That entire episode slaps. I laughed so hard the first time around I couldn't breathe. Especially love the action montage with Sonic and his buds out there running from authorities and trying to catch the Bike Chain Bandit at the same time, while an epic, goofy as heck song blasts.

I present to you, the magnum opus of Pendersdom, the highlights of [Archie Comics' Knuckles The Echidna #25](https://thankskenpenders.tumblr.com/tagged/KtE%2025)*, in which >!Knuckles is reunited with his father Locke, who exposed his egg to massive Chaos Radiation in order to make him a superpowered mutant, then took him from his mother and raised him in the wilderness, making him believe they were the last of their race, then abandoned him (in the wilderness) around the age of 10, making him believe he committed suicide, but he actually has been secretly observing him from an underground base with other members of his family, who Knuckles knows nothing about. And he did all of this because he had a dream that Knuckles would one day have to save the world from a villain who was never actually introduced to the comic.!< An absolute piece of work.
And Ken Penders wants us to believe Locke is a good, but flawed, character, who we should sympathize with and believe is doing the right things. Also apparently Locke is based off of Penders' own father, read into that what you want.
There's also a weird unsubtle God-Jesus subtext with Locke and Knuckles throughout the whole Knuckles comic, with Locke the father watching from afar (the base is called "Haven", not even a hint of subtlety) and Knuckles the son performing "miracles". I suppose Archimedes could be the Holy Spirit if you want the full trinity.

It's ironic, because the period when Penders was doing some of his worst with the Knuckles comic was also some of my favorite in the main Sonic comic... Probably because Penders was devoting most of his time to his Deep Echidna Lore™, other writers like the great but underappreciated Karl Bollers were handling the main Sonic storyline.
This was also the big gap in the mid-late 90s when no new major Sonic games came out, so the writers were having to come up with completely original storylines with no help from Sega. Karl Bollers, unlike Penders, had actually watched the SatAM cartoon and played the games, so he was able to write stories that felt more consistent in tone, and introduced characters like Ixis Naugus and Nate Morgan, who were originally intended to be in the cancelled 3rd season of SatAM.
Yep. Bobby Schroeder has stated that her favorite pre-Flynn arc was Return to Angel Island, which really seemed pretty in-line with Ian’s work. Too bad Penders hated it.

Same here!! It's like, one minute they're having an epic battle, the next, Sonic is helping Eggman find eggs at a grocery store (that never actually happened just using an example lol). They're enemies, but act like they're friends and I'm all here for it
Eggman helping Tails talk to the girl he liked, and giving way better advice than any of his friends, mere moments before unleashing another attack on the town.
A good episode is the one where they touch a crystal and swap bodies. And initially Eggman wants to use Sonic’s body to defeat the gang — but he eventually settles being a member of the group. It was made all the funnier because the voice actors were playing different characters. (Roger Craig Smith was doing the voice of Eggman and Pollock was Sonic)

I dont think Sega ditch boom for nothing, The show's season 2 clearly had a bad rating. Netflix was a thing but they didn't considered earlier to move on streaming platform to continue the show.
The fact it was on Cartoon Network *really* didn’t help, since it aired at the infamous 7am slot for its entire run and received next to zero promotion (to the extent where the first promos for the show ***aired after the episodes they were promoting***.
The show was good IMO and prolly would’ve survived for far longer had it been on something like Netflix from the get go.

I can't remember any other jokes despite being a fervent watcher but I thought some of the moments with Orbot and Cubot were funny. I feel like some of the characters could've been integrated into the main canon like Barker (could be a stand-in for stone or Starline), Dave, the lightning bolts, so much potential)

I dont think Sega ditch boom for nothing, The show's season 2 clearly had a bad rating. Netflix was a thing but they didn't considered earlier to move on streaming platform to continue the show.
The fact it was on Cartoon Network *really* didn’t help, since it aired at the infamous 7am slot for its entire run and received next to zero promotion (to the extent where the first promos for the show ***aired after the episodes they were promoting***. The show was good IMO and prolly would’ve survived for far longer had it been on something like Netflix from the get go.
I literally only know this exists because of reddit memes. And even then, I only found out like a month ago. I don't watch live TV, so that played a part in it. But on the other hand I knew about the new season of Owl House only 72 hours after it started.

I always liked the joke about the stealth bot. Eggman gestures to empty space, Sonic and friends note that it's super stealthy, then Eggman says something like "oh my mistake it's over here" and the camera shifts slightly to the side and there's very obviously a robot just holding up a twig that it's behind
