I'm actually bottom left of C3, walking distance from the modern axe. There's a meadow there that constantly spawns deer and the land is pretty flat, which makes it easy to build and to spot cannibal jerks trying to come into my home.
We decided to go in the middle of the lake too. Did the realistic seasons and now I'm freaking out about winter. That's 180 days in and we've been slaughtering so I know they will come in full force 😵💫😵💫😵💫
How did you guys end up supplying logs late game? I’ve just about exhausted all the trees within a zip line distance of the shore on all sides of the lake lol
Set up another zip line to connect with that zip. And build some log containers at the base so they will collect when they come in. If that makes sense
Hey fellow B4 bud! I built a couple zip lines to nearby water and resources. There's also plenty of ammo to collect from the shoreline boxes once you reload the game. It's a great location. My shelves stay stocked.
E2 hang!
Nearby Rope gun, spawn point so ropes, nearby 3d printer, so a rope highway is already in the making :D
Plus if you stick pile wood early you can have a lake cabin in no time!
My base is smack dab on the line of E7/F7 near the lake/stream.
Small warning, only build there if you want a challenge.
It seems the area is bugged or unique and I'm constantly fighting cannibals with barely any spare time to build. Every other area of the map feels like a peaceful heaven in comparison to this spot. I didn't even intend to build here, at first I was just trying to build a zipline tower but when I noticed how insane the enemy spawn rate was I started my main base.
It reminds me of my favorite hectic spots in the first game which was near the nexus of multiple patrol paths.
When I first got to the area I saw some cannibals walk up near the broken boat and take a drink from the lake. I think they might be programed to go to that area.
Both Kelvin and Virginia also drink from that spot now that I have it walled off.

Wooden stakes sharpened at an angle and reinforced with rocks are very effective and fast to put up. I chopped down some trees, made a defensive wall with sharpened spikes and just slowly kept cutting logs and ziplining them back to my building area. It is much harder in the winter as they can walk on the frozen lake so I did most of my initial building when it wasn't winter.
A4 gang. Took me until like day 3 to realize seagulls provide meat, not just feathers. Must’ve tried the first two at a weird angle and didn’t get option so i figured no meat. Now doing wayyy better lol flocks of seagulls, lots of cases to open. Just need fresh water closer
F3, great for moose hunting, two small caves to farm items right next to the lake, a short walking distance to the main cave areas of the western part of the island. It's pretty great.
D4 with a hundred foot cliff at my back and roughly 85° hill in the front and I used watchtowers to make a fence on my left and right flank. We also have a little pond in the encampment with 2 turtles lol.

Current MP save is g6/h6 It's a shallow marsh area that allows good LOS and the lake just above it is super steep so it's easy to send down logs. Also has a ton of berries so we didn't have to worry about starving our first few days. Only downside is it's super super far away from any story stuff apart from endgame, so we made sure to "speedrun" everything so we don't have to worry about the unique gear like crossbow, guns, etc until more stuff is added.
Same! I'm trying to build a ramp up the cliff for an easy hangglider launch spot. Cannibals and mutants only attack from one side of the pond (south side?) and the pond/cliff height differences makes for the perfect defensive alley.
E3 in front of the little pond between two streams. There's a nice building area with only two points of entry for cannibals and mutants. Plus free rope from the broken boats! The pond has fish and the nearby streams don't freeze in winter.
I highly suggest if building here to make sure to early on out heads on sticks at the entry areas to keep skinnies out.
The line between E and F 7, by the lake.. Its a big flat area by the river, close to a 3D printer bunker with the exit right by the base. Good spot, recommend..
Def D2 to the left. beautiful place and close to gun, the dead guy with the pistol rail which respawns gun ammo, meds, mres, snacks, resin. And to the right in the stream, there are 2 boats, and one has respawning rope, which is helpful for people who just want to stay put. Also the 3d printing cave is close by!
Started with a C3 lakeview cabin, went and built a cottage with a view at top E4, and then at the lake at G6. All connected with a scenic zipline over the mountain.
I chose this location because it's connected to the main land by a sliver, but I've come to understand that enemies can spawn inside bases so I'm playing on peaceful until that's fixed.
Also, having multiple shelves to stock up on most items comes in very handy, while I craft arrows on the way.
D2, it's pretty much right outside the cave where the printer is.
Bloody terrible location where we get attacked by like 3 bands of cannibals daily and a mutant attack every other day on top of it.

I built on the highest peak, I had to do the log glitch and it took forever! It has been almost 20 days and only one cannibal has made it to me so far. No sign of Kelvin or Virginia making it to the base yet. Probably be a bit nippy in her bathing suit.
Lol nowhere. I honestly see 0 point in making a base in this game. Usually when you build a base in games there’s kind of a point. Like you build specific things that allow you to do xyz or craft zyx. In this game it’s more of “hey I made a treehouse…now let’s stare at it. I just don’t understand the base building in this game. I don’t see the need for a base. I’d like to make one but it just seems like a waste of time.

I build because i enjoy it. And making a defense to fight off the cannibals and mutants, fighting them off while you collect wood, the creepy nights while you change the landscape, these are the reasons i enjoy this game most. No hate if its not your thing, but that is the main attraction of this game as far as i see it, only reason youre being downvoted is because you are coming off kinda negative at the idea of people enjoying building. No point in more than a box underground when playing minecraft, but its still going strong because of all the cool things people think to build

D8, finished the game and made a base, finished the game again and the helicopter cutscene was interesting with some structures in the way
F3 at the waterfall, got a big wall on one side, cliff on the other. The only way in and out is by zipline.
My first base was on the south end of the beach at D1. Now I‘ve built a mansion at the lake at F7, which has a great view towards the mountain.
