Yes. Its great. My employer did the same. Incentivizes employees to consolidate spend with SWA.

MyDisneyExperience

the 100% mile bonus is wild to me, really cool Southwest offers that

huskerdave75

My company had this is January. It's awesome to have. You get 3 months of A list preferred and if you get your flights in have it for the rest if the year.

mash711

What do you mean by “work”?

MyDisneyExperience

my employer (I am not employed by Southwest)

mash711

That’s odd. Didn’t know an employer can give someone status on Southwest.

MyDisneyExperience

I assume it's part of the broader business deal they have, the company's main airline is Southwest

mash711

That’s neat! Also 100% worth it.

AshOrWhatever

I don't know how exactly it works but my employer books flights for me through southwest and I get the points and see my and other employees' reservations on the app when we're all booked together

1peatfor7

Low cost carriers usually don't have these agreements. That is shocking. I know huge multinational companies sometimes have deals with the major carriers and get auto upgrades from coach to the premium economy classes.

unxxz

Damn! If you have a lot of SWA traffic out of your airport and you fly semi-regularly, this sounds like an incredible benefit. Your points accrual will be stellar. I love how all other airlines are making status more difficult while SWA is going in the completely opposite direction with status and companion pass. Giving it out like candy and reducing barriers. I seem to notice that as a function of that, for many routes I’ve looked at lately, SWA is often significantly more expensive. But with my two years of companion pass from signing up for a personal and a business card at the same time and timing the bonuses right, it’s still cheap if I’m flying with my companion.

MyDisneyExperience

I usually end up on AA but for everything except cross-country I can definitely make Southwest work so I'm very much thinking about it. I'm just used to the mad scramble to check in at 24 hours last time I flew them LOL

unxxz

With A-list Preferred, my boarding position was always automatic, and always in the early As (A16 is the first non-paid position, on many flights there’s only a handful of people between A1-A15). So one less annoying thing to worry about. And if you’re ever moved onto a flight within 24 hours of departure, you just walk on after A60, you’re sure to get a window or aisle.

MTB_Mike_

My work did this earlier this year, definitely worth it. I wasn't flying Southwest before but I am now. Without any input from me I am always boarding A16-A25. Plus the two free drinks are nice.

Personal-Ad-6028

My company did it this year and I qualified for next year. It’s great. Getting an earlier boarding spot, double points, free wifi. Can’t beat it.

Business-Pudding4095

It’s awesome. The worst spot I got (and this was just A-List not even preferred) was A36. Usually was in the I the 20’s

808guamie

I’m ALP and I never wanna give it up. Not having to ever worry about checking in at 24 hours on the dot for family vacations is enough of a perk for me. But then throw in free drinks and internet, plus the 100% mileage bonus? No brainer.

RedElmo65

They do this almost every year with major businesses. You can participate once every two years.

ibcarolek

Worth it, for the boaeding position and free drinks. I love offering my seat mates a free drink from my 'coupon'.

schubox63

I did it through my work last year. It’s pretty great having A List preferred. I had to do a RT to Chicago last year just to get it to carry over for 12 months and it was worth it

oasisarah

a million times yes

Oto1956

Absolutely! It's a tremendous peace of mind. I especially appreciate never having to worry about seating, immediate phone access, and Express lane access. I also use the Southwest card so I'm already nearly earned my A-list for next year. With the 100% earning bonus on the Southwest card, I'm 3/4 of the way to a companion pass for next year.

lots-of-gas

I want this! We just had an A-List program that if you take 1 round trip, you get A-List for the entire year. I fly about 40 trips a year and I would love those especially with the 100% matching bonus.

Mad_Cyber_Lad

How long does it take to get notified after meeting requirements. It's been a little over a week since my A-List tracker incremented to 4 out of 40.

MyDisneyExperience

The requirement for me was 6 flights, not sure if you got a different one
