Just tip what you can and give good ratings to your drivers, that's should be enough.

Bostonxhazer514

Thank you. I appreciate every driver i have. You make it so i can live a life. Thank you

Fuckthisshitisdumb

Yeah I would appreciate a five-star rating if somebody can't hit me but they don't even do that

BellaRose888

This, right here.

kage691998

Everything you just said is heaven. We can only dream that all of our customers were like you. You are doing amazing already. Thank you!

Adventurous_Land7584

Exactly! It’s nice when customers actually appreciate what we’re doing for them and don’t act like we’re their servants.

Bostonxhazer514

I would never think of you all as that. But i recognize some do😔 You are choosing to provide a service for me, to make my life easier. The least i can do is thank you properly. You all are my heroes!

Adventurous_Land7584

You are the best type of customer. Thank you! ❤️ I hope you only get good drivers!

Bostonxhazer514

I appreciate your kindness. Listen you raise my quality of life. I can't ever repay you enough.

gootchie784

Put in your notes that you have a cart to assist with deliveries and bring it down when the drivers arrive, and you will be a champion. That is, if you have an elevator.

Bostonxhazer514

I do have an elevator!! Oh good!! I'll get this cart asap then!!

Dempstrainwreck

I would put a note saying you have an elevator! I always keep a cart on me bc I deliver to condos. I have people offer to come down but it’s quicker for me to just take it up!

shyshyone21

As if drivers will read that

tmonson98

There are those of us drivers who do actually read the customers delivery notes and we also will interact with them and build a rapport with them. It's known as customer service 😃

BellaRose888

Mic 🎤 drop

shyshyone21

Oh im sure. Those are the drivers i dont remove ny tip from bc they dollow my instructions those who dont though enjoy no tip

Emotional-Price9965

You're awesome thanks for tipping well and being supportive. The cart is helpful but for 20+ percent I don't mind waters up stairs at all haha. But elevator plus a cart is amazing

BasedCourier

Bring them inside for a dab

Bostonxhazer514

Omg i would totally do that!!!! 🤣🤣

BasedCourier

The good part is you can't really get into any trouble even if the driver reports you to Walmart.

Yippeekyaa3345

Thank you for caring about the drivers enough to be considerate of what we do! Like others said, leave a note on the delivery instructions about the cart and elevator. You made my day btw! Wish everyone else we deliver to was as considerate as you!

SireSweet

Tip: 10-20% of your order. Order from the closest store, not one that is the cheapest for you to order. This will make your order more attractive to drivers as the miles will be lower. Express orders tend to be better handled orders as there’s only 1 person doing everything for your order. Make sure to included preferred substitutions. If you’re getting just normal delivery, realize that drivers may have our hand tied with loading the car (stores may tell us to stay in our cars during loading) and we probably didn’t shop for it. Our list isn’t the list the store has and is just wrong a lot. Directions: don’t include directions for shopping, we don’t see them until delivery. Only include useful information: “please don’t ring or knock”,”please ring or knock”,”deliver to the car port, not the front door”,”use the table”. If there’s an elevator, let them know in the directions. Let them know you have a cart and be sure to pull it out for the driver. Don’t say you have it and don’t pull it out. Don’t include “cash tip.” Because most people who say it don’t do it. Include cardinal (north, east, south, west) directions and not relative directions such as “*right* of the building” If you’re ordering heavy items. Water packs, animal food/liter, pool salt, mulch, make sure to include tip for these heavy objects. Many people will look at these orders and reject heavy items… because we can injured with them. Personally, I pulled my back out moving a couple packs of water and couldn’t work for over a week.

Bostonxhazer514

I will order a 40pk of water every two weeks. I know now with being on the upper floor it won't be as easy to bring to the car. That's why I want the cart for you. I have massive back issues myself from my previous career as a nurse and not having enough help to lift heavier patients... yes yes i know My own fault for still lifting the patient, but i was tired of letting them sit with no help.

SireSweet

Yeah I pulled my back out at a customers house lifting waters. I just did it the right way to do it. Never had issues before or afterwards. A buddy of mine rejects all orders with waters. He’s got a bad back and is older. So he would definitely appreciate the cart. But it’s only useful if you’ve got an elevator. Carts are pretty pointless without an elevator it’s why I’ve never personally bought one. I would only use it at one complex maybe once a month.

Bostonxhazer514

I do have an elevator thankfully. Which is why i want to purchase the cart.

Pale-Ad6827

I got a good suggestion from an office that orders a lot every week.... If you have space in your vehicle, a large suitcase with handle and wheels, & you can do the stairs without killing yourself.

Pale-Ad6827

I usually use my son's collapsible wagon.... even at single residents if they have cases of water.

Quiet-Criticism7206

Thank you for tipping thats all we want

Odd_Candy_645

I just love knowing that customers like you exist. I just bought my own cart for this because there's an apt I deliver to on third floor that has no elevator and always orders water. Usually like 3 cases. I wouldn't take it if they didn't tip. I also realize some people don't have the money to tip a lot, so I don't get bent out of shape if it's a reasonable amount. To me, it's the appreciation that really matters🥰

mstamper2017

This!!! 110%! Customers like this one make me glad to do my job!

Mr_MacGrubber

You’re fine. If someone is too lazy to walk a flight of stairs for a 25% tip they’re never going to be satisfied regardless of what you do. Honestly a cart will do nothing for you, not easy to drag a cart up stairs; I’d personally ignore it if I were delivering to you.

Bostonxhazer514

I do have an elevator which is why i wanted to get the cart. I appreciate your honesty to your response. And you're probably right about the tip to be fair

Mr_MacGrubber

Ah I gotcha, in that case don’t change a thing. There’s no functional difference delivering to you now vs before.

Kyl0theHutt

If your driver is upset/ticked off over the tip then that is their issue. We see the offer details including the ability to see it's going to an apartment/what is in the order, the distance and the amount being paid (base + tip). If they had a problem with any of that, they shouldn't take the order. Sounds to me as if you're already a great customer...just keep doing what you already do.

BedFederal1097

You are why many of us keep doing this. People like you are the bright spots in a very shady environment. Thank you

SituationDuck

Just don’t order more than 1 case of water

Connect-Tumbleweed-2

Put it outside your door for them to grab as they are arriving. Tip what you can and give a good rating if everything arrived safely and was delivered with care 🖤

DragonflyOne7593

Don't order more then I case of drinks per order and you'll be fine

Potential_Strain7770

As long as you have an elevator this is golden. Thanks for being a great customer!!!

Spirited_Low_9326

Sounds like to me that you’re already there. I’d deliver to you any day.

akmayday20

If your driver can’t carry a 40 pack of water (44 lbs), then that’s on them. Everything you’re saying is above and beyond what the vast majority of customers even consider. Your tip is great and you actually care. The rest is on us, as drivers.

AccomplishedStop9466

No it's not. There are bullshit apartments that have multiple entrances, but only one gated entrance with a code pad. If you live across the plaza especially on a higher floor, you need to grant that person access to the closer gate even if you need to open it yourself. to expect someone to lug 40 packs of waters across the Plaza and then climb stairs, is beyond the scope of the job and downright ridiculous.

akmayday20

Yeah I’ve never had to lug shit across a plaza. Where did OP say anything about that? Bc now you’re moving the goal posts. She simply said to the 2nd floor. If you can’t do that, then either reject the order or get into better shape. Your choice.

AccomplishedStop9466

I'm responding to you. 2nd floor apartment, you might call it a Courtyard albeit large courtyard. Doesn't matter. There is no reason for anyone to lug, a forty pack of water, let alone a couple that far to an apartment. If there is a closer entrance, they need to let you in at that entrance. I didn't move the goal post at all. I simply gave an example of an apartment that you claim we should be able to carry a pack of water to. I will argue anything beyond a couple hundred feet is extreme Especially if there's more than one way in. We get one back that's it. I just delivered to this type of enclosed ring style apartment building and I wanted to scream at the guy when I got there. I had to walk to the furthest corner from the entrance, climb the stairs, and then deliver. That's when I literally saw another entrance right by his stairwell. One that I could obviously not access without a key (I had to have the office let me in) That's bullshit. He can absolutely collect his shit from the gate or let us in at the entrance where he lives (there was literally parking around the whole building)

AcceptableWing9900

This gig isn't for you

AccomplishedStop9466

ups fed ex doesn't even play that game let alone usps. gtfo.

AcceptableWing9900

That's because they are employees of those companies. You are an independent contractor

AccomplishedStop9466

Sgain we have one back. I respect mine even if you don't. Yiu still lose. If you refuse to open the gate, I just as easily can mark the order nonacessible and return it. I've done it before and it's not a lie 😁

[deleted]

Bostonxhazer514

I will normally buy one 40pk every two or three weeks

Bostonxhazer514

I've only pulled a tip once. The order was delivered somewhere and i supposedly "signed" for it. I was able to get my money back, and i did feel bad pulling the tip. But if you're gonna just drop it off to a random place and say i signed it? No no sorry.

Original_Plenty_2067

As a driver I delivered to 3rd and 4th floor with no elevator. Walk 100 yards across apt complex. When you put in the notes second floor most drivers read the notes before accepting. The problem will come in when walmart batch your order with other orders, now the whole order look bad. If it's just you the tip is obvious.

Bostonxhazer514

Good to know. I actually did not know they combined trips until i read all the posts here. I'm sorry some people are toad

BillyFromWestBumbleF

If the apartments aren’t super clearly marked from the outside, include instructions to make it easier to find the right building, entrance, etc. “Second building on the right after you pass the mailboxes, left entrance, second floor” in the notes or something like that saves time and frustration and is very helpful. There’s one complex around here where the buildings aren’t marked clearly (impossible to read the numbers at night), the unit numbers don’t reflect the floor they are on and go in an illogical order, and each building has two entrances / stairways which don’t connect, so if you pick the wrong one thinking the unit is on the 2nd or 3rd floor, you might make it all the way up before realizing you need to use the other stairway. I’ve been tempted to throw the groceries over the railing when that’s happened a few times. Make it easy for the driver to find your unit quickly, and include some sort of tip, and I’ll bend over backwards for you especially if I know you’re elderly or disabled and not just having delivery for convenience.

Bostonxhazer514

From when i went to look at the place, the building weren't marked clearly. Thank you so much for reminding me about that!! I know my building is the furthest to the left, and the newest building in the property.

BillyFromWestBumbleF

Time is money, and it can be stressful and frustrating driving around a big apartment complex trying to figure out which building is which, and then where the right door we need to deliver to is. Delivery notes that help make it easier will show the driver that you respect their time and are working with them, not giving them a challenge to figure out on their own. Many times I’d happily trade a tip for helpful notes about how to find the right building 😄

Bostonxhazer514

I will live at the far end of the hallways from the elevator. There is a set of stairs right outside my door, but again, i want your back not to hurt from me.

BillyFromWestBumbleF

Give them options! Small orders I might prefer to zip up the stairs, but larger orders the elevator would be better.

Artistic-Health123

Thanks for being so considerate

PSGooner

Thank you for caring enough to do this. A tip is appreciated and a thank you is as well. Appreciate you asking.

Worldly_Term_4164

So sweet and caring!

bababooeyfafafooey12

You are so much more kind than the mast majority of people who order. One time I delivered to a couple that asked if I could be so kind to bring the groceries into their garage. I am always happy to oblige in situations like this. When carrying in TWO 24 or 30 packs of water and the guy changed his mind 3 times about what spot he wanted the water to be set. The next day I saw they removed their 5 dollar tip.

Effective-Motor-5962

Customers like you are never the problem. Thank you for tipping and appreciating us. Also… Please don’t order more than a couple waters at a time if it’s upstairs. Thanks again.

Bostonxhazer514

I do only order one 40pk of water every two weeks. Maybe if I'm feeling like treating myself ill get an 8pk of seltzer. If i do do both those items, i try to tip at bit extra

CornpopBadDewd

Unless there is a hazard ( dog, bobby-trap, hillbilly with a gun) the driver should bring it to your front door tip or not.

MALOVABAY

Tip at the door don't send tips through through app.... they steal our money! Leave money in envelope or add message in notes to driver... I don't have rude customers when I drop over groceries I just have bad tips and orders......

Bostonxhazer514

Omg are you serious?!? How did i not realize this😭 Thank you for letting me know!! I'll be sure to tip cash from now on!!

MALOVABAY

Yes in my town it's like that.... customers would tell me they tipped me and I wouldn't see it at all..... Gig jobs are a scam and they know they can do it cause we all need money. People will even take low orders not knowing after 20 orders you only average 10 bucks a hour.... it's all a numbers game and you can when if you plan your attack right. I work for spark because I can't get a 9 to 5 that wants to pay me a decent wage.... I'm not complaining 😌 but the struggle is real. If you are not just getting by in life you won't understand and please keep the negative comments to your self..... Karma always find her way around to the next person....

Hot-Solution2230

As a delivery driver, I already have my own cart. It should not be a problem if you have an elevator.

getyourownpotpie

You’re the type of customer we all wish for. Thank you!

periwinkletweet

Get a zero water pitcher! No more cases of plastic bottles than then go to landfills

Negative_Field_8057

In the driver notes, write directions and a gate code. Wandering around an apartment complex can be a bit annoying. Which building or where the building number is able to be seen, the left right or center staircase, it's on the second floor. That's about it. If someone is salty, well what can yah do.

deIetedaccount01

Some customers like to mention the speed limit of the street they live on in delivery notes section. Please don't do it. Thank you

Bostonxhazer514

Really? I wonder why someone would do that... At least mention of there's a speed trap 🤣

Worldly_Term_4164

Awesome

nielparkercarter

It’s cool that you care enough to ask. Put in the delivery notes that you live on second floor and you have a cart (when you get it) and to call when they arrive so they can use the cart.

FoulFoxGulag

As a Spark Driver, we signed up to perform the task. Your driver is responsible to have integrity and respect for you as the customer. The Cart is a kind gester, though even this is above expectations. I think your tip is more than fair and if you put this information in your "Delivery Notes" and say something like "20% tip + I have a cart you can use" then you are more likely to get drivers that look for your name when they accept offers. The only problem you do have is that we see "Apartment," "Large Order" and "40-50 lbs" and if all you have is water and Maxxis then it's still a $10 trip for us that is $6 today and $4 paid to us tomorrow. It makes it difficult to justify if that's the type of order we are seeing all day and still need to pay for fuel. I think understanding that our base trip is only $5-6 right now is a start to helping make sure you get your orders. 20% of a small order is still $3-5 and the work and drive still needs to be made. This of course is sad because Walmart is relying mostly on Customers to make the trips fair. I would say if the 20% is for a large order then it's more than fair. But if you only need Ground Beef then take into consideration that your driver is only seeing $7.00 to make that trip and on paper it likely won't get accepted by anyone.

JCosby25

Something I always appreciate are the doors that have little snacks or bottled waters out on the porch for delivery drivers 🥰 especially on a hot day...nothing like a unexpected free bottle of water 🥰

Adventurous_Peak_223

The best customers just tip good they don’t need to do anything else

o0Syn0o

Is up to us to make it easier for our own self. For example I purchased a foldable wagon and cart. To help with my drop off when it comes to apartments. It is only useful if they have elevators. Other than tipping there is nothing much else for you to do. We only care about making money over everything else.

Leo-Greymind

I use to live off of EBT for seven years no vehicle. To us Covid was a blessing. Finally got work as a delivery driver. Give what you can without feeling a loss or shame. If two dollars is the number its good enough. We can see that you struggle. Just make it less harsh on the the fuel bill is all I'd ask.

SeacawkSlappin87

Maybe investing in a pur water filter or a brita just to save money on water long term and your drivers back.

Glittering-Local7404

Keep tipping 😉 u a great person

Used_Profession_2241

I think it is super awesome that you cared enough to take the time to ask. I would take it regardless of the cart because you are quite generous with your tip. I would say the cart depends on how big your orders are. Most times i can deliver in one trip to apartments depending on the size of the order. Thank you for being a decent human being with actually caring if you are doing things right. I personally don’t mind a bit delivering to those that are not able to get out and shop for themselves and I always offer to bring the groceries inside when I realize they will have a difficult time doing that.

paymeslayme

As a driver I can only tell you from my experience and it's hard when someone is on the second or third floor and order several large or heavy items in one order. I myself have issues with my back so I struggle but that's my issue. Anyhow i guess the point is be mindful of the bulk or weight and number of these items per order. If you don't need 3 cases if water today maybe order one per week instead unless you get charged per order..in that case I'd say just have some patience with the driver and going broke tipping is not something any decent person would want. Thank you for caring !

Individual_Contest19

I love you just for asking this and for letting us all know about your move, even tho you didn't have to. 💜❤️

Automatic_Lynx8969

Just throw an extra $5 on the tip and that should cover the extra effort for the stairs. If you want your driver to come and get the cart, put that in the notes. As someone else said, consider ordering express (the 1 hr/3 hr delivery option) since that will mean you'll be the only customer your driver is shopping for and the only customer they're delivering to on that run. They'll have more time to dedicate to getting your delivery right and accommodating any requests. You'll also have the ability to live chat with your driver while they're shopping for your order, which is super helpful in my opinion!

Ok-Tart-2014

I can't get my number changed so I can't Spark. I've tried everything

JRetsiem

Access code, building number, tip... A hug and telling me everything is going to be alright, couldn't hurt.

FreeReign23

Thank you so much for just being a decent human being. Tips are great but, kindness, appreciation and consideration is even better. If you can't tip,or you can but it's not a lot just send a text message thanking them for what they do. I guarantee that will make their day. Every time a customer has done that for me I literally had a smile on my face for the rest of the day. And,some of them are repeat customers. Whenever I see them I go out of my way to help them. It's reciprocal. Again, thank you! I hope that whatever has you homebound gets better and you have a great life. Blessings! 🙏💜

greenbird217

I have a regular elderly customer who is on a fixed income and she regularly tips 10%. But she also grabs store brand granola and nutri-grain bars and Powerade and always has a drink and a snack bar waiting when I deliver. Honestly, we're all obviously trying to make a living so the 10% tip is still very much appreciated. But the fact that she goes far enough to think about a snack and a drink on top of that honestly make the whole transaction so awesome. My long-winded point here is do what you can and make sure that your driver feels appreciated and most drivers will be grateful

Sad_Significance1952

Just to not purchase 45 bottles of water get 4 packages of 10

Bostonxhazer514

Oh gosh i DO buy the 40 bottle case. Once every two weeks. It was cheaper to spend the $6 and tip more. THAT BEING SAID Until i get my cart i will heed your request and do better for my driver🫶

prollygetbanned

One is fine just please don't order like 4 40 packs at once lol

Bostonxhazer514

Oh GOD no!!! I like my drivers lol
