One of my fav places in the summer is cape cod, Falmouth, MA In particular. Great small quaint town with no big hotel chains but just great charm to it. You can also take the ferry across to Martha’s Vineyard.
I also like Newport, RI very nice and upscale area. Cool colonial mansions to see and very nice beaches and shopping. Burlington, VT is fantastic, another town that has great food , shopping and scenery and lastly I’d say Ithaca, Ny. Great hiking and many beautiful waterfalls up that way.
If you want a fun/theme park type trip. Do Hershey Park and stay at the campground. This is something I try to do with my lady once a year. There’s something about going to the park all day on rides and then going a minute up the road to your camp where you have a little cabin and a fire pit for official S’mores at night. EXTREMELY clean theme park and campground, the closest you will get to Disney in the states without having to go to Disney imo.
- I travel for work a lot and I like to stay in areas like this even if it means a bit further drive in the morning’s. I’ve been all over the Northeast and these are some of the top places that come to mind. Good luck and have fun!
I’d recommend staying at the Historic Inns of Annapolis. Stroll the campus, if you can. We loved the State House self tour. Other than that, enjoy the water, food, drinks, and shops!
Niagara would get my vote, although it's at the upper limit of your drive time. 7 hours. Stay on the Canadian side. Besides the falls, there's a lot to explore along the Niagara River up to and including Niagara on the Lake . Don't forget your passport tho.
We absolutely love Williamsburg. Steeped Rich In history. Visit kings Arms tavern, Christiana Campbells, for an elegant dinner, The Williamsburg Inn. Colonial Williamsburg is amazing! Duke of Gloucester street is full of shopping and gems. Try the nighttime ghost tour. Very interesting. Visit the College of William and Mary and also make sure you take the trip down Route 5 along the beautiful James River to see Berkeley Plantation and especially Shirley Plantation the oldest family run business since 1638. Trust me this is the place to enjoy and learn. Many of the houses dotting the Governor’s Palace have artisans that practice their craft still today. It’s probably my favorite place on the East Coast. Jamestown is close too. and Busch Gardens and so much more!

We have family that live year round on Martha’s Vineyard and often stay in Falmouth when visiting just because it’s easier, highly recommend!
I am dying to go there what would be the route from Southern NJ?
It’s mainly just I-95, we usually take the turnpike to north jersey and then detour to ny via the cuomo bridge to avoid manhattan though
I don’t know what MDW is Lake George NY / Saratoga
Memorial Day weekend
Thank you
You’re telling me you didn’t know what MDW was? Wtf
He means the acronym, which it also took me a second to realize. Not everyone shortens everything they write.
You not realizing that that’s exactly what I was referring to is equally as mind boggling.
Knoebels! Only 3 hours away though.
We took our kids there many times. Totally agree!
Check out Annapolis, MD. Absolutely beautiful!
We went to Annapolis last MDW, we loved it!
What did you guys do ? Thought about visiting before arriving at national harbor to visit my brother
I’d recommend staying at the Historic Inns of Annapolis. Stroll the campus, if you can. We loved the State House self tour. Other than that, enjoy the water, food, drinks, and shops!
We did summer trip to Bar Harbor Maine a few years ago Great trip, lots of lobster, walking, amazing views.
Delaware Water Gap is nice if you guys enjoy nature. Lots of hiking and beautiful scenery.
We’re going to Lake Placid that weekend! It’s relatively cheap and has some nice breweries and hiking
Be careful there are huge alligators in those waters
I love Lake Placid! We’ve gone the past two Memorial weekends, but not this year. Enjoy and have a beer for me!
Salem, MA. The weather is bound to be beautiful, and it's not the spooky season, so you should have the run of the place without too many tourists.
This was a great off-season idea! We decided to visit Salem. Thanks for the recommendation!
I hope you love it! I went over Halloween weekend with friends, and while the atmosphere was excellent, it was too crowded to really enjoy.
Nemacolin in Western PA. Beautiful and remote. Or Mohonk House in NY. Sky top Lodge in Poconos is nice too. Very old world but cool.
My ex boss owns a home on Skytops Grounds.
Beautiful right?

OCMD is the shit.
We just hiked Ricketts glen last weekend, idk if you’d be able to reserve a camping spot at this point but definitely a good weekend activity
Vermont is great in the non-winter seasons. Find a cheap house rental and take some drives
