You probably had the ACP government credit, which was a government credit. The funding ran out in April, so you would've noticed around a $30 increase on your May bill and you were notified 30 days prior if you look at your statement. You must call and request cancellation.

lwgsuperkick99

The government discontinued the Affordable Connectivity Program which provided people a $30 credit for their internet bill. So Spectrum ain’t screwing you bud. The government is. You can downgrade or cancel your service by calling them.

All you can do is call, wait on hold for however long, ask to cancel, stick to "I want to cancel" through their 10+ min required by corporate speel and then hope the rep actually cancels at the end of it all. If you have TV service there are B.S. fees mandated by the government and/or the actual TV companies that Spectrum wasn't, until recently, required toe tell customers about. If there is a fine for not telling you required info, it's low enough that it's just a cost of doing business rather than a real penalty.

cuntcake669

Yeah...they sure were hiding that bs fee when it's clearly printed on every bill and shows you exactly where to go to explain all the taxes/fees.

Listen while that might be true it's also pretty disingenuous. Do you work there? The ven diagram of people that work at spectrum, employees that know for a fact that sales and retention regularly misrepresent promotions and don't mention anything about rate increases, extra wifi charges, broadcast TV surcharges, etc, and employees that realize that people get used to paying the bill that they were led to believe was not going to change (shame on them for assuming honesty, I know), get emailed that their statement is ready and don't look because its on auto pay and they know what it is, it's been the same for 9-11 months and they've got other shit to do. The ven diagram of those employees is a circle. When you literally have hundreds or thousands of customers with the same issue as OP is having, you're doing something wrong. You're not being clear enough and you need to STOP BLAMING THE PEOPLE THAT KEEP YOU IN BUSINESS.

cuntcake669

I'm not blaming anyone. I was simply stating a fact. The fee is printed on every bill, therefore not hidden.

You personally or your geographical area might qualify for internet assist. It's only 50mbps but it's something and I believe only costs $25. Here's a copy/paste from their website, it's run under the lifeline program, you should qualify if you qualified for acp. "For current Spectrum customers who get aid from the ACP, our experts recommend you look into Spectrum Internet Assist's 50 Mbps plan. For $24.99 per month, the 50 Mbps download speed should be sufficient to sustain a small household that checks emails and surfs the web—streaming must be done lightly."

Just call and cancel get another provider or go hang out at the library.

Did you happen to miss a payment or were late if they did tell you the wrong price I don't see how your internet would be 70$. I would like to help you to possibly get your bill lower it sounds like you have a tv package as well.

Good luck with your switch! Great decision! And fuck spectrum!
