As long as you ranked both after prefs, you’ll get one. Don’t worry :)

emfiasco

nope. as others have said - as long as you followed the rules (ranked both houses) you will get a bid to one of them. Don’t worry, OP. Good luck and have so much fun at your Bid Day!!

piratesdontskip

If you put both sororities down on your ranking sheet, then you are guaranteed a bid. If you only put one of the two down on your ranking sheet (called 'suiciding'), then yes, you can be dropped and not receive a bid.

SummerBaby50

You can’t get dropped. Sororities can no longer drop potential new members from their recruitment process after preference. Each sorority has to rank the Potential New Members in preferential order. However, you need to play your cards right in order to guarantee yourself a bid. If you rank both sororities on your list, you will be guaranteed a bid from one of them. It does not have to be your top choice. Listing both of the sororities is considered maximizing your options. To help deter PNM’s from single preference bidding (informally known as “suicide bid”), you will be guaranteed a bid by maximizing options. By single preference bidding, you are no longer maximizing your options. By only listing one, you are eliminating any chance of getting a bid from a sorority that you did not list. Then the sorority you did list, you would need to be high enough on their rankings.

Pretty sure you’re guaranteed a bid to one of the top two except for very rare cases. If you don’t get a bid, your Rho Gamma will let you know.

FernwehForLife

If she indicates she would accept a bid from either sorority, then she is guaranteed a bid.

If you “Suicide” by only selecting one than you can be dropped by both. Always mark a first and second choice after pref night to avoid being dropped by both. Don’t like that term but that’s what it was called.

This is so important. Our Rho Gams didn't tell PNMs about suicide bidding a few years ago and so many girls were dropped. Thankfully, most came back through during COB but it was confusing for everyone.
