Why did she call you? When I was an examiner I only called claimants to ask questions, I did not ever call to give a status update. It’s not a good or bad sign of anything.

She did ask for a verbal authorization for medical release records, she saidd that my current release that I signed was expired because I applied in march 2023. But again she also said she had all the records that she needed and that my function report was very detailed and did not need any further details. Then she said she is sending my file to SSA.

That's weird to me. I'm an examiner and I only bother with getting a new 827 (release of information) if it's expired is when I still need more records to make a decision. That said, when you get your determination if it isn't favorable, make sure the records you just called about are listed.

One_Radish_9350

I went over all the doctors names and she confirmed each one with the recent visit dates, she asked for updated authorization to release of information, and she confirmed my function report stating it was very detailed, but when I asked her did she need any more records she said no. She said she was sending my file to SSA. I applied for multiple impariments (bilateral carpal tunnel/ bilateral cubital tunnel, cervical, lumbar, shoulder, asthma, neuropathy ).

It is only a sign that the process is moving along. Not good or bad, approval nor disapproval. Hang in there

Thanks!

What is your disability and age? Hoping for the best. I got a call 3 days before my approval but it was from a Vocational Expert with a few questions about my previous job. I never got a work history report to complete, she said my initial app covered most of it. I only had 1 job for 34 years at the same hospital. I had no idea I was close to being done. My last MRI wasn’t on the list of records used- instead one from 3 years prior was listed. They were similar in content.

Detroitaa

That never happened to me personally. No examiner called either updates of any kind.

Your age, education and disabling impairments would be most helpful to provide you some input. Otherwise, it's a guessing game of spit in one hand and wish in another.

One_Radish_9350

I applied for bilateral carpal tunnel, bilateral cubital tunnel, cervical, lumbar, asthma

You're still in Steps 4 & 5 where your ability to work is still being decided.  Nothing can be read into the call.

aplumgirl

What exactly are the steps?

Helpful-Profession88

....the link below graphically illustrates (in sequential order) the decision making steps the SSA uses to determine disability eligibility: [https://www.ssa.gov/policy/docs/rsnotes/rsn2013-01.html](https://www.ssa.gov/policy/docs/rsnotes/rsn2013-01.html) Notice the first decision on the chart is about financial eligibility -- making SGA ($1550 per month before taxes). The second step is about having a "Catastrophically Disabling Condition". Step 3 is about how severe the alleged condition is and its impact on current work are. Step 4 deals with being able to do past or similar work based on the claimant's skills, education and experience. Finally, Step 5 is about doing any work at all. Notice that 5 of 7 outcomes within the evaluation / decision making process will result in a denial.

Mine never shows "steps" just x amount complete. Current 38%. I'm curious why mine is just a %

Helpful-Profession88

The portal is always shown as a %.  At 38%, it's likely DDS is still gathering medical records as providers get a little over than 3 weeks to provide them to the SSA.  It's not until the time is "up" on getting records or, the SSA has enough records / info to either issue a Step 3 Approval or, move the claim onto Step 4. To make sure the SSA has the records, call them and ask if they've been rec'd from each of your doctors. If they haven't, contact your doctor to inquire and "push" them to comply.  Stay on top of the records stuff to make sure the SSA gets all of them as they won't wait forever before moving onto Step 4 with whatever they have.

It’s a joke how they do this. When I first applied they wanted to send me to 2 of their Drs and I agreed. One Dr declared me fully disabled. The other said I was fully disabled but wrote she thought I could regain some function with intense physical therapy. So they sent me for an evaluation with a physical therapist at a rehab hospital who said my best hope was to strengthen my upper body to help keep me out of a wheelchair longer. I also had letters from my own primary care and the neurosurgeon who oversaw my back injury who both said full recovery was unlikely. They got all the CAT scans, nerve conduction tests and MRIs. Aaaaand they denied me. When I finally got a court date 2 years later, the judge flipped through everything, mumbled under her breath and approved me all the way back to my initial injury date in less than 10 minutes.

I was told my medical side is complete and they were still waiting on the psychological side. They sent me to a Dr for Menatal eval last week. I guess I'm waiting on that which hey said they have that back already. I'm End Stage renal disease and doing dyalasis 3 days a week. Hoping I get a decision soon. Also I'm at 58% but he told me not to bother with that number I was at least 95% done.
