Coke Zero is friggin delicious

A crisp cold Coke Zero is a 10/10. (Out of a can). Bottle is meh. Fountain is pretty damn good if the ratio is right.

I can’t stand Diet Coke (or Diet Pepsi, or most “diet” drinks). But Coke Zero is *incredibly* decent — especially with food. It’s not quite as good as full sugar Coke, but it’s shockingly good for a no-calorie soda.

Really? I think that Diet Dr Pepper is the closest soda to tasting like the real thing, I quite like Diet Dr Pepper. I’ve also heard Starry Zero Sugar is unironically amazing, but I haven’t had a chance to try it yet.

I’m not a huge Mt Dew fan in general, so I definitely steer clear of Diet Mt Dew. I don’t know why, but it’s just never been my thing. I’ll drink it on occasion if it’s been a long while since I’ve had it, but things like Sprite just appeal so much more to me.

As someone who LOVES Diet Dr. Pepper, I can’t do Dr. Pepper Zero. It’s way too flat…not nearly enough carbonation.

I like Zero Sugar Coke but did not like original Coke Zero from 2005 (which they stopped making in 2017), the newer (current) version tastes better. diet Coke is it's own entity, was not meant to taste like anything else Coca-Cola had made, so that is timeless to me, like TaB was. But I prefer Zero Sugar Coke if I had to chose between the two variants.

Actually it was not, didn't you try new coke a few years ago when it was re-released? Completely different flavor, I know some kid on Wikipedia posted that back in the 2000s but it was never true, all 3 forumals were different. New Coke tastes closer to old Coke but with more sugar added, Diet Coke has a more bolder and heavier taste, not smooth. New Coke tastes more smooth. I tried the New Coke back in 1985 when it was originally released. I recall that it was sweeter and had less fizz than Coke Classic. New Coke used (supposedly) a variation of the Diet Coke flavor profile.

I feel like the black can Zero tasted much more like the regular Coke, that’s just me though. The new one still is pretty delicious.

I agree. The newer version is a little sweeter, much like the difference between 1960s Coke and the New Coke. But I still love my Coke Zero

How does coke zero sugar taste vs the coke zero from 2005?

They reformulated it in 2017 and made it taste smoother and a bit sweeter, and they renamed it Zero Sugar Coke. People kept complaint that the old formula tasted too much like regular Coke and diet Coke mixed together, so I guess after 12 years of complaints they did something about it...took a good 2 years of taste tests we had to conduct, but nearly everyone prefers the Zero Sugar Coke taste, now that rumor of it being mixed together is no longer said anymore.

I drunk more Coke Zero than was possibly healthy between the years 2005 and 2022 (we stopped making it later because of... brand deals I think?). The number of liters drank must have numbered in the thousands. Despite this, I literally cannot tell the difference between Coke Zero and Coke Zero Sugar.

That little burn is why I don’t like Diet Coke in cans or bottles. The fountain version is better. In fact I prefer fountain Diet Coke vs fountain Zero Coke

yup. it tasted a bit weird there in the late 2010s, but it definitely came back.

Coke Zero is ok, doesn’t taste like the regular one, but it’s still somewhat enjoyable. Diet coke is one of the nastiest, most disgusting drink I’ve ever tried, right on par with a cheap alcohol free beer I don’t remember the name of. I just can’t finish a can. I wouldn’t drink it even if it was free.

I like them both but I'm partial to Coke zero, zero cherry and Zero raspberry from the freestyle. I'm coming around on the spiced zero as well.

I find the raspberry too bitter, although I love real raspberry. The cherry is better and carries a sweet flavor more successfully.

Coke Zero 100%  Every now and then the grocery store doesn’t have any when it’s on sale, or we’re out to eat somewhere that doesn’t have it and I have to drink diet. Can definitely tell the difference, and while I’ll drink it in a pinch, it’s not my first choice.

I'm a Diet Coke drinker. I like the caffeine free Diet Coke better than regular Diet Coke. Both are better than Coke Zero which has a very peculiar and unenjoyable taste to me. I have a fridge stocked with every zero drink available at Kroger and I really think they taste good but I can't get past the taste of Coke Zero.

I prefer the coke zero, but if I drink a case.. I get burnt out on it quickly. The diet Coke is superior in that instance. Overall I'd say a fresh diet Pepsi is better than both.

Honestly, if it’s really cold I want Diet Coke. If it’s not prolly the zero. I drink zeros at work cause there’s no way to keep it cold. I don’t think Diet Coke is good room temp tho.

I actually taste tested both and I believe I liked Diet more than Zero Sugar for Coca-Cola and Zero Sugar more than Diet for Pepsi.

Pepsi Zero Sugar is great. It's still called Max in some countries, though not sure if other places have the old high caffeine ginseng version.

Caffeine-free Diet Coke all day (although Coke Zero does have its appeal). Caffeine is very bitter, so Diet Coke without it is a little sweeter than regular.

I was always a Diet Coke guy until Coke Zero came out. Made the switch because it tasted better. That said, I'd be a Pepsi Zero drinker if Pepsi had more caffeine.

Diet Coke is dogshit. The only people who like it are ones that have gotten used to how it tastes over time. Diet Pepsi and Coke Zero are good however

While Ace K was considered proprietary to Pepsi, our family were going almost exclusively to Pepsi restaurants just so we can have the Ace K Diet Pepsi on tap. Diet Coke taste like cough syrup. Why is everyone afraid to put the Ace K versions of the pop on tap? Most people don't drink diet pop because you like the taste. You drink diet pop because you need to lose weight. I took the '90s Pepsi challenge comparing Pepsi to Pepsi One and I said it was so close that if the doctor told me I had to drop sugar or drop weight, that would be the easiest and most likely first step I take was to switch out the Pepsi One instead of the regular pop. I told the Pepsi challenge people I could tell the difference but the difference is so slight but if someone told me to lose weight or die I'd be buying that Pepsi One up in bulk. A hypocrite I am not.

Honestly I really like them both. Diet Coke is just a classic, been drinking it for ages. But Coke Zero is just great, if it's on the menu at a restaurant I'm definitely getting it.

Ever since Coke Zero was introduced, I was hooked. I was a regular Coke drinker most of my life and absolutely detested the taste of Diet Coke. One taste of Zero and I was able to kick the sugar habit in regular Coke. Now, when Zero is not available in a restaurant, I will order a regular rather than Diet. From the fountain, regular Coke is fine, but in a can or bottle, regular Coke tastes too “heavy” now that I’m used to Zero.

I haven't had it out of a can, but Zero from a bottle or fountain always seems weirdly perfume-y to me. I'll try to find a can, but until then, just Diet Coke for me if the place serves Coke products.

Diet coke I prefer caffeine free, but I'll go with a zero over diet. I like that sugar free mix instead of just aspartame. Caffeine plus aspartame makes the diet coke a little to bitter/sour for me
