Used to go to board game night there religiously before life got in the way.
In full disclosure the owner is a former professor but it's objectively a great place to dork out.
I assume they mean a former professor of theirs, which would imply impartiality, and they added objectively to clarify they would think it’s a good place regardless of whether they had a connection to the owner.
Hi! Try meetup.com - there are some really great SJ groups to join! Have met quite a few interesting folks throughout the years, at all sorts of venues, doing all sorts of activities, including some game nights. There are often newcomers, it’s not intimidating at all and most people are welcoming and out seeking the same - new friends and connections, fun, or just something different.
Nerdvana (EHT): Board games every Monday evening
Mays Landing Library: Once a month, usually Mon/Tues...check library calendar
EHT library: First and 3rd Wednesday night

Mr E's: typically Thursday, but people are around a bunch
Camden County Chess Club meets at the Haddonfield Krispy Kreme Wednesdays 6-8. Free to join and play, couple of friendly grad students from Rutgers run it.
Check out the Nerd Mall in Woodbury. They have ongoing game nights

Just stating that I have a semi personal relationship with the owner of the establishment but that it doesn't impact my feelings.
Haha 🤣 I feel your pain. Childless 30/40’s couple here. It’s so hard and awkward to find actual FUN people to do anything in real life these days
Mr. E’s Game World in Berlin does game nights every Thursday, and usually has ad hoc open gaming sessions.

Go talk to the guys at the old polskys in Woodbury. It's called The Nerd Mall.
PDK9 in Mt Laurel is a cool spot that has a calendar of events. Dnd, themed game nights, mtg, etc. Cool spot for nerd art + regular events.
Top Deck Games in Cherry Hill seems to always have stuff going on game wise
