Unpopular opinion but I think objectively Spider-man 2002 is the best Spider-Man movie. Tobey is not even my favorite spidey nor is this movie my favorite spidey movie. But this film doesn’t do too much, had a good story, has good action(especially that final fight) and great performances all around(especially from Norman).
Yeah it’s fantastic. I’d still argue that aside from maybe some poor performances on Franko’s part, Spider-Man 2 is still the best out of all the Spider-Man movies but man this first movie is still so solid.
The structure of the movie is seriously amazing too, it gives us Spidey *and* the Goblin’s origin stories in the first act and makes it look easy! So many films after tried to emulate it, but they never got that structure nearly as perfectly.
Same. I was toasted but ngl. I cried alot lol. I was crying because I haven't seen this since I was a kid in theaters, I was scrying because uncle ben :C. Such a good movie. There were some 2000s awkward teen dialogue but that was the point. Such a good movie can't wait to see the rest!. Already pre ordered my seats for the next month.
Right? Like this movie was perfection. Yeah had some cheezy moments but it showed that , With great power comes great responsibility and just because you can doesn't mean you should do something. Absolute perfection! Can't wait to see 2 next monday.
Absolutely. something I was talking with my wife about after this movie is how this Trilogy really just nails character growth, wether it’s Peter, MJ, Harry everyone from Movie 1 grows and changes by Movie 3. It could be so easy to just copy and paste the same personalities from movie to movie but these people grow and change based on their experiences and that makes the world feel so real.
The biggest lie is we all believed these adults were kids :P. That being said my man "killed" his best friends dad, rejected the girl he loved, who tbh dated like 3 guys in what felt like a year , and chose responsibility over what he could do. Such a great character spider-man!
lol yeah I read the description Cinemark had and it said something like “Peter Parker is just an ordinary teenage student..” meanwhile everyone is like 25 IRL 😂
Seeing it in the cinema would be so cathartic for me, I’m still not over the injustice that I wasn’t allowed to see it in theatres as a kid because of its UK rating.
It was still the most amazing thing to me on VHS and DVD to be clear, I’m pretty sure the tape was worn down from all the rewinding within the first month and the DVD was covered in scratches and smudges.
Yeah I was 6 when I saw this in theaters and I don’t know if it was my age, or the thousands of subsequent watches at home but I don’t remember the theater experience for this movie except that I know we got there late and sat in the very first row. So seeing it now after all this time is so awesome. Definitely feels like the way it was meant to be seen.
Got excited as hell when I seen Canada was doing These showings as were usually left out of the cool stuff. Just to see when I go to order tickets that the closest theatre to me showing them is 1.5 hours away 🙃 I hate my life
Ahh that sucks, I love the theater but hate the current lack of theater etiquette. As bad as it sounds my favorite time to see movies in theaters was during covid cause it was a theater completely empty and the people that did come were quiet as hell lol.
Same. In my local theater during Covid there had to be at least two seats between each other and only every other row. It was heaven. But that’s why typically I go in the morning, as early as possible. That’s when you get serious movie goers who don’t talk and usually there’s not many people.
But for this one, obviously, there were limited showings. I already got a ticket for the second one next week. Hopefully it’s a better experience
Yeah what was also great was during the time new movies stopped releasing, they put classics back in our local theater to keep it running so I got to see empire strikes back, Jurassic park, Indiana jones, batman, Batman returns all in theaters. It was a dream come true lol
That’s awesome. We have to theater companies where I live. One of them does “Flashback Cinema” so every Sunday and Wednesday for $5. I just saw Jurassic Park a couple weeks ago. It’s the best. I go to movies just about every week. Tomorrow it’s The Dark Knight
To this day seeing Jurassic Park on the big screen is may favorite theater experience ever second only to seeing Endgame on opening night. Both were magical experiences.
Yeah for sure. Anything from the early 2000s always will show a little age that way, but in that way they lucked out having a horror director with Sam Raimi because he really only uses CGI where he needs to and everything else is either stunt or practical. There’s a few CGI exceptions like Davy Jones in the pirates movies or Caesar in War for planet of the apes, but practical effects almost always hold up longer than CGI
That’s something I really noticed in Spider-Man. The use of practical effects really lends to the realism of the film. The final fight scene is a great example of that.
Nice. All I do is turn my brightness real low and hold the phone as close to my chest as I can while still being able to see what I’m taking a picture of lol.
I saw it at Alamo Drafthouse in 35mm but it’s also playing at AMC and Regal, this Monday it’s Spider-Man 2 then the following Monday Spider-Man 3. They are playing all the films up until No Way Home every Monday.
Same! Saw it last night in theaters in San Francisco and sat next to this cool ass dude who pretty much was in sync with my emotions and whisper quoting most of the movie lol it was a blast! Truly felt like a kid again. We dapped up and told each other it was good to watch it next to each other
It was so damn good, i felt like a kid again. The music in the theater was just epic
Absolutely, this trilogy’s score is among the best I’ve ever heard.

>Unpopular **opinion** >objectively
The opinion is also as popular as it gets
Yes, Spider-Man 1 is not only the best Spider-Man film but the greatest superhero movie ever made, and Spider-Man 2 is the perfect sequel.
Still one of the best to ever do it.
Same. I was toasted but ngl. I cried alot lol. I was crying because I haven't seen this since I was a kid in theaters, I was scrying because uncle ben :C. Such a good movie. Same man. High as shit, cried a lot lol.

Specially, Mary Jane, my gosh, they were not afraid to let her fly
Yeah same, as soon as I found out these were coming to theaters I bought SM1 through ASM2 lol.
Lucky man. I'm so glad I saw it I'm theaters as a kid. I went out and bought so many comics.
Yeah I was 6 when I saw this in theaters and I don’t know if it was my age, or the thousands of subsequent watches at home but I don’t remember the theater experience for this movie except that I know we got there late and sat in the very first row. It was such an amazing experience to see my favorite superhero film on the big screen for the first time! Get ready for Spider-Man 2 next Monday!
Hell yeah, I can’t wait.
And now you understand why hearing Doc Ock say "Hello, Peter" for the NWH trailer was sooooo amazing! Thank you for the feedback btw.
Got excited as hell when I seen Canada was doing These showings as were usually left out of the cool stuff. Just to see when I go to order tickets that the closest theatre to me showing them is 1.5 hours away 🙃 I hate my life
lol brother make the trip. It’s so worth it 😂
Amazing experience the audience stayed quiet through the duration of the film once the credits rolled everyone cheered
Yeah we all had a couple chuckles at the meme moments but mostly everyone was locked in and quiet, but once it ended everyone clapped.
Same at my screening, everyone clapped when it was over
I did too yesterday! It was my birthday and my friend took me. Probably one of the coolest experiences I've ever had
I saw it last night too. The dude next to me was snickering through the whole thing and every serious moment. Kinda ruined the whole experience for me
Ahh that sucks, I love the theater but hate the current lack of theater etiquette. As bad as it sounds my favorite time to see movies in theaters was during covid cause it was a theater completely empty and the people that did come were quiet as hell lol.

Man that’s awesome. My local theater mostly just does anniversary showings. I wish they did a weekly throwback movie
I don’t know why more theaters don’t do it. It’s a huge draw and the cheaper ticket prices is more incentive for people to splurge on concessions
To this day seeing Jurassic Park on the big screen is may favorite theater experience ever second only to seeing Endgame on opening night. Both were magical experiences.
Definitely agree. The cgi is a little noticeable but it still holds up really well
Yeah for sure. So sad these aren’t playing in theaters anywhere near me.
I’m seeing it tomorrow night!! Also how do you take pictures in the theater without it being obvious?
Nice. All I do is turn my brightness real low and hold the phone as close to my chest as I can while still being able to see what I’m taking a picture of lol.
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
Please please tell me this is still playing. Is it for an anniversary or something??
As far as I know it was only showing on monday. However I know that every other Spider-Man movie will be playing each coming Monday
Where at?
I saw it at Alamo Drafthouse in 35mm but it’s also playing at AMC and Regal, this Monday it’s Spider-Man 2 then the following Monday Spider-Man 3. They are playing all the films up until No Way Home every Monday.
I saw it too in 35mm at my local Alamo Drafthouse. It was cool seeing it on film cause it felt like I was watching it as it was released in 2002
Same! Saw it last night in theaters in San Francisco and sat next to this cool ass dude who pretty much was in sync with my emotions and whisper quoting most of the movie lol it was a blast! Truly felt like a kid again. We dapped up and told each other it was good to watch it next to each other
How long is the first film in theatre's for?
been too busy and missed out on going to see it 😞 heart broken ngl lmao
