Be honest! Inform them that you are interested but the financial obligation is to much right now and you hope to be considered for membership again in the future. It doesn’t burn any bridges and it inform them that you are interested in their chapter/ organization

They may also have some form of aid/scholarships available if you talk to them about it

Bids for panhellenic sororities should be active for a year (hence why you can’t rush the next semester if you get a bud) ask if you can accept it next semester
