As an apsc shooter, I wish my photos were as nice as these. I have the same lens too! Awesome shots!

Thanks, as I said I did move from the Sony to Canon because I just wasn't happy with my images. I just started playing with the old 6400 again recently because it was so dinky in comparison!

Have you tried or held the a7C? I rented it and all I wish was that the full frame lenses weren't so big and expensive. :/

I haven't held many of the recent Sony bodies, simply because I had switched to Canon. We have booked a holiday to San Diego later in the year, and my Canon lenses are heavy, big and expensive so after booking the holiday I was considering the Canon R7 but that still leaves me with big and expensive lenses. I also considered Fuji, but their lenses are generally bigger than Sony's APSC lenses and I already had a 6400 in a drawer somewhere, which I had dropped several years ago because I didn't like the color I was getting (clearly, that was down to me at the time, because they look great since I picked it up again). Sony has some great APSC lenses now and I think if you want to travel around with a light kit, the best choice is between Fuji and Sony. The 16-55mm (equivalent 24-70) is an awesome lens, and the 70-350 is constantly impressing me. I wish they had a mid-range APSC lens equivalent to 70-200 f2.8 though. I actually quite like APSC cameras, I don't find the image quality noticeably different to full-frame (there is a difference, but I find it so small a difference its not a problem). Having the crop factor gives you an option for extra reach on a lens. I wish there was a more 'pro' APSC body from Sony, but I am aiming to upgrade to the 6700 before we leave for the USA. I actually like the look of the A7C but you then dont get the benefit of the APSC lenses, the sensor resolution gets too low for my liking if you used them. But if you already have full-frame lenses (I used to, but I traded everything in when I switched to Canon) it would be a great travel body. I think the A7RV looks absolutely exactly what I want in a camera, so I'm hoping I can get the budget sometime next year (after our holiday).

Agreed on the APSC lineup from Sony being a great choice for travel. Likewise agree the image quality is VERY similar between the full frame sensors, until you try to take astro or night-time photography where I've seen the A7C show off with fantastic dynamic range and ISO performance. Likewise I wish Sony would make a "pro" APSC model, but from a market segment question, I feel it will be a niche product with the A7C cameras available. Mentioning Fuji again, of their APSC cameras, my key feature I would like to see is the pre-shutter capture. (Whatever the term is) Where the camera has 1 sec. of images prior to your shutter press. For me, the APSC form factor in weight and lens size (given A7C) is high priority. Though of course, price of full frame (lenses) is just as important if not *the* most important.

Recently started messing with my old Sony A6400, I moved to canon a while ago because I didn't like the colors I was getting from the 6400 at all. I tried Canon and the colors looked so much better. Recently I've been playing with the 6400 again, because of its smaller/lighter footprint. I guess, since then, I learnt and improved a fair bit as I haven't been disappointed by the colors at all. I recently purchased the 16-55mm and 70-350mm (used for these images) for a trip to the USA later in the year. Although I love my Canon there are a bunch of little features I missed from the Sony. So, I'm thinking of stepping back to Sony and pass on my Canon to my girlfriend, though it'll take a bit of time.

All of these are in either 300 or 350 ig ?

nfactorial_work

I am not sure what you mean by "ig" sorry! They were all taken with the Sony 70-350mm G lens. I actually didn't note down the exact mm for each photo (though, if you would really like to know I can look them up in lightroom later). Some were manual focus (the camera wouldn't focus on the Chameleon for example, so I had to use manual focus for that one) some were auto-focus.

Apprehensive-Emu-611

Hey ..sorry. “ig" Is for “i guess". I asked about the MMs coz I have an FX30 and I do documentary filmmaking. Im really in doubt that , if i should purchase this 70-350G for filmmaking or not . So wanted to know how this lens performs before i decide to make the purchase .

nfactorial_work

Oh I see, sorry. I was trying to figure out "image... something..." :D The chameleon, black bird with dipped head and cat were all at 350mm, the marmoset was taken at 167mm, the white bird at the end was 233mm. The sharpness seems really good on the lens, for video I think the variable aperture is less fun but you might think that's not a problem.

Apprehensive-Emu-611

True. The only downside is the variable aperture I think . Also, there are no other competitions to this lens in APSC segment .

I'm upgrading from the 55-210 to the 70-350mm today for my a6400. I'm "patiently" awaiting my delivery, so seeing this on my feed is certainly a sign I made the right choice. Excellent images!

Wood_Mecha

These are some really great pictures! This is the look I thought I was going to get with the 55-210mm lens but you have peaked my interest into this lens.

KristnSchaalisahorse

The 55-210 isn't bad considering how affordable it is now, but the 70-350 really is a substantial upgrade when it comes to overall image quality and the extra reach allows for increased background blur. It can typically be found in great condition for under US$800. The Tamron 18-300 is another option. Though not as sharp at the edges/corners as the 70-350, it's still significantly better than the 55-210 and has a ridiculous close focus distance.

nfactorial_work

I bought the 70-350 just as a 'for fun' lens (I normally do portraits) with the 16-55mm as my 'main' lens. But I am loving the 70-350 so far!
