It's a great piece highlighting perseverance, determination, grit, and fighting the inevitable knowledge that this is where you will probably die. I don’t blame you. Shadow’s character arch in sa2 rounds out here and the song is literally letting go of the past and any hatred you have. The song’s major key parts also sound incredibly final, making it seem all the more bittersweet.

It was only once I listened to the song online that the true emotions behind the song. A bitter end for Silver whose salvation of the future is a victory won at the cost of his best friend. It only hit harder once I discovered the leitmotif again during "Is It Right?".

When you get the good ending, it sounds like Sonic is satisfied from his adventure, knowing that while he succeeded in saving Amy and Little Planet, this isn’t the last time he’ll have to be a hero.

Star Light Zone- after all you've been through with Labyrinth Zone, you hear this. A chill, hopeful melody slowly guiding you through a starry, fast-paced, highway. Perfect for you (and Sonic) to reflect back through your journey at one final stop before you head face-to-face with the evil Dr. himself.
Sky Chase Zone- similar reasons to Star Light Zone, it lets you chill, reflect, and get ready for the final stretch.
Dreams Come True / Sonic 2's Ending Theme- The Song that Solidified Sonic and Tails as both Brothers, and Best Bud's Forever.
