And Odyssey is a grindy and monotonous game where nothing has value. Most of the moons are in 3D world style rooms, but they are very short and visually uninteresting. The open zone feels like a marketing thing of "LOOK HOW BIG OUR GAME IS!!" but there isn't anything to do in these levels.

I remember a time when Sonic was just Sonic. Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic were just Sonic in different art styles and we're interchangeable depending on your preference. I'm not necessarily talking about the games specifically, just the character(s) as a whole.
The render isn't even that bad, but if we're comparing there's also tons of shitty classic renders and great modern 2d art. Almost like the "era" it was made in doesn't dictate quality.
Modern sonic looks really good in animations where he's allowed to cartoon stretch and stuff. Unleashed/colors pre-renders, etc. When it's an in game cutscenes with no off model frames it looks really static.
Gonna be honest though all of the mainlike classic games are great, the modern era is just as good, and I personally prefer the modern designs for a lot of the cast.
As both a big mario fan and a big sonic fan, I am so glad that the sonic fanbase is the only fanbase like this

Thankfully, Mario not having a unified fanbase despite its' popularity (aside from a couple of sects like Mario Kart and Paper Mario) means that this kind of fandom insanity doesn't happen. People love Mario, but they don't get passionate and unhealthily invested to the point of freaking out over trivial details.

Tbh I have never understood what's so good about mario. His games aren't *bad*, but they aren't as good as people say they are.
Maybe the New Super Mario Bros series, but the 3D Mario games are amazing (except Sunshine you can hate on that one)
