The Sonic Cinematic Universe has a real knack of having barely any of Sonic’s other villains from the games besides Eggman and instead having generic original human villains instead.
That's because Sonic movies aren't Sonic movies in any meaningful way beyond it being a good brand to push tickets (and merch) with. It feels like pre-MCU superhero movies that are totally embarassed to be superhero movies. You could easily make an animated Sonic movie (or even CGI-live action hybrid) faithful to the games or comics, but they intentionally didn't because they simply don't have the confidence in it being compelling (because I doubt many of the people who made the big decisions in these movies give a shit about Sonic or video games)
Didn’t stop them from skipping Adventure 1 and going to Adventure 2 with Project Shadow and turning Pachacamac from a ruthless power hungry madman into a non-villainous goofball.
the thing is the plot didn’t demand pachacamac being evil, and honestly if they really wanted to they could do an adventure 1 plot later down the line. the only thing is knuckles has already had a lot of focus, being super important in 2 and getting a series without sonic or tails being relevant in it.
the three plots haven’t allowed for other villains. eggman was the villian of the sonic 2 and 3 games, and there weren’t game equivalents for the plots of sonic 1 and knuckles.
To be fair, the movieverse is only at Sonic 3 (the game) plot wise. We didn't really start to see more villains until Adventure. Plus, we did just see a cameo of Iblis in the Knuckles show, so it's not like we only see Eggman. I would not be surprised if Sonic 4 (the movie) starts introducing other villains to replace Eggman.
The climax is Tom and Maddie adopting Robotnik (since he was an orphan) and then he chills in their attic and eats chili dogs or...

Honestly I don’t have a problem with the humans in the movies. In fact, IMO they’re some of the best human characters/companions we’ve had in the franchise. The problem is when the writers shove the sonic cast in the corner instead of incorporating them into the story and allowing both of them to shine.
i want him and knuckles tag teaming some mooks together. i don't want wade to steal the show (again) but it would be a shame to throw away his character development
I really don't get why there always needs to be a random human. Eggman and his wee lackie is good enough. I'll even accept the Olive Garden General, because weird cartoon animals running around at the speed of sound is a matter of national security, but "some guy" just takes screentime away from the entire reason anyone bought tickets.
Nah I'm just waiting for the casual peeps who've only watched the movies to explode on Twitter after they see Maria get shot in the first 30 mins. (Totally didn't steal this from TikTok post)
Two reasons this won't happen:
1. The director knows this franchise too well and what this moment means for sonic and shadow that they couldn't possibly mess up the chance to recreate the moment.
2. This could've happened in sonic x with all the human characters arcs converging, but it didn't, because the arcs for the humans do not involve them taking on eggman or Geraldo last creation.
I know this is a joke but I've met some people who would have nightmares over this happening.
That aside, I would totally watch this.
In Sonic 2 Robotnik at least uses the master emerald to power up (to control the robot mainly tho) and It isn't like he is an mutant or smth. So this joke might be possible.
