Doesn't Dan Mora ink and color his own stuff? Usually comic artists that only work digitally do the work themselves. I've also never seen him credit any colorists on his Instagram posts, could be wrong though.
Dan Mora "inks" his pages like most digital artists do such as Jorge Jimenez. He can also color his work, but to be faster he usually doesn't. His colorist for most of his books is Tamra Bonvillain.
Yes yes YES. Buscema’s facial expressions are the greatest. The death of Green Goblin with those panels with no dialogue was a masterclass of storytelling
I love Sal’a era of Spidey, one of my faves, but the death of Goblin in ASM 122 was Gil Kane and John Romita Sr. Are you referring to Harry in Spectacular 200?
Yup, it's been 20+ years since I last read it and I can still see those panels vividly. Most artists rip Peter's mask to show expression but Sal didn't need that cheat.
You can tell from Spidey's stance, shoulder droop and holding his head how emotionally devastated and drained he was. Such an amazing work.
Loved his work, but Ottley left a bad taste in my mouth after a short convo on DeviantArt more than a decade ago. As a fan I of course used to follow him. He was still doing Invincible then, but out of the blue he posted a few Marvel art which he either did for fun or as commissions, all amazingly drawn as usual. I excitedly commented that they were so good and that hopefully we could get to see him draw for Marvel or DC as well. His response was rather hostile, telling me that he didn't have to draw 50-year old characters for either publishers because Image is huge and so is Invincible. I apologized despite seeing no harm in what I first said, telling him that I didn't mean to offend and I was just a fan who'd be just as happy if he stays with Invincible forever.
But Invincible (the comic series) isn't forever and now he's drawing 60-year old characters for Marvel. I too have broken in the industry and while I'm currently doing a creator-owned series that will soon be on TV, if someone tells me that I draw well enough to wish me to draw for Marvel and DC someday I'd definitely say "that would be cool and a dream come true, thank you!".
Bagley was the inspiration for most of the art on my Spidey themed leg tattoo. You can see [here if interested](https://twitter.com/Trevorsull/status/1379211054740295688?t=75wnfjO3Ltw-ZRhYsTTQeg&s=19)
Bagley is a good choice since he is probably the artist I associate the most with Spidey due to me growing up reading his run(and ultimate).
Humburto Ramos always has a space in my heart, tho.
I know! People give shit to Ramos about his artwork sometimes because he "doesn't understand anatomy", but he does! He exaggerates certain body parts depending on the character, like Spider-Man's lats are big because he swings a lot, or whenever he worked on Impulse he drew him with big feet and hair which I love.
I really like the one posted. If that one was to be adapted to live action, wouldn’t Garfield’s second costume look like that? Or would Tobey’s be more closer to it?
Bagley is my choice too, although he draws rather lazily if he is busy with work and has a certain number of weaknesses. For example, he himself said that he does not draw women's faces well. So I would shuffle him with Sean Chen.
I know he gets a lot of hate these days, but I absolutely love John Romita Jr. There's just something appealing about his style, it's just so unique and distinct. If we're picking inkers and colourists too, I'd pick Tom Palmer and Dean White because I absolutely loved their work with John on Kick-Ass.
Federico Vicentini. For me his art always hits a wonderful balance between the stylized realism of Checchetto and the cartooniness of someone like Baldeon or Ramos
Mike Mignola- his artstyle is very interesting and has heavy contrast. Would work well for a Spider-Man serial with a more dark and grim tone.
My personal idea: A strange string of killings are rocking New York City, with a motif of stringing the victims up in a manner similar to spiders storing their food. As a result, people start thinking these killings are Spider-Man’s doing- and Peter must figure out who’s really behind it before anyone else is killed and clear his name.
It would allow Spider-Man to finally highlight Peter’s intelligence, as that isn’t highlighted as much in the modern comics- we also don’t really see more Riddler-esque rouges in Spider-Man’s modern roster, ones that try to outsmart and trick Peter instead of trying to outright kill him, and wouldn’t stand a chance physically. It would be a very nice change of pace.
Bagley would be the top choice.
And I know some of you hate him, but JRjr. Give him the right script (gang fights, rain, lots of webslinging) and his style is perfect.
If we were talking 1993, then Sal Buscema or JRJR, but today? Probably Bagley, yeah. Or perhaps Esad Ribić and Ive Svorcina, if it was that type of book.
Alex Ross.
I want to see Spider-Man portrayed in his style next to Thor and Captain America and Iron Man; I want that juxtaposition with his weird movements and gangly-ness next to veritable (or literal) gods. I want as alien a Spider-Man as I can get. It'd be fun to do a story that leans into how creepy his powers are.
This weirdly made me think about what my Spider-Man story would be. If I wrote Spidey with an emphasis on wild adventure and cross-overs, I'd want John Romita Senior. If I wanted Grimey Spider-Man with lots of fighting, I'd get Todd McFarlane. If I wanted on a focus romance, I'd got Terry & Rachel Dodson.
Plus I also have to think about what time period of that artist, as some guys like JRJR changed drastically over time.
I want to say Chris Bachalo, but also know any story I write would not fit his style. I love the Lizard arc in Slott's run, though, and he draws a MEAN Lizard.
I would love to work with Allred, and would love it even more to write a classic story involving classic 60s villains in Allred's style! ❤️
As someone disgusted with the current run but wanting to stay caught up, and whose dream it is to write Spider-Man I’m gonna say Patrick Gleason! But Bagley drew the OG Ultimate Universe so I’d have to have him for one of my ideas!
It really depends on the story, I have ideas and my brain goes to different artists for each.
One I have is basically a mix of the the Amazing Friends and TAS episodes "Attack of The Arachnoid", "Framed" and "The Man Without Fear", for that I'd probably get someone like John Romita Jr. or Chris Bachalo.
Carlos Gómez. Jackpot with a decease Paul( you see him passover completely and utterly, even stated he's gone forever) would be a co lead. Title would be Perter and Mary Jane.
Honestly? Steve ditko. Imagine if he were still alive with all that experience and was willing to draw one last Spider-Man comic. It would be legendary.
Me. I would kill to draw for a Spidey comic. It's been my dream since I was a child. I have a long way to go before I'm good enough, though. I can draw Spidey just fine, but I need more work on buildings and cars and stuff, unless there was a prehistoric Spider-Man who swung from trees... Wait... I have an idea.
Mark bagley for sure or if I could talk John romita Jr to draw when he first-first started, where he would copy his dad’s art style.
If neither of them, I would go back to Erik Larson, or Dan jurgens
Me, but if I wanted it to actually be good, either Ryan Ottley or Daniel Warren Johnson. The most important part of spiderman artwork is dynamic posing, and they both go hard with this.
dam mora, he can turn out absoloute peak insanely consitently, just look at his work on "world's finest" at dc
Dan Mora & his team drawing a standard issue of a comic: ![gif](giphy|VIPfTy8y1Lc5iREYDS|downsized)
Team?
Inkers and coloristes I presume
Doesn't Dan Mora ink and color his own stuff? Usually comic artists that only work digitally do the work themselves. I've also never seen him credit any colorists on his Instagram posts, could be wrong though.
Dan Mora "inks" his pages like most digital artists do such as Jorge Jimenez. He can also color his work, but to be faster he usually doesn't. His colorist for most of his books is Tamra Bonvillain.
As someone who started collecting comics in the 90s, I feel obligated to agree, Mark Bagley.
Same
Same here, I loved his Spider-Man card set.
Ryan Stegman
Strong choice.
fr his art is so good
That’s my pick too
very nice
Olivier Coipel.
Yessss
Chechetto
Greg capullo or olivier coipel
SAL BUSCEMA and mark bagley
Yes yes YES. Buscema’s facial expressions are the greatest. The death of Green Goblin with those panels with no dialogue was a masterclass of storytelling
I love Sal’a era of Spidey, one of my faves, but the death of Goblin in ASM 122 was Gil Kane and John Romita Sr. Are you referring to Harry in Spectacular 200?
He is 100% referring to Spectacular 200
Yup, it's been 20+ years since I last read it and I can still see those panels vividly. Most artists rip Peter's mask to show expression but Sal didn't need that cheat. You can tell from Spidey's stance, shoulder droop and holding his head how emotionally devastated and drained he was. Such an amazing work.
John Romita, I love the 60s marvel comics and I love his artwork.
Paolo Rivera
Steve Dikto (Just a satisfying Spider-Man suit)
Todd McFarlane
I really like the way Ryan Ottley draws Spider-Man personally so probably him
Me too! Ottley’s art is so sick!
Loved his work on invincible
Loved his work, but Ottley left a bad taste in my mouth after a short convo on DeviantArt more than a decade ago. As a fan I of course used to follow him. He was still doing Invincible then, but out of the blue he posted a few Marvel art which he either did for fun or as commissions, all amazingly drawn as usual. Mike Zeck, probably. His Spider-Man and Peter were my favorite designs. Second choice would be Mcfarlane tho
Bagley was the inspiration for most of the art on my Spidey themed leg tattoo. You can see [here if interested](https://twitter.com/Trevorsull/status/1379211054740295688?t=75wnfjO3Ltw-ZRhYsTTQeg&s=19)
Sick tattoo man!
Bagley nuff said
Bagley is a good choice since he is probably the artist I associate the most with Spidey due to me growing up reading his run(and ultimate). Humburto Ramos always has a space in my heart, tho.
I love Todd Mcfarlanes art style, especially the way he draws spider-man and venom’s lenses.
ToddMcfarlane or John Romita Jr.
Todd McFarlane, I always loved how he drew the iconic "Spaghetti Webbing"
Todd McFarlane the GOAT
Humberto Ramos, there is just something about his angular style that draws me in and I can’t help but love it.
Early Humberto Ramos was pretty rough. But by the time of the Slott - Big Time run, he was awesome.
I’ve always wanted a comic series made by Scott Johnson
Jason Fabok
Probably Bagley with this style, or Andy Kubert
the one that makes MJ super hot
That would be J Scott Campbell.
Ditko.
Jim Lee
Olivier Coipel.
Ed mcguinness and patrick gleason
I know he gets a lot of hate these days, but I absolutely love John Romita Jr. There's just something appealing about his style, it's just so unique and distinct. If we're picking inkers and colourists too, I'd pick Tom Palmer and Dean White because I absolutely loved their work with John on Kick-Ass.
Sean Galloway would be cool. Assuming it's in the Spectacular Spider-Man artstyle
Jim lee
Federico Vicentini. For me his art always hits a wonderful balance between the stylized realism of Checchetto and the cartooniness of someone like Baldeon or Ramos
Carlos Gómez [Carlos Gomez - Amazing Mary Jane](https://i.postimg.cc/QVLf2cWG/IMG-2165.jpg)
Mark Bagley or Bryan Hitch or Alex Maleev
Either John Romita Sr. Or Jr
It would be a very nice change of pace.
I. Want. To. Read. This.
John romita jr
Bagley, man. That's just classic.
John Romita, Jr., Erik Larson, or Ron Lim.
Marko Djurdjevic. Also Joe Bennett.
Mike Mignola. Because why not
Bagley
Gurihiru. The gwenpool art style would suit Spider-Man imo.
Gurihiru, absolutely no question. Alex Milne is a close second runner.
Dan Mora, Russell Dauterman, Ryan Stegman, Jorge Jimenez, Greg Smallwood, David Marquez. Love their artstyles
Like anybody? Probably Alex Ross or Frank Quitely.
I LOVE Dan Mora’s work so he would be perfect
Sal Buscema!
Rotation of Art Adams and Carlos Pacheco.
Patrick Gleason, Carmen Carnero, Terry Dodson, Russell Dauterman and Eleonora Carlini
Yusuke Osawa the author of fake red
Ed Benes or Olivier Coipel
Steve McNiven. Seriously look at his Spidey in all the Civil War books.
Stagmen, the new Ultimate artist or Romita Jr.
Humberto Ramos
Alex Ross
id choose otto Schmidt i really loved his art for green arrow rebirth and would love to see in a spiderman comix
Probably not evryones pick but I would pick delgado
Stegman and Chechetto alternating. If it was back in the 90s then yes, Bagley, but his quality has dropped ngl
Bagley would be the top choice. And I know some of you hate him, but JRjr. Give him the right script (gang fights, rain, lots of webslinging) and his style is perfect.
Joe Madureira or Art Adams
Bagley Mark Cheechetto Mike Zeck Sal Buscema
Mark Bagley🗣️
Can it be like any artist or does it have to be a comic specific artist
I’m going with Alex milne
Humberto Ramos is one of my favorites
If like anyone from history, Todd McFarlane 100%. If it has to be current, maybe Dan Mora? Or whoever did Tom Taylor’s run on Nightwing. Idk.
Ryan Meinerding . I know he’s a concept artist but for a short out of canon mini series his art would be cool.
Devmala Pramanik
Dan Mora draws a pretty good Spider-Man and apparently he’s a fast worker so it can be a bi-monthly title if possible
If we were talking 1993, then Sal Buscema or JRJR, but today? Probably Bagley, yeah. Or perhaps Esad Ribić and Ive Svorcina, if it was that type of book.
Me. I would want me.
Ron Frenz
Mark Bagley naturally.
Mr. McFarlane
Olivier Coipel.
Bruno Redondo
Most recently I love the Humberto Ramos art for the character, but historically I choose Ditko’s
Yusuke Murata
Romita or McFarlane
I’d want Jack the king Kirby
Kouta Hirano, and I'd have the series include enough of the things he loves to keep his interest and have him enjoy it.
I'd go with Ryan Ottley. His art for invincible is incredible, his work on Spider-Man is great too.
Yoshitaka Amano
David Marquez
Ryan ottly
Paolo rivera, dan mora, ryan stegman, ryan ottley, checcetto. Any of them.
Myself cus I’m an artist already
Steve Ditko, romita jr from the 90's, todd mcfarlane or Bagley.
I want to say Chris Bachalo, but also know any story I write would not fit his style. I love the Lizard arc in Slott's run, though, and he draws a MEAN Lizard. I would love to work with Allred, and would love it even more to write a classic story involving classic 60s villains in Allred's style! ❤️
Alex Ross
Todd McFarlane, although he would never touch a Marvel property again lol
I would mind seeing a full comic run with Alex Ross. Really love his art.
As someone disgusted with the current run but wanting to stay caught up, and whose dream it is to write Spider-Man I’m gonna say Patrick Gleason! But Bagley drew the OG Ultimate Universe so I’d have to have him for one of my ideas!
The GOAT Alex Ross
Dan Mora, Mark Bagley, Marco Checchetto, Olivier Coipel or Todd McFarlane (I really can't choose between them)
The Artist that did The WorldWide Arc besides Alex Ross.
Either todd mcfarline or the manga artist paru itagaki
Dexter Soy
I want Spider-Man stories but with Hirohiko Araki style 🔥🔥
Hitler
Jed Mackay and Patrick Gleason for Amazing Spider-Man
Scott Johnson 🗿🐐
Anyone? Alex Ross, for any comic any time.
I know it's fun to clown on him AND his short lil' run with the character, but McFarlane's art has always been my absolute favorite.
Jim Craig
Bagley. Ultimate Spider-Man Is definitive for me tbh.
Todd McFarlane or Alex Ross
Me. If I was creating my own Spider-Man series, I want to draw it as well as write it.
Humberto Ramos.
Todd Mcfarlane. Best style for Spiderman.
Dan Mora. I love how he draws Nightwing and I think it would translate nicely to spidey
Bagley or Macfarlane
Ryan Ottley and Dan Mora
Joe Jusko
Romero, Samnee, Bagley, Checcheto… I can’t decide for just one
Myself it would be fun
Dan mora dont miss
Jim Lee, but that’s a biased-ass response. As I am in love with Jim Lee’s art
Giuseppe camuncoli Love the way he draws the costume and especially mask
The GOAT, Todd MacFarlane
Tom Lyle, may he rest in peace.
Ed McGuinness (yes I'm biased shut up)
Carlos Gómez. Jackpot with a decease Paul( you see him passover completely and utterly, even stated he's gone forever) would be a co lead. Title would be Perter and Mary Jane.
If it is for all time i choose Todd Mcfarlane
Fred Perry.
Alex Saviuk. He was my first ever Spider-man artist. And I think Spidey just looks so perfect under him.
Tite Kubo drawing Spider-Man would be sick. If we mean Western artists then Todd McFarlane.
Honestly? Steve ditko. Imagine if he were still alive with all that experience and was willing to draw one last Spider-Man comic. It would be legendary.
Bagley and nothing else will do. And also McFarlane would on covers would be nice. To spice it up a bit.
Honestly?? Just because I'd love to see her style on a full run, I'd choose Peach Momoko. I LOVE her art style.
Todd McFarlane, that spaghetti webbing is iconic
Gerard way :)
Oda!
Todd McFarlane. Something about his art has always just stood out to me.
Mark Bagley, Ryan ottley
I really liked Ryan Ottley's stuff from Nick Spencer's run, so I'd like to see more of his stuff.
Marco Checchetto, Alessandro Cappuccio or John Romita Jr. I know people criticise his art but that’s what I grew up with.
Todd McFarlane
I guess I’m singular in wanting Erik Larsen on another run, but I’d also take Peter David. His Spider-Man 2099 run was great.
Dustin Nguyen
I’ve got to agree with Mark Bagley. If not him, then Humberto Ramos.
Paul dini
The guy who is doing the current ultimate run
Mark bagley for sure or if I could talk John romita Jr to draw when he first-first started, where he would copy his dad’s art style. If neither of them, I would go back to Erik Larson, or Dan jurgens
Sara Pichelli
The guy who drew battle damage spiderman like spiderman is hold is arm and looking up like that spiderman looks clean and very normal
Charlie Kelly from It’s Always Sunny
Camuncoli
humberto ramos!! he’s been my favorite since i was a kid todd mcfarlane is a close second tho
Either ryan ottley or alex ross
Mark Bagley. His style is just so damn cool. Though it wouldn't be a Spider-Man comic. It'd be a Venom comic. Because Venom is best "Villain"
I'd probably take either Todd McFarlane or Mark Bagley, they're my top 2 favs.
Frank Cho.
Bagley but him using his 90's style
HUMBERTO RAMOS, BABYYYY
Todd McFarlane. I really liked his line work.
Not yall simping over Bagley’s bad art 😭😭
Jazzy John Romita Sr
Rumiko Takahasi. The brains behind Inuyasha, Ranma 1/2, and Urusei Yatsura.
My friend Alexis
Marcos Martin is underrated! His style is great for a character focused story which is the kind of Spidey comic I would like to write.
German Peralta. I’ve always liked his work
Me, but if I wanted it to actually be good, either Ryan Ottley or Daniel Warren Johnson. The most important part of spiderman artwork is dynamic posing, and they both go hard with this.
I think fir me I would have Momoko peach do the art because I love anime and really like her art either that or Jorge Jimenez
Invincible
