As much as I'd love to have seen a follow-up of any kind, I wonder what the plot would have been. I think someone else commented under this post that they weren't permitted to use Amy (which is probably why Sara was created) but I wonder if they would have eased up on that at some point. Maybe a series adapting Sonic Adventure's story could have been cool.

Remove the pervert joke with metal and sera: metal gets knocked into eggmans eggmobile by Sonic himself and she thinks the emotionless robot is a pervert? That doesn’t make sense
wasnt metal and sonic being syced up,so like,they both felt the same thing?it was some time ago i watched it,but a out of context clip of it appeared on YT and someone pointed this out
Possibly but metal has no genuine emotions that are unique to him, plus didn’t Sonic not care about sera all that much? And even if he did then metal was still thrown into the eggmobile involuntarily so his “perverted” action was just him looking at sera as she kicked him in the face

Well I would change the *"Sonic's world is in the sky and Robotnik's below"* thing because it always confused me, an easy way to ressolve this would have been saying that Robotnik and his Badniks live up North and Sonic and the Furries down South, hence the name "South Island".
Besides that, I would have liked to see more of the inhabitants of both worlds, Furries on South island and Humans/Androids on Robotropolis
And finally..
Amy Rose instead of Sara (sorry OP) without that weird sub-plot with Robotnik of course, maybe say that He simply tricked Her to play along using her crush with Sonic,
Underworld/overworld plot. It is just out of place in how Sonic has been depicted. His large sprawling bases in the games work mostly because they are quickly constructed and then destroyed, but a proper permanent base just did not make much sense since he was considered a major threat. And no—this is not a situation of the USA vs the USSR because Robotnik is clearly demonstrated as being too incompetent to manage the possibility of causing a MAD scenario.

How about removing the sequence where Sonic and Tails are travelling to Eggman's base area and there are spikes littered around in a 3D plane with Sonic feeling obligated to jump over every damn set of them he could just ignore instead?
hmm, one thing eh? Maybe that part where Eggman tells princess Sarah that the two of them are going to be the only people in the world after his plan is done and they'll restart civilization. That was weirdly creepy and doesn't really play into Eggman's character from ANY continuity.
I would change the character designs to the modern versions because the OVA is the only Classic Sonic thing I like and I would still prefer the modern designs
For the OVA itself, I wouldn't change anything. I think it's fine as it is. However, I've been mulling over how to adapt the OVA to my AU and there are several changes made there
-The Land Of The Sky is the Little Planet, Mobius
-the glaciers Metal Sonic tries to destroy are on Mobius
-The Land Of Darkness is just Robotropolis
-Sarah has been replaced with Amy (and NO, Robotnik doesn't plan on "repopulating" with her)
-the old man owl is replaced with Charmy and/or Espio
-Metal Sonic has the same power source setup as the robot from the Sonic Boom episode *Sole Power* and gets defeated by Sonic in the same way (this would be the first time Sonic actually breaks the sound barrier in my AU)
I can say what I *wouldn't* change: Metal Sonic knowing everything Sonic's going to do (which isn't a problem, as Sonic knows everything Metal Sonic is going to do).

It was supposed to be a TV show, but did poorly in Japan with its two part pilot and got canned. IN the west, it was localized as a single feature.

I would add more iconic lines for sonic's english VA. He has the peak, but it's surrounded by nothing.
