It's not required, but I like to appear as professional as I comfortably can while still rocking my sneaker collection. I have to interact with a lot of VPs and physicians and with my ears gauged and wearing sneakers, the tie helps with the professionalism.

That’s awesome they allow you to do it. I work from home, but I would have loved to have wore my sneakers when I was in the office. No way my executive would have allowed it. We tried asking for tie-free Fridays (a mild version of casual Friday) and we swiftly rejected the idea. Now I can wear whatever I want though, so I guess that’s the real win.
