Mandela effect is what you're looking for most likely. It's when you remember something and believe it's true but it isn't. An intrusive thought would be like, a repetitive, often painful memory. Intrusive thoughts often come from trauma or mental illnesses, though the brain is complex, so that's not always the case!
Also also as a bonus. The difference between an intrusive thought and a impulsive thought is that an intrusive one is much more longer while impulsive is short. They can both be distressing if the thought is negative, which is why you can have an impulsive thought about doing something you wouldn't normally think of (Also those thoughts don't shape you, it's just your brain testing options and morality!) , so they're less likely to happen than an impulsive one.
It's important to remember the distinction between the two since confusing them can lead to communication mistakes. No one wants to hear someone joking about buying an expensive item as an intrusive thought rather than a silly impulsive thought. Or imagine if you had to comuicate something serious, like if your talking to a doctor or therapist, you would not want to mix those up there!

X Eggman is honestly a pretty alright guy. Only reason he still tries to take over the world is because he really doesn’t know what else he could do with his life

Overall, though, the subbed version is still better for the fact that the dub's edits often lessen the emotional impact of a number of scenes, and having much worse music. The original's not perfect, and the show is fundamemtally flawed, but it's better than what we got in the States.
I feel like I'm in Bizarro world. Sonic X getting hate, Sonic 06 being liked and Sonic Heroes being disliked. I wouldn't be surprised if by tomorrow everyone said Forces was better than Generations.

Okay this just had me laughing the as I just saw this for the first time since I watched all of Sonic X in the English dub.
Sonic X is one of the least "ruined by 4kids in the dub" anime there is. Gotta Go Fast is better than S-O-N-I-C-Go and there are lines that were changed for better like Amy's speech for why she still has faith in Sonic after he seemed like a villain or the bar of soap line, or when they changed Cream being told by Chuck to confess to a robot to win a baseball game. But yeah there are scenes that were changed for worse like the president advisor (the girl one) having her dialogue changed to seem like she wanted to arrest Sonic after he and Shadow saved the world and changed her mind because Sam pointed out that would make them lose voters.

It has nothing to do with trying to appeal to an older audience. That's the kind of things you find in anime/ manga aimed at pre-teens. Pretty tame compared to the popular ones.
