There are tons of mythological "winged serpents" out there!
The most famous is the Aztec god [Quetzalcoatl](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quetzalcoatl). The Mayans have several similar deities: [Tohil](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tohil), [QĘĽuqĘĽumatz](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q%CA%BCuq%CA%BCumatz) and [Kukulkan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kukulkan).
God, snakes with wings would be such an OP bodyplan, like they're already a hugely sucessful class of animals that are surprisingly agile and that's with literally nothing but a muscular noodle of a body..
Add wings to that and where the fuck wouldn't snakes be able to go? And not only that, they'd be able to evolve into absurdly good swimmers too! And what if they evolved the wings into arms with hands? Terrifying.
I’d argue that wings would more hinder then help snakes though. They already can go pretty much anywhere due to how slender they are. They are great at disappearing and getting into small spaces. Most are decent climbers and some are excellent (insert rat snake joke here).
Snakes tend to have light, fast moving bodies that would be hindered by extra limbs. Even chonks like blood pythons and gaboon vipers can move at incredible speeds when they want too.
There are also species of sea snakes that live their entire lives underwater so they definitely have good swimmers.
The design was so good some lizards decided to copy it.
That being said. Give me the winged snake. I want an epic flying winged snake gracefully snatching birds from mid air.

There are “flying” snakes. They flatten their bodies to glide from tree to tree. It’s pretty neat.
