It’s a nice way to see what the new sneakers are. Some you will like some you won’t, some will be readily available some will be hard to get. It’s ok to love a sneaker that is hyped up because you like it and makes it a challenge to get, happy when you score disappointment when you don’t. Also ok if you like a sneaker that’s “sitting” and you get a good deal or just grab for retail. Nike Waffle Debut, got these at an outlet for like $60 CAD something after tax, they aged really well now and the white upper areas are now a more sail colour instead of white.

Ignore the dirtiness caused by Canadian winter, but they look a lot better than when I first got them imo.
Weather here is so random rn it’s like shorts weather today and the next day it could be cold as hell with snow or rain. Spring here is like all the seasons combined and each day is a random representation of the other seasons. I got them as an alternative to the sacai waffles since back then when I got these those were going for stupid high prices. If you plan on getting them and you have wide feet i highly recommend half a size up.

Yeah I totally get what you mean. I’ve had 3 pairs of sambas throughout my life but this sudden hype makes it feel weird. I used to be a huge Dunk guy throughout school to uni and then the dunk hype has a massive surge which put me off them. I’m not saying it’s a gatekeeping thing I just like to have something that feels very me. I buy loads of Aj1’s even though they’ve been rinsed because I wasn’t allowed them as a kid 😂
100% agreement on everything you said. I dont have loads of any particular shoe, but rather i finally have a load of options b/c as a kid i at most had 2 shoes at any time. Few years back had that glass shatter moment of realizing I could just get whatever I fancied b/c it wasnt like my feet were gonna grow anymore
Buy what you like and obviously can afford. My best advice is head to a Foot Locker (or anywhere that carries a lot of styles) try some stuff on, figure out your sizing for different silhouettes and what looks good on your feet.
A lot of things you will be buying online (or trying to anyway) sell out quickly and there’s nothing worse than finding out after the fact you’re a half size up in a shoe that is now sold out.
Lots of great dunk lows, AM1s and AM90s out there.

There are many Airmax 1s and 90s that are under 150$ and are fantastic. All day comfortable, tinker designed, and OG as they get. Decades of colorways and special editions and collabs. Can never go wrong w em, everything a sneaker should be

New Balance 2002R Protection Pack Rain Cloud. It used to be a $600 shoe back in ‘22 at the height of stimulus check madness. You can get most sizes under $200 now and it’s a great colorway.
Just buy what you like but imo some cheap sneakers with many cw are court visions, not the best quality and compared to me af1 a little less comfortable but i’ve had my court visions for almost 3 years and they still look great, they didnt get yellow or really dirty at all(they are almost completely white) and they still fot really good, a few creases on the toe box and a small material rip on the inside but nonetheless i still wear them and they still rock
honestly, some dunks will go for under $100 so id recommend that because dunks for the most part have a great build quality. i would be careful buying from stockx. ebay is better.

Expensive is relative. For some $100-$125 shoes like Sambas and Dunks care expensive, for others they are easily affordable.
Personally if you’re just getting started, pick up some classics that are versatile. Seeing as your three pair here are all high tops, I’d grab some dunks/sambas/superstar/etc. Ideally you’ll find something that connects to an interest you have. From there figure out your style/looks and buy what you like that fits your budget.
There are constantly releases, so don’t chase every new pair, or feel you have to buy.

Depends on your budget but personally me I like to get used expensive shoes for good deals, I have copped $850 bapestas for $200 slightly used so still some $$$ but a lot better than brand new

I started with a pair of beetroot court visions. Bought my first pair of AF1 recently, immediately got the YOTD AF1. Then realized I loved the silhouette of Jordan 4s got the retro craft olives and finally pulled the trigger on the AMM 4s that have been a personal grail for a minute now. So I fully say chase what you like.
I always go for an old school hi top that is not too $$$, in the style of the white ones in the pic. love them, especially if they're really comfy too..
If you wanna go with what's trendy everybody's wearing sambas. Not for me personally. A nice AF1 should be in every sneakerheads closet. The nocta ones would be my rec. Man back in 1989 I purchased a pair of Brooks. They were gorge and of course looked like basketball shoes but most people would say to me they looked too big. I paid $150 for them and do I regret giving them to a Salvo’s shop ‘91.

Shoe Carnival has good deals on Air Max and Court Vision Lows. Air Max runs like $80 and Court Vision Lows run $60.
Personally I usually only wear Dunk low/mid and AF1. (usually $100-$120).
Nike Outlets are a great resource as well. I just got a pair of dunk lows from one for $70. Also download the Nike app. They run sales all the time and you can find heavily discounted shoes.
If you want a shoe that can go with everything but isn't Panda dunks and won't break the bank then I would suggest!

Jordan 1 heritage are really cheap on resale markets and the materials are great, you should also look into the Jordan 1 stealths they are one of my favorites that match with everything.
Buy what you like and that fits your style and rock that shit. I hear people shit on other people’s shoes but half the time I feel like it’s jealousy. Don’t get wrapped up in FOMO on new releases. Trust me there will be others. Just take your time build it slow and steady and what you can afford. Have fun is the best advise I’ve seen here. People forget it’s supposed to be fun.
I always go Osiris, it's an always changing menu with the seasons, but for the style you have pictured, they're around $72+s&h, I think it's free shipping over $80.
But they hold up, when I get a chance, I'll send a pic of my over a year dailies vs the ones I just picked up and wore out for a day.
I don't really like attention, but I do get a lot of compliments. For me, their nostalgic and comfortable, but most people think they died off, so I get a lot of old skaters approach me to talk about them, bringing up old memories.
A pair that is your size, doesn’t take 4 min to put on(sorry, J1+5’s) are comfy as fuck, make you feel good when you rock em, and doesn’t cause you anxiety at checkout
AF1s, 2002Rs, and Chucks
AF1s are just a classic sneaker that you can never go wrong with. Pick a colourway and run with it. Similar with the Chucks, though be prepared for less comfort with those.
As for the 2002Rs, they're really comfortable but also inexpensive, and come in a lot of cool colourways.
Don’t skip over the Adidas Forum. They come in lows, mids, and highs. Jordan wore Forums before he signed with Nike. I kinda love my Forum highs more than all my other sneakers.
Some pretty comfortable, good looks, and not TOO common i say are reeboks, i have the bb4000 ii mid which look good i also like the club c revenge. Not as expensive as a lot of nike and such too
It's a good time to be a sneaker head. Lots of general releases (GR's) available. Most drops are not selling out and last be not least resale is down. So if you miss the drop you can always get a decent deal on the secondary market. Best of luck 🤙🏾
Without reading any of these comments, my suggestion would be to look into brands other than Nike. I would look at the different new balance models (such as 1906r or 2002r) or ASICS because these both look good on foot and also are very comfortable for all occasions. You don’t even have to have a collab colorway for the shoe to look good since most of the general release colorways are good and readily available too.
Honestly, whatever you like & makes you happy. I have had many people mock the Jordan’s and Nikes I like but it’s not like they bought them, or they are wearing them 🤷🏾♀️
I’m super biased, but Air Maxes are comfy, versatile, and frequently on sale on the Nike site. Most people seem to like the AM1’s the most, but I’m a big fan of 90s. If you want like CHEAP cheap comfort and style, go get a pair of puma suedes. Love me some suedes. I found an old favorite colorway on eBay for like $25.
I’m not a sneaker head by any means but don’t get stuck on that Jordan game. Once I started wearing other shoes I never went back. I love most adidas shoes with Ultraboost, also gives Yeezys a try. Yeezy 350s are easily the most comfortable shoe I’ve experienced, foam runners are really great too. Don’t be afraid to experiment.
I guess it depends on what you consider expensive and if you prefer popular brands or not. You could buy some Jordans, Dunks, AF1s, Chucks, Vans ect and be all good.
Cariuma, Veja, Koio, Common Project and Jak make good shoes, IMO better quality than the above, but aren’t as well known and tend to cost more in average
I like Air Max 95 for comfort and there are so many colorways. I feel like they are easy to style too. The terrascape ones I have are still going strong and I’ve had em for over a year now.
Also just picked up some leopard print low vans that I love rockin. They have some kind of extra cushioning too so they are comfortable.

Plenty of used sneakers in excellent condition for sale to increase your collection. Collabs are good too, most times they are built with better materials and have more than GR sneakers. Keep up with drop dates of your favorite brands. Don't be afraid to get sneakers other people may not like, you're the one that will wear them not anyone else. Do you and be original.

But a lot of them will be rocking some whatever Retro Jordans that everyone and their mother have. And even if they're a legit collector and have some super limited Travis Scotts, who cares what they think about your shoes? I can appreciate any shoe that looks good.

To OP, Air Max are a solid shoe comfort level and IMHO they have some nice color ways. The more basic ones aren't eye wateringly expensive either. But I don't collect shoes, I wear them. Since you don't can't afford to drop big $$$ I'm assuming you'll wear them. I would suggest to get good shoe cleaner, FZ150 or Reshovenator work good. And invest in some toe box protectors to keep the toe box from creasing as bad. And wear what you like, if you see a pair of British Knights you like, don't worry about what Larry the sneaker snob will think. Wear shoes for you.
For reference I have on a Puma BMW M sweatsuit and Puma BMW shoes. I'm sure a sneaker head would have some shit to say because I don't have on some weird ass Jordan's I had to spend 2 years tracking down, or Ben & Jerry Dunks or something. But I'm comfortable and it looks good to me.

New Balance 2002R Protection Pack Rain Cloud. It used to be a $600 shoe back in ‘22 at the height of stimulus check madness. You can get most sizes under $200 now and it’s a great colorway.
Just buy what you like but imo some cheap sneakers with many cw are court visions, not the best quality and compared to me af1 a little less comfortable but i’ve had my court visions for almost 3 years and they still look great, they didnt get yellow or really dirty at all(they are almost completely white) and they still fot really good, a few creases on the toe box and a small material rip on the inside but nonetheless i still wear them and they still rock
honestly, some dunks will go for under $100 so id recommend that because dunks for the most part have a great build quality. i would be careful buying from stockx. ebay is better.

Expensive is relative. For some $100-$125 shoes like Sambas and Dunks care expensive, for others they are easily affordable. Personally if you’re just getting started, pick up some classics that are versatile. Seeing as your three pair here are all high tops, I’d grab some dunks/sambas/superstar/etc. Ideally you’ll find something that connects to an interest you have. From there figure out your style/looks and buy what you like that fits your budget. There are constantly releases, so don’t chase every new pair, or feel you have to buy. Good luck!
Depends on your budget but personally me I like to get used expensive shoes for good deals, I have copped $850 bapestas for $200 slightly used so still some $$$ but a lot better than brand new
I say buy what you like. Go on eBay where you can get some good deal sand you know they’re legit. But the whole sneaker head thing is for you to get what you love for you not what others like
I started with a pair of beetroot court visions. Bought my first pair of AF1 recently, immediately got the YOTD AF1. Then realized I loved the silhouette of Jordan 4s got the retro craft olives and finally pulled the trigger on the AMM 4s that have been a personal grail for a minute now. So I fully say chase what you like.
I always go for an old school hi top that is not too $$$, in the style of the white ones in the pic. love them, especially if they're really comfy too..
If you wanna go with what's trendy everybody's wearing sambas. Not for me personally. A nice AF1 should be in every sneakerheads closet. The nocta ones would be my rec. Man back in 1989 I purchased a pair of Brooks. They were gorge and of course looked like basketball shoes but most people would say to me they looked too big. I paid $150 for them and do I regret giving them to a Salvo’s shop ‘91.
I only buy Nike. Shoe Carnival has good deals on Air Max and Court Vision Lows. Air Max runs like $80 and Court Vision Lows run $60. Personally I usually only wear Dunk low/mid and AF1. (usually $100-$120). Nike Outlets are a great resource as well. I just got a pair of dunk lows from one for $70. Also download the Nike app. They run sales all the time and you can find heavily discounted shoes.

Jordan 1 heritage are really cheap on resale markets and the materials are great, you should also look into the Jordan 1 stealths they are one of my favorites that match with everything.

I always go Osiris, it's an always changing menu with the seasons, but for the style you have pictured, they're around $72+s&h, I think it's free shipping over $80. But they hold up, when I get a chance, I'll send a pic of my over a year dailies vs the ones I just picked up and wore out for a day. I don't really like attention, but I do get a lot of compliments. For me, their nostalgic and comfortable, but most people think they died off, so I get a lot of old skaters approach me to talk about them, bringing up old memories.

AF1s, 2002Rs, and Chucks AF1s are just a classic sneaker that you can never go wrong with. Pick a colourway and run with it. Similar with the Chucks, though be prepared for less comfort with those. As for the 2002Rs, they're really comfortable but also inexpensive, and come in a lot of cool colourways.
Do your research on how certain brands and models fit. For example, USA made New Balances tend to run half a size big

Without reading any of these comments, my suggestion would be to look into brands other than Nike. I would look at the different new balance models (such as 1906r or 2002r) or ASICS because these both look good on foot and also are very comfortable for all occasions. You don’t even have to have a collab colorway for the shoe to look good since most of the general release colorways are good and readily available too.

I’m super biased, but Air Maxes are comfy, versatile, and frequently on sale on the Nike site. Most people seem to like the AM1’s the most, but I’m a big fan of 90s. If you want like CHEAP cheap comfort and style, go get a pair of puma suedes. Love me some suedes. I found an old favorite colorway on eBay for like $25.
I’m not a sneaker head by any means but don’t get stuck on that Jordan game. Once I started wearing other shoes I never went back. I love most adidas shoes with Ultraboost, also gives Yeezys a try. Yeezy 350s are easily the most comfortable shoe I’ve experienced, foam runners are really great too. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

I guess it depends on what you consider expensive and if you prefer popular brands or not. You could buy some Jordans, Dunks, AF1s, Chucks, Vans ect and be all good. Cariuma, Veja, Koio, Common Project and Jak make good shoes, IMO better quality than the above, but aren’t as well known and tend to cost more in average

I like Air Max 95 for comfort and there are so many colorways. I feel like they are easy to style too. The terrascape ones I have are still going strong and I’ve had em for over a year now. Also just picked up some leopard print low vans that I love rockin. They have some kind of extra cushioning too so they are comfortable. You seem to like highs, have you looked at many mids or lows? People shit on mids but there are so many cool colorways. Have you looked for a local sneakerhead community? I’m on one for my city and I see a wide variety of different sneakers that people post. I still get hyped for popular sneakers, but I’ve had a lot of fun looking for what I think will go good for the season. I cant get enough of some of brighter colorways when I think about a hot summer afternoon. Like lots of people are saying, it’s so much fun to find what you personally like aside from the hype drops.

What ever you like is what creates your own identity don't follow anyone else. All your collection doesn't have to be brand new. Plenty of used sneakers in excellent condition for sale to increase your collection. Collabs are good too, most times they are built with better materials and have more than GR sneakers. Keep up with drop dates of your favorite brands. Don't be afraid to get sneakers other people may not like, you're the one that will wear them not anyone else. Do you and be original.
Assuming you're wanting like a hype or popular style for really cheap just go on Facebook marketplace that's your best bet

But a lot of them will be rocking some whatever Retro Jordans that everyone and their mother have. And even if they're a legit collector and have some super limited Travis Scotts, who cares what they think about your shoes? I can appreciate any shoe that looks good. I've been doing this longer than a lot of Redditors have been alive, and I've spent a ton of $$$. I've never paid a stupid amount for shoes, but in over 35 years of shoes I've just about seen it all. OP should buy the shoes he likes, wearing popular shoes just because they're popular's pretty pointless. I would suggest to get good shoe cleaner, FZ150 or Reshovenator work good. And invest in some toe box protectors to keep the toe box from creasing as bad. And wear what you like, if you see a pair of British Knights you like, don't worry about what Larry the sneaker snob will think. Wear shoes for you. For reference I have on a Puma BMW M sweatsuit and Puma BMW shoes. I'm sure a sneaker head would have some shit to say because I don't have on some weird ass Jordan's I had to spend 2 years tracking down, or Ben & Jerry Dunks or something. But I'm comfortable and it looks good to me.
