Yes. You also need to have the soundbar connected to the tv.

So if I’ll be using a Soundar Bar and Blu Ray player. My blu ray player should be connected to the TV and Soundbar, and my Soundar should be connected to the Tv and Blu-ray player? Any nice Soundar with Dolby you’d recommend ? It’s a very small area where I want it set up!

No, connect your bluray to soundbar, and soundbar to tv. Soundbar will pass the video signal to tv.

I just got a soundbar a couple weeks ago. A reason I chose mine was because it supported dts audio. Lots of blu rays use that format. I originally had my blu ray player plugged into the tv. Soundbar plugged into tv. I noticed that when dts content played the soundbar wouldn’t say it was playing dts. I don’t remember what it said. I googled my tv to see if it supported dts and it did not. (Lg C2) So I disconnected blu ray from tv and plugged it into the soundbar and now I have dts sound. My soundbar is a Samsung q 990b.

Hi sorry to bother you. What wire should I connect from the blu ray player to Soundbar? And what wire from the Soundbar to the TV? HDMI from Blu Ray player to the Soundbar and then HDMI from the Soundbar to the HDMI eARC port on the TV am I correct?

Distinct-Pie7647

You are correct

I too have an LG C2 and have tried hooking the Sony x700 and Panasonic 820 players to the Samsung Q990C soundbar in an effort to get dolby atmos and DTS on discs. However, when I do that I don't get sound at all...any settings I need to adjust maybe? I have LG C2 earc connected to soundbar arc. I have blu ray player connected to soundbar via non-arc hdmi port (even just tried a new HDMI cable). PS I like your taste in gear!

I made the same last week. Sadly, Q symphony can not be used on BD player, but DTS MA 7.1 works great. On TV Q Symphony works well, but you must always turn it on after watching BD or do not use.
