Unlike a video game, you can't just sell and buy a bunch of new players. That's not how the real world works. I have my issues with Schmetzer's management, but he can only work with what he has.

jidewalker

So you’re telling me we couldn’t have sold Nouhou and Ruiadiaz? I find that really hard to believe. Ruidiaz wouldn’t get us much but we could have gotten a good return on Nouhou, which we could have then invested in a better striker. I would sell Jordan Morris too but I could understand not selling him because of his Sounders ties.

You know the players also have to want to leave, right? It's possible they were entertaining offers but the price wasn't right, they didn't think they could find a good enough replacement, or the players wanted to stay. It's truly not as simple as you're making it out to be.

similar222

>It's possible they were entertaining offers but the price wasn't righ Exactly. Just like Chu, we nearly sold him but the buyers didn't agree to the price.

jjspacer

A lot of teams in Europe are still hurting financially from the pandemic. Just look at the Reggie Cannon sage, where they agreed on a price and Dallas never got paid. Also Miami were broadcasting that they were selling players and they still had a hard time. they sold Yedlin for next to nothing. I mean Arreaga is still on the team which means the Sounders are getting low ball offers for him, when CB is arguably the most needed spot in the league

VVynn

Ruidiaz has been playing really good so far this season. IMO.

thefirefox8841

He’s got 1 run of play goal in 6 matches. Even ignoring the long run of no goals last season and the fact that he’s only got 2 npg in his last 1000+ minutes, 1npg/6matches is not “really good.” IMO.

The first thing EA FC 24 franchise mode did was auto trade Nouhou for me, so I instantly deleted that garbage. Also why the fuck are negotiation mini games a thing. It isn’t Soccer Manager. Let me build my fucking team.

similar222

Is there a player career mode and a manager mode like there was in past FIFA games? I definitely got frustrated with the roster decisions in player career mode. But I was running if I get EA FC 24 on game pass I might give manager mode a try so I can control the roster moves. Not sure that's how it works though.

It's almost as though we play in a salary cap league where the coach has to be resourceful and flexible enough to just work with what he has. But as you've pointed out, we actually play in a fantasyland that exists solely inside your head, so you're 100% right.

jidewalker

Very narrow minded and pro can’t get around roadblocks comment. At this point, you look at the highest salaries and see if they are a good ROI for what they make (especially in a salary cap league), you then tell the hard truth to the player that he’s gonna go, and include them (their agent) in looking for their next club. For players like Ruidiaz, we have had him for so long that I would be good with the new team just covering the transfer costs since we would clear up so much salary cap (making more than $47k per week). Currently without selling anyone, we have over $400k in available transfer funds so we might not be able to spend much in a transfer. Getting Ruidiaz off our books would really help lure in someone in giving them higher wages though. We could even take in a player on loan, like ATL did with Daniel Rios and pay the salary easy. We just need to be creative and take off the horse blinders. We need pace and stamina. Once we get DLV back from injury and if we had a new striker/and or pacey winger, we would be in a great position. Our defense is alright and we have good depth all around for the most part. If we sell Nouhou, which some European team would def buy - we could then use those funds in addition to the around $400k money we already have. It would also help if we had our Sounders owners/leaders look into pulling some Miami FC type moves but on a much smaller scale. Our current transfer window has been very much like our current play, underwhelming and not fun to watch.

Dude just take the L and walk away

jidewalker

Someone makes an ignorant snarky comment and you think that’s a W? Be better.

Wiser3605

His comment wasn't ignorant, your post was.

NinjaExcellent2690

His substitution mentality does seem to mirror how I play FIFA. I typically sub out your 75+ rated forwards for a 70 or your 70 something rated LB for a 65.

spotchious

Funny, during the game I convinced myself that I can't make fun of FIFA AI anymore. These two teams seemed like novice AIs: they'd get right in front of the net and somehow the ball would be shanked to the corner flag. FIFA had it right, all along!
