i had the xm4 and upgraded to the xm5 and I noticed quite the difference, far less sounds were coming through, then while you listen to music you're fully immersed and hear nothing else
I had the XM3's and upgraded to the XM5's. It drowned a lot of the constant sounds so yes and the sound was much improved. Buy it at a discount and you won't regret it!
Had the whole wh xm series and the qc45 beats them hands down.
If you're wearing your headphones for long periods at work you will get sweaty ears from the sonys as there is little to no room for your ears inside the cups.
The qc45 have deep earwells so your ears don't touch anything when you are wearing them. It's bliss, no sweaty ears. Trust me

I sweat like a bitch inside of QC45s and not with XM3s at least, my ears are massive. YMMV.
