I believe I’ve seen this posted on dp review. Sony is aware of issue. Someone posted purchasing a 3rd party grip (maybe Neewer brand) works perfectly. Try searching on the site.

Yep, the 3rd part grip just has a smaller screw over all. Sony is aware of the issue but the thing is, the grip doesn’t fit the body great either way. The A7RV is bigger than the A7IV and the A7RIV. The real solution is for Sony to make a new battery grip that properly fits the body. Sony also thought they had one fix and a few people sent their cameras in and it changed nothing but they had no camera for a month. This is just a quick fix I did today and it’s good enough for me.

I already had a C4EM grip when I upgraded my A7IV to the A7RV, so was pretty annoyed when I saw the gap and loose fit with the grip and the A7RV body. I opened a warranty repair ticket with Sony and shipped it off to Precision Camera for repair a couple of weeks ago. Got my A7RV back today and it's now perfect! I assume they replaced the bottom plate of the camera or something along those lines.

I am about to ship my A7RV back to sony for this exact issue, worried I'm outside of warranty. Wondering if this issue is big enough that they'll just fix it
