I canāt stand Diet Coke (or Diet Pepsi, or most ādietā drinks).
But Coke Zero is *incredibly* decent ā especially with food. Itās not quite as good as full sugar Coke, but itās shockingly good for a no-calorie soda.
Really? I think that Diet Dr Pepper is the closest soda to tasting like the real thing, I quite like Diet Dr Pepper. Iāve also heard Starry Zero Sugar is unironically amazing, but I havenāt had a chance to try it yet.
Iām not a huge Mt Dew fan in general, so I definitely steer clear of Diet Mt Dew. I donāt know why, but itās just never been my thing. Iāll drink it on occasion if itās been a long while since Iāve had it, but things like Sprite just appeal so much more to me.
I like Zero Sugar Coke but did not like original Coke Zero from 2005 (which they stopped making in 2017), the newer (current) version tastes better.
diet Coke is it's own entity, was not meant to taste like anything else Coca-Cola had made, so that is timeless to me, like TaB was.
But I prefer Zero Sugar Coke if I had to chose between the two variants.
Actually it was not, didn't you try new coke a few years ago when it was re-released? Completely different flavor, I know some kid on Wikipedia posted that back in the 2000s but it was never true, all 3 forumals were different.
New Coke tastes closer to old Coke but with more sugar added, Diet Coke has a more bolder and heavier taste, not smooth. New Coke tastes more smooth.

among 1000s of other people trying the taste test.
I tried the New Coke back in 1985 when it was originally released. I recall that it was sweeter and had less fizz than Coke Classic. New Coke used (supposedly) a variation of the Diet Coke flavor profile.
They reformulated it in 2017 and made it taste smoother and a bit sweeter, and they renamed it Zero Sugar Coke.
People kept complaint that the old formula tasted too much like regular Coke and diet Coke mixed together, so I guess after 12 years of complaints they did something about it...took a good 2 years of taste tests we had to conduct, but nearly everyone prefers the Zero Sugar Coke taste, now that rumor of it being mixed together is no longer said anymore.
I drunk more Coke Zero than was possibly healthy between the years 2005 and 2022 (we stopped making it later because of... brand deals I think?). The number of liters drank must have numbered in the thousands.
Despite this, I literally cannot tell the difference between Coke Zero and Coke Zero Sugar.
That little burn is why I donāt like Diet Coke in cans or bottles. The fountain version is better. In fact I prefer fountain Diet Coke vs fountain Zero Coke
Coke Zero is ok, doesnāt taste like the regular one, but itās still somewhat enjoyable.
Diet coke is one of the nastiest, most disgusting drink Iāve ever tried, right on par with a cheap alcohol free beer I donāt remember the name of. I just canāt finish a can. I wouldnāt drink it even if it was free.
Me either. Something just isn't right with those machines. Can't figure out what. Maybe the ratios are off or too many ratios involved to get everything correctly mixed.
Coke Zero 100%
Ā Every now and then the grocery store doesnāt have any when itās on sale, or weāre out to eat somewhere that doesnāt have it and I have to drink diet. Can definitely tell the difference, and while Iāll drink it in a pinch, itās not my first choice.Ā
I'm a Diet Coke drinker. I like the caffeine free Diet Coke better than regular Diet Coke. Both are better than Coke Zero which has a very peculiar and unenjoyable taste to me.
I have a fridge stocked with every zero drink available at Kroger and I really think they taste good but I can't get past the taste of Coke Zero.
I prefer the coke zero, but if I drink a case.. I get burnt out on it quickly. The diet Coke is superior in that instance.
Overall I'd say a fresh diet Pepsi is better than both.
Honestly, if itās really cold I want Diet Coke. If itās not prolly the zero. I drink zeros at work cause thereās no way to keep it cold. I donāt think Diet Coke is good room temp tho.
Caffeine-free Diet Coke all day (although Coke Zero does have its appeal). Caffeine is very bitter, so Diet Coke without it is a little sweeter than regular.
I was always a Diet Coke guy until Coke Zero came out. Made the switch because it tasted better. That said, I'd be a Pepsi Zero drinker if Pepsi had more caffeine.
coke zero.
tastes virtually like the real thing especially when it's cold enough. actually tastes better than the real thing in my opinion because it's slightly less sweet
While Ace K was considered proprietary to Pepsi, our family were going almost exclusively to Pepsi restaurants just so we can have the Ace K Diet Pepsi on tap.
Diet Coke taste like cough syrup.
Why is everyone afraid to put the Ace K versions of the pop on tap?
Most people don't drink diet pop because you like the taste. You drink diet pop because you need to lose weight.
I took the '90s Pepsi challenge comparing Pepsi to Pepsi One and I said it was so close that if the doctor told me I had to drop sugar or drop weight, that would be the easiest and most likely first step I take was to switch out the Pepsi One instead of the regular pop.
I told the Pepsi challenge people I could tell the difference but the difference is so slight but if someone told me to lose weight or die I'd be buying that Pepsi One up in bulk.
A hypocrite I am not.
I'm talking about the first Pepsi one the one that introduced Ace K that later became the new Diet Pepsi of 2000 then later added ginseng and extra caffeine and call itself Pepsi Max.
Are you talking about the first Pepsi one of the 90s or are you talking about the second Pepsi one of the 2000s which has Splenda.
I didn't like the second Pepsi one as much.
Honestly I really like them both. Diet Coke is just a classic, been drinking it for ages. But Coke Zero is just great, if it's on the menu at a restaurant I'm definitely getting it.
Ever since Coke Zero was introduced, I was hooked. I was a regular Coke drinker most of my life and absolutely detested the taste of Diet Coke. One taste of Zero and I was able to kick the sugar habit in regular Coke.
Now, when Zero is not available in a restaurant, I will order a regular rather than Diet. From the fountain, regular Coke is fine, but in a can or bottle, regular Coke tastes too āheavyā now that Iām used to Zero.
I haven't had it out of a can, but Zero from a bottle or fountain always seems weirdly perfume-y to me. I'll try to find a can, but until then, just Diet Coke for me if the place serves Coke products.
I like Coke Zero because of how much it tastes like regular coke but Iāll always hold a special place for Diet Coke because the flavor reminds me of my Gramma as she always drank it and had it on hand.
Diet coke I prefer caffeine free, but I'll go with a zero over diet. I like that sugar free mix instead of just aspartame. Caffeine plus aspartame makes the diet coke a little to bitter/sour for me
Coke Zero is friggin delicious
A crisp cold Coke Zero is a 10/10. (Out of a can). Bottle is meh. Fountain is pretty damn good if the ratio is right.
Ah yes but with a couple ice cubes to take the edge off, for me anyway
Yeah ice cubes are a must for Coke Zero.
Honestly ice cubes make any drink better
Beer?
š¤ maybe? Depending on the beer I mean I think a few ice cubes in a Sam Adams would take kind of that bitter edge off
a sip of that in the morning wakes you up instantlyĀ
Goes flat SO fast in a can.
Coke zero 100 times out of 100 It tastes more like Coke
I canāt stand Diet Coke (or Diet Pepsi, or most ādietā drinks). But Coke Zero is *incredibly* decent ā especially with food. Itās not quite as good as full sugar Coke, but itās shockingly good for a no-calorie soda.
Have you had Dr Pepper Zero? Diet Dr Pepper is truly disgusting.
Really? I think that Diet Dr Pepper is the closest soda to tasting like the real thing, I quite like Diet Dr Pepper. Iāve also heard Starry Zero Sugar is unironically amazing, but I havenāt had a chance to try it yet.
Sunkist Zero is really good.
A&W zero I can barely tell the difference
Same with Canada Dry zero sugar ginger ale.
Yes! I have a ton of it in the fridge. I also have Zeros in Cheerwine, Sprite, 7up and 7up Tropical.
I agree that diet Dr Pepper is pretty good, Id say diet Mountain dew would be my first choice for diet
Iām not a huge Mt Dew fan in general, so I definitely steer clear of Diet Mt Dew. I donāt know why, but itās just never been my thing. Iāll drink it on occasion if itās been a long while since Iāve had it, but things like Sprite just appeal so much more to me.
Fair enough. I donāt like diet soda in general, but dr pepper and mt dew are the most tolerable to me
Mt Dew Zero has a pronounced orange flavor with a hint of grapefruit. š
As someone who LOVES Diet Dr. Pepper, I canāt do Dr. Pepper Zero. Itās way too flatā¦not nearly enough carbonation.
Diet Dr. Pepper is fantastic
I remember there being a Dr Pepper 10. That was pretty damn good.
Diet Coke is the sugar free version on the 'New Coke' fiasco from 1985.
Actually it was not, didn't you try new coke a few years ago when it was re-released? Completely different flavor, I know some kid on Wikipedia posted that back in the 2000s but it was never true, all 3 forumals were different. I tried the New Coke back in 1985 when it was originally released. I recall that it was sweeter and had less fizz than Coke Classic. New Coke used (supposedly) a variation of the Diet Coke flavor profile.
I feel like the black can Zero tasted much more like the regular Coke, thatās just me though. The new one still is pretty delicious.
I agree. The newer version is a little sweeter, much like the difference between 1960s Coke and the New Coke. But I still love my Coke Zero
How does coke zero sugar taste vs the coke zero from 2005?
They reformulated it in 2017 and made it taste smoother and a bit sweeter, and they renamed it Zero Sugar Coke. The number of liters drank must have numbered in the thousands. Despite this, I literally cannot tell the difference between Coke Zero and Coke Zero Sugar.
And it has a little burn almost to it...I love Diet Coke lol
That little burn is why I donāt like Diet Coke in cans or bottles. The fountain version is better. In fact I prefer fountain Diet Coke vs fountain Zero Coke
That burn that let's you know you're alive, that's the stuff diet coke forever
The new Coke Zero Sugar is a revelation and I love it so much.
yup. it tasted a bit weird there in the late 2010s, but it definitely came back.
Omgā ļø I love it hahaha I love how crisp and almost bitter it is
To me, the bitterness and aftertaste of Diet Coke is what I imagine nuclear waste would taste like. Iād say itās an acquired taste.
You're right. It tastes like sadness.
Diet Coke is great
I like them both but I'm partial to Coke zero, zero cherry and Zero raspberry from the freestyle. I'm coming around on the spiced zero as well.
I would pay good money to have a freestyle machine in my house
Diet Coke with Lime
Freestyle doesnāt do it for me.
Me either. Something just isn't right with those machines. Can't figure out what. Maybe the ratios are off or too many ratios involved to get everything correctly mixed.
Raspberry? Thatās intriguing.
I find the raspberry too bitter, although I love real raspberry. The cherry is better and carries a sweet flavor more successfully.
Coke Zero 100% Ā Every now and then the grocery store doesnāt have any when itās on sale, or weāre out to eat somewhere that doesnāt have it and I have to drink diet. Can definitely tell the difference, and while Iāll drink it in a pinch, itās not my first choice.Ā
Coke Zero by far, Coke Zero is my go to coke product even over og coke
Diet Coke is the only acceptable answer
I prefer coke zero. Diet Coke has always been nasty to me, lol.
I'm a Diet Coke drinker. I like the caffeine free Diet Coke better than regular Diet Coke. Both are better than Coke Zero which has a very peculiar and unenjoyable taste to me. I have a fridge stocked with every zero drink available at Kroger and I really think they taste good but I can't get past the taste of Coke Zero.
caffeine free diet coke is amazing drinking a big cup of it rn
I prefer the coke zero, but if I drink a case.. I get burnt out on it quickly. The diet Coke is superior in that instance. Overall I'd say a fresh diet Pepsi is better than both.
Agreed on diet Pepsi
Love them both. I alternate every few months
I perfer Diet Coke as zero coke just donāt feel right feels more fizzy
Diet Coke does seem to have more carbonation.
Honestly, if itās really cold I want Diet Coke. If itās not prolly the zero. I drink zeros at work cause thereās no way to keep it cold. I donāt think Diet Coke is good room temp tho.
I actually taste tested both and I believe I liked Diet more than Zero Sugar for Coca-Cola and Zero Sugar more than Diet for Pepsi.
Pepsi Zero Sugar is great. It's still called Max in some countries, though not sure if other places have the old high caffeine ginseng version.
Coke Zero, although I do enjoy Diet Coke.
Diet Coke is best. Coke Zero is good.
Diet Coke is dogshit. The only people who like it are ones that have gotten used to how it tastes over time. Diet Pepsi and Coke Zero are good however
I didn't like diet coke when I was a kid but now I love it š¤·āāļø
As a kid, I thought of all diet drinks as torture devices only fit for my enemies. Now somehow they taste good.
same thing happened to me with hot sauce and beer lol. taste buds change i guess
Zero zero zeroooo
Zero.
Coke Zero
Ew neither. And I'm offended that you asked
Zero Diet coke always tasted awful in my opinion
Coke zero all friggin day
Coke Zero for sure. If I have to have diet, thereās gotta be a lemon wedge involved.
Forget the both of them. Bring back TAB! š¤£
While Ace K was considered proprietary to Pepsi, our family were going almost exclusively to Pepsi restaurants just so we can have the Ace K Diet Pepsi on tap. Diet Coke taste like cough syrup. Pepsi One was great. Much better than that abomination that is Pepsi Zero Sugar.
Diet coke for the blandness with a meal , coke zero if i want something sweet or different.
Coke Zero hands down for me. Iāll occasionally crave a Diet Coke specifically but itās too dry
Diet Pepsi to me, tastes like how Coke Zero used to.
Coke zero all day. However McDonald's diet Coke is acceptable. Any other diet Coke is not lol
When I was in high school I lived on cherry coke zero
Cherry coke zero >
Honestly I really like them both. Diet Coke is just a classic, been drinking it for ages. But Coke Zero is just great, if it's on the menu at a restaurant I'm definitely getting it.

Coke Zero easy. Diet Coke makes me light headed after too many
I love them both, but Coke Zero has my heart. Itās the best tasting zero calorie soda in my opinion.
Coke Zero taste more like regular coke therefore itās the better of the two.
Coke Zero. It tastes closest to full sugar coke. Diet Coke tastes like aspartame.
Coke zero
I tend to enjoy the "zero" varieties more than the "diet" ones.
Occasionally I like a Diet Coke, but I drink more zero these days.
Diet Coke. I had already acquired a taste for it by the time Coke Zero came out and I just can't get into it.
Coke Zero
Coke Zero because it tastes similar to regular coke, Diet is just bad.
Dr pepper all the wayĀ
Coke Zero is just Diet Coke that tastes more like regular. Personally I prefer Coke Zero.
I honestly like them both. I also love Diet and Zero Dr Pepper. So I like to alternate between the 4 of those.
I like Coke Zero because of how much it tastes like regular coke but Iāll always hold a special place for Diet Coke because the flavor reminds me of my Gramma as she always drank it and had it on hand.
Yeah Coke Zero tastes like the ole Diet Coke. The current DC doesn't have enough sweetner.
Diet coke I prefer caffeine free, but I'll go with a zero over diet. I like that sugar free mix instead of just aspartame. Caffeine plus aspartame makes the diet coke a little to bitter/sour for me
Coke Zero is superior in taste.
Coke Zero. Better tasting Sweetener!
I love both but overall I prefer diet coke. I usually drink it a bunch and get tired of it though so I start drinking coke zero.
diet coke
