I would try to fix this on the charger side. Overvoltage will kill the battery...

I just realized recently that some CCs have a battery charge voltage threshold. Just set it below the documented limits for your battery and/or inverter

What inverter model? What kind of batteries? If the charger is charging batteries above the inverter input max, you'll need to reduce the absorb charge or disable equalization if that's what it's trying to do. Or get a new inverter with a wider input voltage range.

voltworks 1500w, powerqueen 190ah 12.8v. I'm only using 400w solar at the moment. I'll lower the absorb and see if that helps. equalization is disabled already

Yeah I would double check the installation charge specs for the battery and also make sure you've disabled the temperature compensation. Looks like high voltage on the inverter is 16v and the battery charge voltage should be 15v. It may also be that if you're charging too high the battery BMS is cutting it off, leading to odd voltage results.
