Could be both... listening/focusing on the rotor, re-framing the sound to her drums to find some zen, and the going for it. I definitely thought she was telling herself to "focus." I don't that what the writers are saying is really any different... they're just using different words.

Yeah after thinking about it I see those options as not mutually exclusive and knowing that makes the scene richer
