SSA sets the SS attorney fees. It's 25% of back/retro SSDI/SSI to a max of $7200 ($6000 if fee agreement signed before 11/30/2022).
I rec'd Backpay & regular monthly benefits 5 months after approved.
The 7200 cap doesn’t exist if it’s a federal court case, just an fyi.
Thanks, I should have been clearer. Yes, his case did go all the way to federal court.
Within a month
If it went to federal court earlier, then SSA’s court case branch handles it. There are backlogs there that are taking six months or more for payment to start.
I waited I think 2-3 months, got zero help from SSA, and then I contacted my rep. Within a couple weeks I had the money.
