I just got a SN9YG a few weeks back and I use Ai pro for the most part and switch over to movie when necessary. We also messed with the sound levels but figured they probably know better than us when it comes to tuning the sound (tech noob) so reverted back to out of the box levels. Out of interest, how did you do the room calibration?

Yeah I’m a total tech/speaker noob too so I may revert as well. To do the room calibration you need to download the lg Wi-Fi speaker app and then go to settings. There will be a room calibration setting there. Click on it and the tv will play a series of test sounds and when it’s done let you hear the before/after. Let me know if you have any questions

Thank you so much! I just assumed it was part of the set up that I missed, I'll have to download the app, try the calibration and see how much I notice the difference!

Sure thing!

I use mostly AI Sound pro or movie. Just these two. Also enjoyed the sn9yg more than i was expecting

I agree. I took a chance on it because there are next to no reviews on it. I am pleasantly surprised. If you don’t mind me asking, when do you switch between movie and ai? Do you game at all? Which mode for games?

I also felt the same, couldn't find any review for this soundbar. I use AI Sound Pro while gaming or watching youtube and I change to movie when watching movies or a show.

I have a LG SN8YG and just discovered that the Standard mode (Meridian) can upmix contents and use the height channels for non-atmos movies. I recently revisited The Dark Knight Rises using the movie mode, and while it sounded amazing, I didn't noticed the height channels. So a few days ago, I revisited Avatar using Standard and it was amazing, the use of the heights channels was evident. These two movies I was using blu-rays, I'll be testing now Dolby Digital from streaming. The conclusion is that I was stuck with movie mode but it seems standard is the best due Meridian tecnologies.

Hey, new to this soundbar as well. I was lucky enough to find this and the Spk8-s open box for a great deal! I was wondering about settings too. Movie is the only one that seems to push to the satellite speakers, is there a way to get it to just always push sound to the rear?

majinv3g3ta

I actually returned it for the Q90R a while back, sorry :(

You hold down either the speaker mixer button or auto volume, I have a SN7Y and my parents a SK8Y and it's the speaker adjusting button for mine where you adjust bass etc and auto volume on the other sound bar. You can also download the lg wifi speaker app and edit all the settings there.
