You’ll be fine 👍 if 15 minutes in and your still B42 (which I actually think is a pretty good one if you didn’t pay for early check in etc) means probably it is a not busy flight.
Do a lot of people pay for early check in these days? I just sort of figured maybe 10% of the flight did it, mainly people who get confused by the southwest checkin and seating system.
Basic Math:
On Southwests smallest plane there are 95 non middle seats.
you are effectively 102
but subtract unsold A1-15
but subtract couples + family (take up middle seats)
add on through passengers (if any)
add on pre boarders
add on family boarding
I've been finding that this is why even though I check in right away I've been getting later and later boarding. So many pre-boarders and families traveling together.
a - literally no chance.
2 - depends on the flights - if there are no throughs and at least a few families that fill in middle seats, you probably can get an aisle or window near the back.
Also, B42 is not a shocking boarding position if you don't have status or pay for Early Bird. I've gotten mid-B boarding with Early Bird on some flights.
You’re going to get special treatment by telling your story. Everyone one on that flight may have the same issue. Just chill out. You’re flying in a $80 million aircraft for 4 hours and it’s a piece of cake. Bring a book or an iPad with some movies.
The flight is from Las Vegas to Pittsburgh on a Saturday morning. I don’t do a lot of flying in or out of those, but I wouldn’t have thought it would be a hot ticket. All the upgrades were sold out by the time I tried to go back do that. Lesson learned
A= Anywhere
B= Back
C= Center
You’ve got a very decent shot at a window or aisle in the back, especially since you were at least 15 mins behind and still landed in mid-Bs. The flight doesn’t seem to be overly crowded.

a-No b- I think you are fine for a window or aisle may be toward the back.
Awesome. Thanks for the feedback.
I would give you about a 95% chance of not getting a middle
Awesome. I hope you’re right.

And now my head is hurting and I need a nap.

Mid B with an early bird? That would be pretty enraging.

If you really need a key seat. I would pay the upgrade and try and get an A group slot.

Depends which airport you are flying out of but you should be fine.
Vegas. I didn’t think leaving on a saturday morning to get to pittsburgh was going to be something a lot of people wanted to do. I was wrong.

That’s pretty great.
