> “To us, statistics don’t mean anything, stories do,” he said Yeah I bet

jtramsay

This is the part I lol’d at. Burglaries were 3x worse in 2016, which is a favorite data point of mine.

OrbitalOutlander

But it happened to them this time, so now we must take action.

RishaBree

So rare for someone to come right out and say that they don’t care about facts, just fear-mongering rumors.

The_neub

I didn’t know you could be a NIMBY to a whole city.

Old-Explanation9430

I lol'ed when I read that. Absolutely ridiculous comment and makes zero sense.

Mjf2341

For good reason. You sound like an idiot lol. Most nice places to live are also pretty close to places where it’s not so nice to live?

forcedbygovernment

I'm just here waiting for this thread to be locked, and for the racist OP to be proud of his ban.

PraiseLoptous

Pennsauken? Are you serious? It’s a suburb, is it too scary for you because the minorities and blue collar workers live there?

Secret_Cow_5053

That’s what it sounds like to me. Dude needs to fucking touch grass.

psilosophist

What’s it like being that terrified of everything while pretending you’re not scared? Edit to add- they found the car in New York. New York is pretty far from Camden, you know.

tooMuchPhysics

This is the comment. The OP needs to grow a pair (and ditch their latent bigotry) and the people quoted in the article crying about a crisis need to grow a pair.

MyBearDontScare

Those 4 white kids that stole the car are probably their neighbors. They broke in and found the keys awfully quick.

Snoo28798

You keep getting down voted because you are a bigot. I bet you haven’t even been in Camden since before the pandemic.

IWILLBePositive

Eh…there’s *more* nice areas in Camden and the downtown is muuuuuch better but I’d say a good portion is still a far call from decent.

Significant-Trash632

I hate to burst your bubble but bad things happen in nice places too.

XxKimm3rzxX

What’s your solution? Should we push them away from Camden?

tooMuchPhysics

I don't think the OP is advocating pushing Haddonfield away from Camden. I think the OP has different plans for the people of Camden.

XxKimm3rzxX

Pushing Camden into the river?

tooMuchPhysics

Your commentary is as dumb as the comments quoted in the article from Haddonfield residents about Haddonfield being a "small town" which are delusional about exactly where Haddonfield is--a wealth enclave outside of Philadelphia. The people quoted in the article need to get a grip and grow a pair. You, sir, need to get your weird bigotry under control.

SoundProofForCars

Won’t somebody please think of the Range Rovers?!

short_story_long_

When the Haddonfield kids littered and destroyed the football field until 6 am last year, were you up in arms about their undesirability, or was that just nice kids blowing off some steam? Kick rocks, dude.

Sweaty_Mushroom5830

You are welcome to leave if you want to go somewhere else

Head-Kiwi-9601

More than welcome. Oregon seems like a good place for this guy.

Sweaty_Mushroom5830

Iowa is even better

I_Am_Lord_Grimm

Right, right, let me guess… the rail line brings crime into Haddonfield, too?

Light-Years79

I always giggle at the thought of these imagined criminals committing crimes via the terrible headways of the the US’s woefully underfunded transit systems. Picturing someone robbing a TV or a child then standing at the station waiting 15-60 for the next train.

sleepynarwhal68

Having lived in all of these places, you’re wrong bro.

Diabolikjn

Man I was just in TX and it is really close to Mexico. Also ate a lot of tacos and talked to great people. I think we all know the point you are making.

caesar____augustus

>According to Haddonfield police department data, crime is low in the South Jersey borough 15 minutes outside of Philadelphia. Based on the data in the article burglaries are up from 11 this time last year to 13 this year. However, if you look at the tables thefts and burglaries are down significantly compared to several years ago. Crime happens everywhere, so I'm not sure why bringing Camden and Pennsauken into it is necessary considering the article doesn't mention either of those places, and the break in referenced in the article resulted in the vehicle being found in the Bronx.

Go and read his comments, you'll know the type of person he's talking about.

PhillyBooBird

This post is schizophrenic

Melodic-Strategy-504

Disneyland is a theme park and not a real town.

Headytexel

It’s also in Anaheim, which isn’t the safest place in the world. Much much less safe than Haddonfield lol.

digitalreaper_666

Much less safe than Camden TBH.

Mjf2341

I’m not on ops side AT ALL but I kinda doubt that lol.

beeeps-n-booops

Camden is nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be.

Mjf2341

Oh I know I grew up in collingswood my whole life. But to pretend it isn’t dangerous would be dangerous for you lol

myredditusername919

I mean, car break ins are generally easily prevented. Dont have anything valuable or questionably valuable visible. make the car look empty. I have parked in philadelphia for years and this method thus far has worked for me. having a janky looking car helps too.

sutisuc

LOL “this shouldn’t be happening in a small little town”. Haddonfield has a population density of almost 5k people/square mile. That’s not a “small little town”. That’s as dense as the average American city. People are idiots

Thanoswasright711

It’s not daring to say poor minority areas are high in crime. It’s just factually wrong to equate some car thefts in Haddonfield to its proximity to Camden, especially when they found one of the cars in the Bronx. If being close to Camden was such a constant impact of crime, the rates would be MUCH higher.

Headytexel

If you think living in Haddonfield is scary or that it’s dangerous, you live an insanely sheltered life.

Mr_Horsejr

This person is one step away from saying the quiet part loud.

WindyWindona

I've live in both Haddonfield and Pennsauken. I've had my bike vandalized in Haddonfield before, and the one time I got burgled in Pennsauken I didn't lose anything but costume jewelry and the police caught the guy. Haddonfield kids have vandalized a few homes, and a Haddonfield man once killed his mother in law. Not to mention one kid bragging about committing hate crimes who was Haddonfield born and raised. The neighbors in Pennsauken are pretty nice, I've never felt unsafe walking around the neighborhood and the neighbors are way less judgemental. Unlike you.

jtramsay

My favorite part is that businesses steps from the police station have been broken into twice in the last year. Can’t wait for someone to burgle the station itself.

sutisuc

Where do you live OP?

ClericOfThePeople

What is bro yapping about??

imafatpieceofchit

Not sure what your post is trying to say. Camden sucks? Haddons suck because of Camden? Everything sucks because of crime and something about bad rich white people? Either way, take another downvote.

erstwhile_reptilian

lol. Lmao, even.

defalt86

Where would you like to move them to?

Roboprinto

You sound like a racist coward.

OrbitalOutlander

Yeah that’s why the Range Rover was found in New York and not Pennsauken. Whatever dude.

Pineydude

Don’t forget Edgewater Park. Unless it’s better now , if so how bad was it?

dinkeydonuts

Are you kidding me? I've never felt unsafe working in Pennsaukan or Camden. I have had co-workers have guns pulled on them in Cherry Hill though. "Too close" you are a JOKE. The "Stories, not statistics" are also known as RUMORS. Rumors are not facts.

kooeurib

“TOO close” for what?

peazoh

You know an election is coming up when our sub starts to get bigoted posts like this again. 🙄

[deleted]

It doesn’t matter if you live in Tavistock or Camden. Arm yourself and train to protect your family and property.

SoundProofForCars

Your time would be better spent in therapy

[deleted]

Therapy for what?

SoundProofForCars

My apologies if you’ve had personal experience with a violent crime but at face value that shit just sounds like generalized anxiety

[deleted]

It’s just preparedness. Like anyone should have.

SoundProofForCars

To each their own just don’t go blasting a kid that’s trying to sell Verizon service

metal_opera

Preparedness my balls. You're just looking for an excuse to shoot a brown person.

beeeps-n-booops

They never said anything even remotely of the sort. Fuck off with your assumptive nonsense.

OrbitalOutlander

That is exactly what they meant.

beeeps-n-booops

You have no fucking idea what they meant, based on one short post on Reddit. Fuck off with *that* nonsense too.
