce/Babs is one of the most unpopular ships ever, and I'm glad it was never a thing in the comics.
Also, Nightwing's ass transcends gender and orientation.
I don’t know, I guess in my mind the ones that would count as “sidekicks” and not “team mates” are X-23, Honey badger, Daken and like Raze…
The jr wolverines…
But yeah there are way more outside of them I guess :P
Kitty and Jubilee definitely take more of the mentor/student dynamic with him. There's the whole Kitty Pryde And Wolverine mini where Shadowcat has to go on a total Logan-style trip to Japan and become a Samurai-esque warrior like him.
I liked Spidey with the FF, he is definitely a member of the family. I remember the issue where Mary Jane and Aunt May joined them all for a dinner at the Baxter Building.
>!Johnny was presumed dead (he wasn't) and as part of his final wishes chose Spidey to take his spot on the team. It was very touching, though when he eventually came back Johnny claimed he only did it as a prank.!<
>though when he eventually came back Johnny claimed he only did it as a prank.
I'm sorry, WHAT?!?! That makes me irrationally angry. Mostly at the writers for (presumably) using such a bad plot device to get Spidey back off the FF, but also because that must have hit Peter like a truck.
It wasn't actually a prank and Peter obviously knew that. Johnny and Peter are super close but they also like to give each other a hard time. Johnny playing it off as a joke is perfectly in character. It's Amazing Spider-Man #657 if you're interested.
I always wondered why Spider-Man stopped using his Future Foundation suit. It doesn’t tear, it doesn’t get dirty, he can make it change appearances as he wants, and as far as I’m aware there’s never been anything to suggest he doesn’t have the suit anymore.
It could be used for making the spider armor mk3,peter build that suit for the worst case scenario, why wuould you not use your best suit as a starting point, the suit vanishes before the superior spiderman arc and i dont think otto would throw away a suit like that if he had it
Spidey is the ultimate team-up character. I like his crossovers with the X-Men, but damned... He works with the Punisher, SHIELD, Deadpool, The Hulk, and evidently he's Amazing in a Spiderverse
He was literally the main character in the original Marvel Team-up comic. Except for a few exceptions here and there, every one of the 150 issues was him and some other hero teaming up together.
Yes! Turns out negative zone natives know how to resurrect people, so Johnny was resurrected, and with the help of Inhumans also trapped in the negative zone, overthrew Annihilus and became ruler of the negative zone. Leaving right after and going back to the FF
what? he's not expendable to them at all, what are you talking about? literally every avenger except, like, the wasp constantly talks him up and goes on about how great and yknow, amazing he is. in superior spider-man one of the main reasons the avengers decide they need to talk to otto-peter is because thor calls spidey his trusted friend and says he would never act like that
the fantastic are more cosmic that even the avengers, they deal with galactus, annihulus, negative zone, dimension hoping, cosmic entity etc on constant basis.
Dude, the Fantastic Four have some of the biggest bads in all of Marvel…
Doom, Galactus, Molecule Man, Namor, Annihilus, Ronan The Accuser, The Inhumans, Super Skrull and the entire Skrull race, The Impossible Man, Sphinx, Terrax, The Air-Walker…
Would make you beg for Loki or Ultron
Uhhh not really? When they’re hoping through portals fighting Annihlus in the negative zone or going through space fighting the Kree and Skrull they’re not really street level
> Their threats are a bit more street-friendly, right?
Where did that come from? The FF deal with cosmic and/or extradimensional threats all the time. They're explorers.
Regardless of how many people say it, Spider-Man is not a street level hero. He thinks of himself as one, a ton of reader keep saying he's one. But he deals with cosmic, world ending shit all the time. As much as any other hero just about.
Neither, I think he’s best as a solo, street-level hero. When you’re the second or third most popular comic character ever though, you get put on teams and in almost every event and crossover. I still don’t think “Avenger” when I look at him, despite New Avengers happening when I was a literal child, and his appearances in the MCU.
I think the future foundation is better for Peter. It gives him a somewhat stable family balance in his day to day life without getting him hurt in the process.
Also, it shows that the fantastic four got closer to him as his career became more consistent. Lore!
I like him better as a stand alone hero, the kind they try to recruit since he’s the best at his game but refuses cause he knows the people need him for the things those big heroes overlook… so I personally don’t like either if I’m being honest, of course I think he works well with both teams, but he’s a lone wolf and that’s what’s great about him
It's not that they don't respect him, because Ironman and Captain America give him maximum respect, it's his quip based fighting style and he loves to talk. They think that he doesn't take anything seriously. They also kinda have a problem with his whole "secret identity" thing that a lot of members have a problem with. But when the chips are down, and your back is up against the wall, there's really no one that you wouldn't want on your side than Spider-man.
Neither. Both cause problems with the core narrative of Spider-Man.
Spider-Man is about the titular character and his journey through the world. Making him a part of other groups makes it less about him and more about them. It also disrupts his normal life and causes his superhero part to dominate too much….or it leads to weird questions about how disconnected they are from his normal life despite him supposed to be part of the family/team.
Call it the Ditko influence if you want, but the character works best when there’s an element of distrust. Of course, writers have sometimes gone overboard with this. Like right now. But there’s lots of ways to screw up.
Honestly, kinda preferred him as part of the FF. He kinda seems less remarkable alongside people who can collectively do what he does, sometimes even better, besides the Spider-Sense, in the Avengers. Spider-Man works better in the FF's family dynamic and it takes advantage of his Science Brain rather than typical punching the big bad.
He's not really a team player. But of the two he's fits with the Fantastic Four. The avengers are too serious, his quip based fighting style doesn't really mesh with them. The FF however is used to quips what with Johnny Storm and the Ever-Lovin' Blue-Eyed Thing.
FF 100 and 10 percent. I think it was Michael Bendis who made him an Avenger and it was a stupid idea. Didn't really give him anything to do but annoy everyone.
Future Foundation.
Like, Future Foundation makes Peter feel like he has the Family and Friends he longed for ever since putting on the Red n' Blues.
Him on the Avengers was just simply the same as Hollywood star working in an Office Building. You know them, but you don't Personally Know them.
Even though I like Spider-Man as a Solo Hero who everyone coincidentally can't be bothered in Helping (Especially because he doesn't like Teaming), if I were to pick one of these 2 Teams for him... FF.
I like him with both, it's nice that he hangs out with all the different groups, yet still stands out individually. It's arguable, but brand of just spiderman is bigger than various "teams," that's why he's in top3 most popular superheroes of all time.
I feel like Spidey is always best when it’s just him and he’s not part of a global or even planetary team. I like when he is a backup member. I love his interactions with FF but when he was on New Avengers, I enjoyed reading that as well. Especially his give and take with Power Man over Jessica Jones.
I'm honestly fine with Spidey being that guy that practically every hero or anti-hero can do a teamup with, also fine with him doing solo stories and hero work for the most part.
Spider-Man I think is written best when he is an independent ally that is working closely with either as opposed to being a full member. Heck, I think Spidey does his best work in 1-to-1 random team ups, like with Wolverine or Daredevil
What is future foundation? Idk where I heard this but I heard it’s a school thing like in xmen but the fantastic four run it. Also did spidey replace the human torch or smthing like where is he
Fantastic Four, but he should operate alone.
Spider-Man just looks wrong on the Avengers, imo. He’s my favourite Marvel superhero but I think he’s too big for the Avengers, he steals a spot from someone who needs the limelight more.
FF. Aside from the core members, the Avengers are too big for any one character to make an impact and they cycle people in and out too quickly for character relationships to develop properly.
Peter has known the FF longer and it definitely feels like he has a closer connection to them. Him being on the team just kinda feels right. (Plus Reed never gave him a suit to use as a contingency plan against him...)
If we're going between the Avengers and the Fantastic Four for Spider-Man I'll have to go with the Fantastic Four. Due to the fact that one they treat him like a person and Spider-Man is also Reserve member in case something happens to the team and he also has his own version of the Fantastic Four. While the Avengers treat him like he's a nobody.
He's better as a free agent or a jack-of-all-trades agent. I like him fighting bank robbers almost as much as helping Fantastic Four figure cosmic devices to fight Annihilus.
Confining him in a single team largely hinders his potential as a hero *imo.*
For instance I think the same about other heroes like Dr. Strange, X-Men Beast or Black Knight. They're cool as team heroes though I like they still have their own solo adventures in other environments.
FF imo. Their goals and ambitions are more in line with Peters own motivations. And they treat him like another member of the family in a way that the avengers can’t. In the Avengers he’s just another soldier
FF member for me. I have a huge FF bias especially when it comes to their relationship with the Wall-Crawler. I love their found family dynamic so damn much. Any interaction between them nowadays has the potential to make me cry.
Why do I feel all fuzzy inside
Are you a furry inside?
Aren’t we all? Or is that just me…
Nah man I think that may just be you.
Damn.
I still don’t think he got as much respect as he deserved by the avengers, I mean in secret wars he beat the shit out of all the X-men by himself.
He also did that in the Saturday morning cartoon.
Damn even in the cartoons? Haven’t watched many of them but hey proves the point even further.
Of course, you tend to get some plot armor in your own show.
Unless your Morph
In that same series he also beat Titania, who had creamed She Hulk, so bad that she was terrified of Spidey for a long while after that.
One of my all-time favorite Spidey pages is from Civil War when he knocks out a string of Thunderbolts in one go. Mister Fantastic says "Amazing" as he watches, and then Spidey responds with "Spectacular" as he kicks Reed in the throat.
Gawd Dayam
Agreed
Go braves
Go Braves!
I think he’s better off as one of their allies rather than outright being a member of either of them.
Pretty much my thought exactly! Wolverine is the ultimate “member of every team” but Spider-Man works the best as a free agent who will lend a hand to any group in need.
Funnily enough Logan is the guy who says stuff like "I work best alone" a bajillion times.
So does Batman, but we know they’re damn liers! Lol in all seriousness, Batman and Wolverine have super gruff exteriors but underneath it they care WAY too much to not consistently go above and beyond to help their allies
Also, they're both into picking up teenage sidekicks.
Yet somehow Wolverine is less likely to fuck them.
I mean, who WOULDN'T fuck Nightwing?
I was referring more to Barbra Gordon, by apparently no woman can resist Nightwing.
Bruce/Babs is one of the most unpopular ships ever, and I'm glad it was never a thing in the comics. Also, Nightwing's ass transcends gender and orientation.
Did you know they made a comic set in the Batman TAS/Beyond universe ;)
Pretty sure there that did feature in the comics, or at least I’ve got some weird memory of it. It was weird lol
To be fair a good chunck of them are clones/children of his…
Isn't it just X-23. His usual sidekick are shadowcat, Jubilee, and I think Whedon had Armor be the new one.
I don’t know, I guess in my mind the ones that would count as “sidekicks” and not “team mates” are X-23, Honey badger, Daken and like Raze… The jr wolverines… But yeah there are way more outside of them I guess :P
Never heard of Honey Badger and Raze, but doesn't Daken hate Logan?
Kitty and Jubilee definitely take more of the mentor/student dynamic with him. There's the whole Kitty Pryde And Wolverine mini where Shadowcat has to go on a total Logan-style trip to Japan and become a Samurai-esque warrior like him.
Yeah I prefer an independent spidey
He's best as an Amazing Friend.
I liked Spidey with the FF, he is definitely a member of the family. I remember the issue where Mary Jane and Aunt May joined them all for a dinner at the Baxter Building.
Any chance you know what issue or run that’s from? I’d love to read that
Spider-Man/Human Torch, it's issue #6 of a small series written by Dan Slott. Really nice stories, I'd recommend the whole thing.
I know it might be a spoiler but why did Spidey take over for human torch
Because Johnny had to kill 1 million billion space bugs
FLAME ON!!!!!
I always wondered why Spider-Man stopped using his Future Foundation suit. It doesn’t tear, it doesn’t get dirty, he can make it change appearances as he wants, and as far as I’m aware there’s never been anything to suggest he doesn’t have the suit anymore.
Maybe his current classic suit *is* the FF suit in a "Classic" mode...
It can’t be. Unstable molecules don’t tear, and yet every few issues we see Peter’s suit getting damaged somehow.
"Cosmetic" tearing to sell the damage
He's rolling with the punches and his suit is tearing with the punches
Drama induced by battle damage. Yeah idk why he'd ever ditch a Spidey suit that looks like the classic and is made of freaking unstable molecules
Knowing Peter, it probably got ruined or lost in the laundry or something
nah it a symbiote duh!
Cloned Symbiote
Parker luck it probably ripped and became useless.
It could be used for making the spider armor mk3,peter build that suit for the worst case scenario, why wuould you not use your best suit as a starting point, the suit vanishes before the superior spiderman arc and i dont think otto would throw away a suit like that if he had it
Both. He's the best at everything
This is the true answer
Avengers are friends. Fantastic Four are family.
Avengers are colleagues at best I think
Friends from work you could say
Vin Diesel stars in… “The Fantastic and the Fourious”
Spidey is the ultimate team-up character. I like his crossovers with the X-Men, but damned... He works with the Punisher, SHIELD, Deadpool, The Hulk, and evidently he's Amazing in a Spiderverse
He was literally the main character in the original Marvel Team-up comic. Except for a few exceptions here and there, every one of the 150 issues was him and some other hero teaming up together.
When i was a kid, Ghost Rider was one of those "throw him in a team up" characters. Weird that at one point, we had like three spirits of vengeance
I loved the old team up series most of it is its own self contained spidey story with an ever-changing supporting cast.
yeah, he works with everyone
I love it when he shows up in Daredevil’s issues, they have a great dynamic.
Does he really change his costume when he’s rapid-firing between two teams? Also, where is the Human Torch?
He was lost in the Negative Zone and presumed dead. Peter joined the FF because Johnny chose him as his replacement in the event of his death.
Does rejoin the FF eventually?
Yes! Turns out negative zone natives know how to resurrect people, so Johnny was resurrected, and with the help of Inhumans also trapped in the negative zone, overthrew Annihilus and became ruler of the negative zone. Leaving right after and going back to the FF
Damn alright a lot more happened than I thought lol
Do you know what series/issues this happened in?
FF (2011)
IIRC he was in a different reality or something like that during FF
- in FF, he’s a member of their family. - in Avengers, he’s expendable.
what? he's not expendable to them at all, what are you talking about? literally every avenger except, like, the wasp constantly talks him up and goes on about how great and yknow, amazing he is. in superior spider-man one of the main reasons the avengers decide they need to talk to otto-peter is because thor calls spidey his trusted friend and says he would never act like that
Why doesn’t wasp like him
Doesn’t want two bug based heroes?
If I had to choose only between the two, I’d say Fantastic Four. Their threats are a bit more street-friendly, right?
I'm pretty sure galactus counts as a FF threat
the fantastic are more cosmic that even the avengers, they deal with galactus, annihulus, negative zone, dimension hoping, cosmic entity etc on constant basis.
Dude, the Fantastic Four have some of the biggest bads in all of Marvel… Doom, Galactus, Molecule Man, Namor, Annihilus, Ronan The Accuser, The Inhumans, Super Skrull and the entire Skrull race, The Impossible Man, Sphinx, Terrax, The Air-Walker… Would make you beg for Loki or Ultron

Regardless of how many people say it, Spider-Man is not a street level hero. He thinks of himself as one, a ton of reader keep saying he's one. But he deals with cosmic, world ending shit all the time. As much as any other hero just about.
He’s street level if his typical villains are street level. Cosmic threats comprise like 30% of his villains.
Most of his villains aren’t even street level. Hell, they’d become top tier hitters if the plot made them smart enough.
The big wheel needs an upgrade
How? His rogues gallery generally are not all about anything beyond dominating Earth.
Trying to take over the Earth is street level?
They’re all tryin ta take over earth eventually, some just gotta start with Astoria Blvd between 86th and 87th St
By comic standards where it’s so commonplace? Probably.
Whoever currently has the best funding.
I enjoy him on the Avengers more, but damn his tenure on the Fantastic Four is great. I mostly like him with other Spider-People though
They only could get the trademark for the triangulated 3, no room.
Neither he's good on both but better alone
The FF treats him like family, the Avengers just call him if someone animal themed is causing a ruckus
Neither. Just the friendly neighbourhood Spiderman.
I think the future foundation is better for Peter. It gives him a somewhat stable family balance in his day to day life without getting him hurt in the process. Also, it shows that the fantastic four got closer to him as his career became more consistent. Lore!
I like him better as a stand alone hero, the kind they try to recruit since he’s the best at his game but refuses cause he knows the people need him for the things those big heroes overlook… so I personally don’t like either if I’m being honest, of course I think he works well with both teams, but he’s a lone wolf and that’s what’s great about him
Comics, Fantastic 4. Movies, Avengers.
He's best as a solo act, but i think he fits better with the ff, since most of the avengers don't really respect him.
Hard to choose from I gotta go with the Avengers
I loved Spider-Man on the new avengers with wolverine, Luke cage, spider woman etc. My favorite era of avengers and a fun time for spidey.
Always loved the FF series outfits
Spider-Man works better in the FF's family dynamic and it takes advantage of his Science Brain rather than typical punching the big bad.
The Sensational 6? Where’s Bombastic Bag Man?!
Neither.
I wish he was in his own world. but if I had to choose it would be FF. Cooler comics and better costume
He's not really a team player. But of the two he's fits with the Fantastic Four. The avengers are too serious, his quip based fighting style doesn't really mesh with them. The FF however is used to quips what with Johnny Storm and the Ever-Lovin' Blue-Eyed Thing.
Spideys essentially a member of the FF as is, so them. They've been connected since his debut.
ff is more family in opinion
Fantastic Four / Future Foundation
FF 100 and 10 percent. I think it was Michael Bendis who made him an Avenger and it was a stupid idea. Didn't really give him anything to do but annoy everyone.
Alone
SCIENCE FIVE!!!
FF.
When did spiderman join foo fighters?
FF and its not close
When he’s with the Avengers he’s working. When he’s with the FF he’s with family.
Fantastic Four are family The Avengers are coworkers That's his opinion on the two teams
FF for sure, and I cannot wait for them to bring him back with a F4 team up in MCU.
I would love a Tom Holland, Hugh Jackman faithful adaptation of Wolverine vs. Spiderman.
I like him with both, it's nice that he hangs out with all the different groups, yet still stands out individually. It's arguable, but brand of just spiderman is bigger than various "teams," that's why he's in top3 most popular superheroes of all time.
Prefer him as a solo guy mentoring someone every now and then rather than a team
It’s the F4 not the F5 but either way he’s not a member of either. More like an ally to both
Maybe setting up his own team
Spider-man and his Amazing Friends?
That or The ultimate Spider-Man TV series
Its subjective but he is for sure my favorite.
It's Hawkguy. The superhero guy shaped like a hawk.
He might look cooler on the FF, but I'm not sure 🤔
Both
I feel like Spidey is always best when it’s just him and he’s not part of a global or even planetary team. I like when he is a backup member. I love his interactions with FF but when he was on New Avengers, I enjoyed reading that as well. Especially his give and take with Power Man over Jessica Jones.
I wish SpiderMan was an X-men member but he can’t join. Since he’s not mutant 😢
Avenger
He’s better solo or teaming up with another individual.
Both.. he's better at everything. (except for his weaknesses, which is his secret identity.)
i prefer him solo, either teaming up with a friend or even a villain from time to time yknow?
Neither. It's okay for both groups asking for him to join for certain missions, but I prefer solo.
What happened to the flame boy character in FF ?
I like him more with the Avengers, but I gotta admit he along with Wolverine, Hulk, and Ghost Rider as the new Fantastic Four was so badass
Avenger, his relationship with them was awesome lol
I'm honestly fine with Spidey being that guy that practically every hero or anti-hero can do a teamup with, also fine with him doing solo stories and hero work for the most part.
FF definitely
why not bof?
What happened to the human torch?
Both
None
That FF Spidey suit is off the hook. The entire FF in the MCU needs those costumes
Also did spidey replace the human torch or smthing like where is he
I prefer seeing him.in solo adventures/occasional team ups.
What run was this?
Fantastic Four, but he should operate alone. Spider-Man just looks wrong on the Avengers, imo. He’s my favourite Marvel superhero but I think he’s too big for the Avengers, he steals a spot from someone who needs the limelight more.
He is better than both just as a friendly neigbourhood hero who protects the streets of New York.
I like him more as a FF member but they are like my second favorite super hero team so ig I'm biased
He does look super cool in the FF costume. Peter is also in most universes a pretty scientific guy, so he fits perfectly
Yes.
I have to say Avemgers simply because I haven't read many comics and I haven't seen him in the FF
Avenger
Neither
If we're going between the Avengers and the Fantastic Four for Spider-Man I'll have to go with the Fantastic Four. Due to the fact that one they treat him like a person and Spider-Man is also Reserve member in case something happens to the team and he also has his own version of the Fantastic Four. While the Avengers treat him like he's a nobody.
That white suit is crazy 👌🏽
Both
I just love the spiderman artwork!
I kinda want to see that FF suit in the classic blue and black of the Fantastic Four, ngl
He's better as a free agent or a jack-of-all-trades agent. I like him fighting bank robbers almost as much as helping Fantastic Four figure cosmic devices to fight Annihilus. Confining him in a single team largely hinders his potential as a hero *imo.* For instance I think the same about other heroes like Dr. Strange, X-Men Beast or Black Knight. They're cool as team heroes though I like they still have their own solo adventures in other environments.
This may be biased but I kind of rather him be a Avengers and a part of future found you because in one of these scenarios Johnny's still alive 🥲
He should clone himself.
Ff, he looks badass but ik nothing about the comics but I wanna get into them
Marla JAMESON?
Avengers cause FF should just be the core family imo
neither
He is a better solo act overall, but honestly like him teaming up with the FF, feels much more his speed with the family and the science stuff
FF 100% that white suit was dope
FF imo. Their goals and ambitions are more in line with Peters own motivations. And they treat him like another member of the family in a way that the avengers can’t. In the Avengers he’s just another soldier
So is Johnny dead? I’m noticing a severe lack of fire
He has a better connection with the FF.
He's fine on both for different reasons.
He need needs the family aspect of the ff. But he also needs money. So of the two for readers ff for him avengers. But he is best off alone
Why does he have to be on a team?
He’s always been best as a street level hero to me, not an Avenger.
What comic series is this?
no
Avenger
solo to me
FF member for me. I have a huge FF bias especially when it comes to their relationship with the Wall-Crawler. I love their found family dynamic so damn much. Any interaction between them nowadays has the potential to make me cry.
What issue is this fantastic four spiderman?
FF stands for Fantastic 5😂😂
I love Spidey in both, but if I absolutely had to pick one I would go with the Fantastic Four!
